Best food on the island

Come hungry!! This is an eating experience more than cooking. So even if you don’t like to cook but like to eat do this class. Learning the secrets of the Mayan recipes and how to cook a perfect tortilla was amazing. Juan was very enthusiastic to learn from, he was great!

Unique Excursion in Cozumel

We had a fantastic experience with Juan and the team! We were able to participate in making guacamole, a traditional Mayan dipping sauce (this was probably my favorite dish), and corn tortillas. Afterwards they fed us more dishes, including soup, two different tacos, multiple drinks, and dessert. We were so full—make sure to come hungry—and learned a lot about the history and culture of Mayan cooking. It was nice to do something different from the usual activities, and it also got us indoors during a rainy day in Cozumel. The only downside is that they don’t send you home with recipes for free, you have to purchase one. I comes with recipes you make and eat in the class, as well as some other traditional Mexican and Mayan dishes. So either be prepared to listen and take notes if you want to replicate some of these dishes at home, or buy the book.

Excellent experience....

Excellent experience. Food was great, guide was great. Would recommend. To find the location, search for Plaza Royal Village, and it’s right behind the old Hard Rock Cafe.

Enjoy making Mayan food

Fun learning about the Mayan Culture and very tasty. Clean facility with inside bathroom. Easy to find. If coming from a cruise ship be aware event starts at area’s time zone, not ship time.

Fun and tasty

Very interesting and info. Great food the restaurant prepared. Food I helped prepare were great, as well. Ok as a solo experience, but probably better in a group.

Food is amazing and plentiful! Traditional food and explanation for everything. Great experience! This was a very hands on and participatory class. I’ve taken cooking classes all over the world and this was one of the best!

Good to get to know a bit of native culture

The class was interesting. There is a great concern with regard to the culture of the indigenous peoples, both in relation to the original ingredients, and those that were introduced by the Spanish; as well as the music and rituals of the natives, in which there was a presentation. In what we eat part was made by us and part was served to us ready. I felt missing the recipes so we could reproduce the dishes at home, which we were not provided. About the location I would like to leave a help to those who go: I had a lot of difficulty knowing where the place was, as employees of a street store there, where I went to ask where the place was also had. The number of a building on the street is not mentioned on the outside, it is necessary to ask inside the building, which few also know. Another reason that caused the difficulty of localization was the translation into Portuguese (because I live in Brazil) of the name that is necessary to know in English: " Royal Plaza shopping" This sign is large and well visible, which is an open-air shopping where the number of shops appears from the outside. This open shopping is in front of one of the ports of the city, it had more anchored ships, and large ships.

Couldn’t find this place and no replies.

Hadn’t heard back still as my boyfriend and I used Google Maps and asked around and looked for room 53 in the MEGA Soriano store and minimal and across the street. Apple Maps took us to a boat ship yard. Atleast I got a refund but disappointed we didn’t get Mayan cooking under our belt.
