We booked a 10am slot as it was a 3 hour experience. So thought it would be a great time to eat lunch but It only took us just over an hour to cook the food so was eating at 11.15am which wasn't good as we had only had breakfast at 8.30am. The lady who ran the class was lovely but We did feel like we had to eat all the food as she sat with us while we ate.
Dear julie, I'm very sorry you didn't fully appreciate the experience, thank you for your feedback, it always encourages us to do better! Regarding what you wrote, when the class is very small (there were 2 of you) the preparation of the dishes is faster (with larger classes of 6/8 guests everything is much slower) and we have the chance to focus more on the tasting, commentary on the dishes, ingredients and Italian culinary tradition. I'm very sorry that it was too early to appreciate the food and that you felt obliged to eat... I always sit at the table with my guests to explain and share the pleasure of tasting the dishes and the wine, sharing stories and suggestions about Venice, or life in general : ) because it's part of the experience.
Our visit to Venice was made truly unforgettable thanks to Barbara, a wonderful local woman who graciously welcomed us into her home and taught us how to make traditional Italian dishes. From the moment we arrived, Barbara’s warmth and authenticity made us feel right at home. Barbara guided us through the process of making ravioli, pasta, and tiramisu with incredible patience and expertise. Her passion for cooking and sharing her culture was evident in every step. We learned not only the techniques but also the stories and traditions behind each dish, making the experience even more enriching. My kids took a special liking to Barbara, drawn to her genuine and kind nature. She had a way of connecting with them that made the cooking class both educational and fun. They were completely captivated by her stories and enjoyed every moment of the hands-on experience. The highlight of our time with Barbara was not just the delicious food we made but the heartfelt connections we formed. She is a truly authentic and wonderful person, and we feel incredibly lucky to have had this opportunity. I highly recommend this experience to anyone visiting Venice – it’s a memory we will cherish forever.
Unforgettable experience! Very kind Italian hostess Barbara met us and we took a short walk to her home where we made delicious pasta, she walked us through step by step, then tiramisu as well! My daughters and I will treasure the experience! Thank you so much 😊
This was by far the best experience in Venice. Coletta provided clear instructions on where to meet her and then we walked just a couple minutes to her apartment. We made ravioli with spinach and ricotta, fettuccine with arugula pesto and tiramisu. Everything was so delicious. Coletta is an amazing host with recipes handed down from her Grandmother. I would highly recommend this class!
Carlotta made this experience one we will always remember. Not only was she a wonderful hostess, she also showed off her family recipes with grace and fun! She made sure everyone was able to get involved with making each part of the meals and was there to make sure no one could mess up the recipe for the whole group. As avid traveling cooking class attendees, this one is definitely near the top of our list and will be recommended to everyone we know coming to Venice!
A family of four, with two children aged 10 and 12, we complemented our holiday in Venice with this class. With Carlotta, we learned how to make fresh homemade pasta, followed by a tasty tiramisu. All made from scratch! Not only Carlotta displayed great mastery of the art, amazing cooking skill and patience teaching - she filled the course with laughter and fun (and , for the grown-ups, also with some very nice bubbly!). It was a dense 3-hour experience in an amazing location in the heart of Venice. The perfect and oh-so-easy way to learn how to make some real italian food, just great to take a break from the intense Venice sightseeing. Highly recommended and hopefully we can return to Venice and learn to prepare more italian dishes!
Best experience on our trip to Venice. Highly recommended. Carlotta is a great cook and explained all the workings of homemade pasta and the wonderful tiramisu, all nicely accompanied by local prosecco!
