My husband and I had a great time. It was just the 2 of us, Filamena and her sweet daughter. We learned several pasta shapes, 2 sauces, bruschetta, and the most delicious tiramisu. She grows her own herbs, olive oil,the wheat was recently harvested and everything was fresh. She also provided a sampling of fresh local made cheese, meat and red table wine. She told us about the area with love. It was really good. Meeting them and sharing a meal on her terrace was a highlight
We had a wonderful time with Filomena Cotugno at her cooking class at her lovely home. She was a patient & fun teacher. We made tiramisu & pasta for two dishes. Her daughter was there to help with any language issues & was very sweet. She also provided appetizers & drinks! All of the food we made was excellent & we enjoyed it immensely. Her husband joined us for the meal so it could be a family affair. She shared with us some of her homemade olive oil & limoncello! She even took the time to show us around her beautiful hometown & helped with transportation getting to her house. We would highly recommend Filomena & the Cesarine cooking classes!!
We did the 3 pasta class with Filomena Cotugno near Matera, and it was a very top highlight of my family ‘s trip to Italy. We learned how to make family recipes and had a wonderful dinner together for pastas and sauces according to
We absolutely loved our cooking class with Filomena! During the lesson, we prepared spinach ravioli, fresh tagliatelle, and a delicious tiramisu. It might sound a bit bold, but it was honestly the best food we had during our entire stay in Italy. Filomena and her family were incredibly hospitable. The whole experience far exceeded our expectations of what a cooking lesson would look like – we felt more like family members than just students. Please note that the class doesn't take place in Matera, but in Montescaglioso – a charming small town about 20 km away. It is definitely worth the trip, and I recommend asking Filomena about a pickup if you don't have a car. Highly recommended!
Loved being in the beautiful home of Francesco. He made the day absolutely fabulous. We started out by making a fruit tiramisu. Then learned how to make two different types of pasta. And learned so much about him and this region of the world. Sharing a lunch together was absolutely fantastic. And then he even took us back to our hotel. I feel like I have a friend for life in Francesco and cannot wait to visit the region again.
The host was extremely welcoming and kind with lots if knowledge to share. We were humbled by the generosity. We made pasta from scratch, along with a sauce and a filling. We were shown several pasta shaping techniques too. We also made a delicious desert using local, in season, ingredients. We then shared the meal and good company. A fabulous morning!
For a sum of over$300.00 for two of us it was the worst experience we have ever wasted money on. Our host was not very professional, unorganized and our meal was cheap for him to provide. Will never do something like this again.

Anna Maria is an excellent teacher (we made orecchiette pasta and spocamuss for dessert) and her home is the perfect location. Although it was a rainy evening, the environment inside was friendly and inviting. We highly recommend!
