We had a wonderful day with Juan our tour guide. He picked us up right on time and drove us for a bit, then asked if we wanted a coffee. He stopped at El Jardín for coffee and a little breakfast. After getting back on the road we went to the waterfall. It was stunning and so refreshing. He took some pictures of us and we spent some time swimming under the waterfall. We then went on our adventure in the rainforest where we had a private guide named Diego. He was so skilled in spotting all the animal. We saw five sloths (even a baby), an eyelash snake, red-eyed frog, a blue legs frog, and many birds. From there we went to Dona Carmen’s Soda for lunch. We wandered around the butterfly garden and had the most delicious lunch! The chicken soup was unbelievable. After lunch our final stop was a chocolate and coffee tour with Christopher (we had guides at these places, but Juan was with us the whole time too). It was so informative and yummy! Just overall a truly magical day, and we would highly recommend it to anyone traveling to the area!
Our tour was fantastic. Dayro, our tour guide, was extremely knowledgeable and spoke great English, and he taught us a ton. We were very fortunate to see a waterfall, learn how to make coffee and chocolate, and see all the animals we had hoped, including sloths, monkeys, toucans, frogs, snakes, and more. Next time we are in Costa Rica we will definitely be doing this tour again and would absolutely recommend to anyone who is considering it!
The guide, Dairo, was very pleasant and informative. My husband and I had a private tour to Llanos de Cortez Waterfall and a coffee, cacao, and chocolate tour in Bijagua. We had the chance to see sloths, an eyelash viper snake, a red-eyed tree frog, a porcupine, and many more animals in the park. Finally, we enjoyed a very tasty lunch at a local family restaurant. If you want to truly enjoy Costa Rica, see its wildlife, and visit beautiful and historical places, I highly recommend the Coffee & Chocolate Tour + Sloths Park & Llanos de Cortez with Dairo
This was an INCREDIBLE experience!!! We would highly recommend this when in Costa Rica. It was cultural, exciting and unique. Dayro’s hospitality and company was phenomenal — we were lucky enough to be the only ones on the tour for that day so we got a great personalized experience. You have the option to choose the order of the events, we chose to do the waterfalls first, rainforest next and finished with the coffee and chocolate experience. I would HIGHLY recommend this order!!! We arrived to the waterfalls at 7:55am, waiting until it opened at 8am. We were the only ones there for about 25 minutes, we got to swim and get photos alone in the falls. On our way up the stairs there were lines of vans coming in with large groups of people so we were extremely grateful to have had almost a full 30 minutes of silence, a private waterfall experience with ourselves, Dayro and the nature around us. The rainforest was phenomenal — we saw sloths hanging in the trees with their babies on them, monkeys swinging, toucans, a pit viper snakes and frogs; Dayro had two types of binoculars we got the best views and photos/videos of the animals. The coffee & chocolate experience was also amazing, the guides were great and they have a great shop with authentic coffee, chocolate beauty products and more!! To end, we had an amazing lunch with Dayro, authentic food, great mango juice and they even have a butterfly garden at the lunch spot which we had some time to walk through together. 10/10 amazing time!! We gave a bit of a tip to the rainforest guides, the coffee/chocolate guides and of course to Dayro at the end so it is recommended to bring some cash since there are different guides throughout some of the experiences :)
This is the best experience we’ve had in all the times using Viator. If you can ask for the driver, you should ask for Daryo because he’s the best. He’s the guy in the picture. He took us to get breakfast first since the excursion is very early. Then we went to the waterfall and he made sure we got there early because it gets super crowded. Then he took us to the coffee and chocolate tasting. What I love about this part is how familiar the people at the coffee tasting place about coffee from the different shapes and types of coffee, how coffee affects our bodies, how they are processed. What it releases. Then we had chocolate tasting which was amazing. Never had hot cocoa with the sugar cane. Don’t forget to get the chocolate oil at the gift shop. I don’t think I can find it ANYWHERE! Then Daryio took us to sloth tour. At first we saw the sloths wayyyy up on the tree but the tour guides were prepared with a telescope. Mind you, the tour guides can’t guarantee you’ll see sloth because these are wild animals. We saw eyelash snake that is venomous, we saw strawberry poisonous frog. The tour guide took the pics up close for us. The tour guide at the sloth place is so good at spotting animals and plants and explain to us. Then we got so LUCKY. We saw a sloth VERY VERY close. We could have touched it! And it made my kids day. The teen was impressed, the 20 year olds were impressed. We got great pictures! Got to see him moved. It was THE BEST!! I love how clean all the places Daryio took us. He also let us stop by at a local fruit market to get some local fruit. Lunch was good! Get the tilapia or chicken tenders or fish tacos. The butterfly garden was small but beautiful. The tour guides were all 100 out of a 10. Very knowledgeable and they really are so proud of what they do! Highly recommended. Money well spent and Daryio took us home safely despite the crazy storm!
We had the BEST time with Dayro. The entire day was so much fun. I took a bachelorette party on this tour and all 8 of us loved it. Dayro was such a great guide and answered all of our questions. It was the perfect way to see more of Costa Rica on our short trip. We arrived at the waterfall early and had the entire swimming spot to ourselves. The rainforest tour and coffee/chocolate tour were also really enjoyable, and we loved learning more about the native animals/insects and plants. Overall, I would highly recommend! It's great for anyone and everyone.
This was the highlight of our trip to Costa Rica. Our guide, Dyrdo, was remarkable. He made the trip so enjoyable. He was very knowledgeable and shared his knowledge. He brought binoculars and made sure we saw some incredible wildlife. The tour guides at the coffee chocolate and sloth tour were all very friendly and engaging. We saw so much wildlife on the sloth tour and the guides worked hard to ensure we had a great experience. It would not have been nearly as cool without their efforts. The traditional Costa Rican meal was delicious and a great way to end the day.
This was an excellent trip for me and my family. We got to swim in a waterfall, see so many animals, and try native coffee and chocolate. I highly recommend it. The guide was probably the best one I have ever had on an excursion. A must do.
My family and I enjoyed this private tour. We were especially impressed by the tour guide, Dayro. He went out of his way to make sure that we saw a variety of animals in the rainforest. He was patient and knowledgeable about the areas we visited and the animals and plants we saw. First, we saw the waterfall, and it was refreshing to go into the water. It was easy to change our clothes there. Next, we saw the coffee and chocolate "plantation." The guide there was pretty good, but we felt a little rushed when trying the freshly brewed coffee and cocoa. The sloth park/rainforest was our favorite part. At first we did not see any animals, but Dayro searched patiently and methodically and located a variety of animals for us like frogs, sloths, leaf-cutter ants, monkeys, a toucan, an eyelash snake, a walking-stick insect, and even a porcupine high up in a tree.
By far the best tour I have taken on vacation! Leon wasan outstanding guide; great conversation, local knowledge, flexible, funny and just a genuinely good person. My girlfriend and I both agreed this was the best we have taken, ever. 10/10 recommend!
