In case people don’t know, Viator outsources other tour companies. I can tell you, book a similar tour but not with this one. The tour guide for the colosseum was terrible. Impatient and rude. Plus they changed our start time by an hour earlier, making it difficult to get our entire party ready that early. Another family left the tour, as we did, once we got to the Roman forum. As for the Vatican museums, they started an hour late and you guy through a 20-25 minute virtual video of some of the paintings. Talk to me about the paintings when I see it up close, not an hour prior to viewing. I have used Viator many times and never had an issue, but please save your money and book a similar tour. I asked for a partial refund to because my mother had hurt her ankle a couple days prior to the tour and they basically said too bad.
Guide was not engaging, nobody in the tour was interested and was not entertaining
The tour guide was sweet and tried very hard, but it was impossible to hear him, extremely fast paced (you can’t take anything in and don’t get time to read signs or look at displays). This is definitely something we would do self guided next time. The only advantage was being guided through the chaos of the lines.
To hit both the Colosseum, Vatican Museums, and Sistine Chapel all in one tour and in one day is great. It makes it easy to condense activities into one day and there is plenty of time to get from one to the other in-between. Our tour guide for the Colosseum was Flavia. She was amazing and I have no complaints at all. The Vatican Museums were a little different than I expected, as it was filled with Roman history, mythology, and Christian-based art/items. The beginning seemed light on the Christianity, which took me by surprise, but it came on strong halfway through and obviously into the Sistine Chapel. I’d definitely recommend doing this, but maybe also book more areas of the Vatican if you want a heavy focus on Catholocism.
The tour was very informative and entertaining. Our guide was very enthusiastic the whole time.
Very interesting guided tour, charming guide. We have learned a lot. I recommend this tour Very professional!
Excellent, the guide very well, it is definitely for a full day the view to the coliseum, I in the same day visit coliseum and Vatican
Do not use HEADOUT Tours, family of 4 and I always use Viator and wished I had this time again. We booked a Colosseum Tour, Vatican tour and a Bus Trip to Pompeii with Headout - what a terrible experience. We went to Colosseum having paid for 2 adults 2 children to find out during this year children (U18) are free, yet Headout charged us 24 euro for each child. We were told we had access to Arena Floor we did not. We paid for an online audio guide it was so bad, kept jumping, skipping, you could not pause, was so frustrating we stopped using. Next trip Vatican, all head out did was book us a Trip with a tour company outside of the Vatican and charged us for this, do this directly yourselves. The guide was knowledgeable and I would recommend this - company was Tours About Enjoy ROME. The worst of all was trip to pompeii, we were to be at meeting point for 07:30, it was cold wet and when we got there we were told Headout had cancelled our booking, so were not allowed on bus, you can imagine the stress and frustration, all other tourists went onto bus, we were told if we wanted to go, we had to rebook via CityTours (again Headout had just booked this with them ). We were in rain, no shelter, with 2 teenagers trying to get our phones to pick up an an email and an access link to rebook and had to pay an extra 426 euro to City Tours, when we allowed on bus not seats sitting together. It was terrible, the complaint is with Headout NOT City tours, the tour itself was great guide was lovely would recommended if you want to do this book it direct with City Tours. I have had to send numerous emails to get my money back, no proper explanation as to why this happened. They have offered me 20 USD credits and 10% of next tours, which I have told them I have no intention of doing. They gave me back 10 euros for a terrible audio guide (so they know it is terrible!!) and refunded me the cost of original trip to Pompeii no compensation for the stress and no added conversion fees back to GBP......Learn from this and book direct DO NOT USE HEADOUT
Absolutely loved Georgia- she was funny, knowledgeable, and kind! She even helped us with directions at the end of the tour.
We had a great guide Francesca she was very knowledgeable and passionate. It was a great experience to get to see history in the flesh
