We chose this tour due to the heat. It was an interesting history of how chocolate is grown and made. It's a self guided tour.
Hello, Thank you for taking the time to share your review! We are delighted that you chose to visit us to escape the heat and that you found the history of chocolate production interesting. Our self-guided tour is indeed designed to let everyone explore the fascinating journey of chocolate—from the Maya and Aztec traditions to modern times—at their own pace, all while staying comfortably cool. We hope you also enjoyed the tastings along the way! Best regards, The Choco-Story Colmar Team"
Great visit, very interesting. The various chocolate tastings are extremely informative... especially for food lovers!!!

Actually, as an idea to keep the kids busy on a cold day, we were positively surprised. On two floors, the journey from the cocoa plant to chocolate and, in approaches, the cultural history of chocolate are shown. No chance without an audio guide, there are few labels. But it's good, only a little too long in a few places. We were there for two hours and had an entertaining stay. The playstations all worked and the kids enjoyed it, the quiz stations at the end were great for everyone! Super also the view into the workshop. The chocolate there is in the exhibition was not so delicious.
Very interesting concerning the cocoa bean. Also suitable for children, as there are also games. And the most important, delicious chocolate to try 😄
A shame. A business museum, industrialized without any soul. Aggressive and arrogant staff. Do not let yourself be fooled by the so-called hot chocolate tasting at the exit, a capsule that comes out of an automatic machine. Sad.
I am very disappointed by my visit to the Colmar Chocolate Museum. For €15 per adult and €9 for a child (24 € for two), I expected a real discovery around chocolate. Unfortunately, it was quite the opposite. Upon arrival, we are given a small audio box (to be put to one ear only) that we have to “beep” in front of plaques throughout the museum to listen to explanations... A monotonous voice tells us things that we could have read in a book. It’s not playful, interactive or engaging. After 10 plates, we had enough. The museum’s contents are riddled with clutter, and we move from one theme to another without clear logic: one moment we talk about pods, the next about the Aztecs, then clothes made of chocolate... We get completely lost. There are a few screens, a few bags or objects, but the majority of the “information” is presented in a very virtual, uninvolving, and above all boring way. On the “interactive games” side, a few terminals but very basic, few. My 9-year-old son found no point in it. What about tasting? Three small vending machines with milk chocolate, dark, white... poor quality, bland, and frankly gross. You’re supposed to be in a chocolate museum, you expect to taste something minimally refined... Even in the big box office you find better. As for the manufacturing “demonstration”... It’s a joke. We enter a room with three giant screens where VIRTUAL cooks (pre-recorded films) show how to melt chocolate. No interaction, no smell, no manipulation possible. We're watching a movie. Here you go. In summary: * Very expensive visit for very poor content * Course poorly constructed and confused * Zero real interactivity * Poor quality chocolate * No real demonstration * A flat, monotonous and frankly boring experience * Nothing from a real museum, no immersion This place has a “museum” only in name. I came out frustrated and felt like I had been fooled. This museum is an outright tourist catcher. A shame to offer this type of experience at this price. Run away.
Bien cordialement, La Direction
Very nice exhibition dedicated to chocolate! The course is well structured and allows you to learn a lot of interesting information, both about history and manufacturing. The tastings offered throughout the visit are a real treat and bring a very pleasant sensory dimension. The fun aspect is also successful: games and activities are offered, making the visit lively and enjoyable for children and adults alike. We don’t see time passing and we leave with the desire to prolong the experience. A visit that I highly recommend to the curious and the gourmet.
