Costa Maya Ultimate Beach Escape

First, let me say the beach and restaurant was fine. I gave a 3 out 5 because we were told that our drivers would be waiting for us with our names once we made it port side. This was not the case. No one was waiting! We had to call multiple times to find out where we needed to be to meet them and what vehicle would they be in. It took an hour to finally get in a cab that they told us to jump in to and they would tell them where to take us. The beach, restaurant, and staff were great! Now they deserve 5 stars. However, when this is your first time in Costa Maya it’s important that the excursion company follows what they tell you. Upon leaving to get back to the boat they told us to just tell the restaurant to call the taxi for us, which they did. But we were charged for the ride back to the port side which our package included travel to and from the beach resort. I won’t book with this company again or on this site. It wasn’t worth the hassle and it cut time into our beach time.

This beach escape from Princess Cruises was exactly what we needed. Fresh tacos, cold margaritas, and a great view of the Caribbean. The drivers were waiting right at the Costa Maya port and got us back with plenty of time before all-aboard.

We got off MSC World America and went straight to this beach club instead of staying near the pier. Honestly, it was a lot nicer and cheaper than the cruise option. The ceviche was great, the drinks kept coming, and Kelly helped us find a perfect shady spot.

On Virgin Voyages, we wanted something quieter than the port area and this was perfect. The beach was clean, the food was really good, and the drinks were cold. Carmen made everything run smoothly. It felt more relaxed than anything offered onboard.

We booked the platinum experience for two adults and our toddler. Transfer was to be included. While we were able to find our cab with assistance our cab driver was not aware it was prepaid nor did they pay him so he requested payment. Then once we arrived they told us nothing was included for our toddler when previously it mentioned that his drinks were included and food items were extra . Every 30 seconds after we sat at our seats we were harassed by vendors trying to sell items or services. It was not restful or enjoyable. We ordered two non alcoholic drinks and one alcoholic. Drank a few sips and decided to leave as it was not remotely enjoyable and there was nothing enjoyable for our 3 year old to enjoy. No one was in the water and the beach was less than ideal (which I realize can be seasonal). Left much to be desired and other locations in Mexico provide more comprehensive beach clubs with much more affordable prices and way less harassment. I have no idea if any such place exists in Costa Maya as this was our second time in this area and our first time venturing out of the port.

Ww had a nice experience on this tour but felt like it was overpriced for what we actually received. The communication with the tour operator was excellent and the food, drinks, and service at the hotel were good. The beach was just ok and every five minutes someone came by trying to sell something. Overall we had a good time but personally we would not do it again unless the price was much lower.
