Votre fabuleuse excursion VIP de charme sur la côte de la Rome antique commencera lorsque votre chauffeur parlant anglais viendra vous chercher à votre croisière au port de Civitavecchia et vous conduira au centre-ville de Rome. Dans un véhicule Mercedes Benz élégant et confortable, vous serez conduit au premier arrêt de votre visite : Colisée et Forum romain ! Admirez le glorieux Amphithéâtre Flavien, l'un des monuments les plus remarquables de la capitale. Pendant l'Empire romain, le Colisée romain a permis à plus de 50 000 personnes de profiter de ses plus beaux spectacles. Les expositions d'animaux exotiques, les exécutions de prisonniers, les reconstitutions de batailles et les combats de gladiateurs ont diverti le peuple romain pendant des années.
Continuez la visite et rejoignez le Circus Maximus, le plus grand stade de la Rome antique, construit pour les courses de chars. Imaginez que vous participez à l'une des compétitions de courses de chars du Circus Maximus au cours desquelles les participants ont tenté de boucler sept tours du Circus Maximus. Les concurrents, montés dans de petits chars tirés par des chevaux, jouaient bien plus que leur prestige ou les gros lots dans les courses, car beaucoup d'entre eux étaient des esclaves luttant pour leur liberté.
La colline du Palatin est l'une des sept collines de Rome et c'est l'une des parties les plus anciennes de la ville car elle se dresse juste au-dessus du Forum romain et sur le Circus Maximus.
Vous visiterez ensuite la colline de l'Aventin et profiterez de la vue Secret Keyhole. La vue en trou de serrure s'aligne parfaitement avec le jardin, centrée sur la coupole Saint-Pierre au loin. La porte en question mène au Prieuré des Chevaliers de Malte, les légendaires chevaliers croisés !
Bien sûr une fois que vous aurez visité le Circus Maximus, vous ne pourrez pas manquer l'occasion d'admirer le Campidoglio (Colline du Capitole) ! Il est inévitable que vous soyez charmés par les superbes panoramas du Forum romain à partir de là.
Notre prochain arrêt sera la place Venezia, où se trouve l'Altare della Patria ! Ce monument national est dédié à Vittorio Emanuele II et a été inauguré en 1911 en hommage au premier roi d'Italie après l'unification du pays.
Le charmant Panthéon est l'attraction suivante à visiter. Situé sur la Piazza della Rotonda, il a d'abord été construit comme temple des dieux romains, est aujourd'hui considéré comme le monument romain antique le mieux conservé, et ce qui est plus intéressant, c'est que personne n'est sûr de son âge. Laissez-vous impressionner par son célèbre trou dans le toit, qui les jours d'été donne un beau spectacle à l'intérieur.
Ensuite, nous irons à la fontaine de Trevi, où vous pourrez participer à la tradition du lancer de pièces !
En tant que véritables invités VIP, vous serez ensuite conduit dans l'endroit le plus glamour de Rome; Marches Espagnoles ! Vous aurez la chance de gravir les splendides marches espagnoles et d'avoir une vue remarquable sur la Piazza di Spagna.
Tout en étant conduit au Vatican, profitez de la vue sur le Castel Sant'Angelo, une forteresse située sur la rive droite du Tibre, à une courte distance de la Cité du Vatican.

The best private tours we have ever been on! Alex Paolini was our guide. He was prompt, knowledgeable and showed us everything we wanted. Our Trevi Fountain tickets were ready for us and he knew the city like the back of his hand. He even made reservations for us at an authentic and delicious restaurant! Our whole day could not have been easier or more enjoyable. A must book tour!
Peter was our Driver from the Cruise Port to all over Rome. Peter was super Professional Driver and Tour Guide. We got to see all the main Attractions and visited Vatican Square, I would recommend and Ask for Peter , he knows all roads around Rome. Yes very happy with Viator and our trip to Rome. ✅👍😁
Probably one of the best tours we have ever been on. Alex Paolini was our guide and he was phenomenal. He confirmed the night before, showed up early the day of and had a sign with our name which made it a breeze as we walked off the cruise ship. He was full of knowledge and accommodating throughout the entire trip. He took us to everywhere we wanted to go and also went out of his way to make sure we had tickets to the Trevi Fountain. Not only did he suggest a great place for lunch but he also made sure we had reservations. Stress free day in Rome (I cannot imagine doing it any other way), I would highly recommend this tour!
We booked a private day tour with Alex Paolini in Rome and it turned out to be the highlight of our trip. Alex took us everywhere on our list and never once made us feel rushed. He’s incredibly personable — within an hour it felt like we were traveling with a friend rather than a guide. His knowledge is outrageous. No matter what we asked, history, architecture, local customs, food, he had a real answer, and usually a good story to go with it. He also knows every back road, so while other groups sat in traffic, we were already at the next stop. Lunch was a standout. He’d made reservations ahead of time at a fantastic local spot, and we walked straight into a packed restaurant with no wait. Authentic food, excellent service, exactly the kind of place you’d never find on your own. Alex made us feel right at home in Italy. If you’re considering a private tour, book him.
This was fantastic! Our driver, Alex Paolini, couldn’t have been better. He texted us the night before to greet us and then again the morning of our tour. He sent us detailed instructions on where to find him when we got off of the ship. He stopped on the way to Rome to let us use the restroom and then continued our journey. He took us to the Vatican (where we got to see the Pope!!), the Trevor Fountain, the Spanish Steps, and the Colosseum. He answered all of our questions along the way, gave us fun facts, and even taught us some Italian slang. We couldn’t find the last pickup point (despite him sending us coordinates - we are all directionally challenged), so I sent him our location and within 2 minutes he picked us up. We would definitely use Alex again, no question!

Perfect day in Rome. Our driver Paolo was fun, friendly, informative, and professional. We gave him our priorities of where to visit, and he managed it flawlessly. Kept the pace one that was enjoyable and didn’t feel rushed. Even threw in some hidden gems that were off the tourist maps. Couldn’t have asked for a better taste of Rome.
We had a very good day visiting Rome from the cruise port of Cividavecchia.The driver Paolo was waiting off the cruise gangway when we walked out, following our names on the sign he held. No need for shuttle bus. We started the day being chauffeured around in a large Mercedes minivan with all the expected comforts. The AC was in full blast to counter the early morning heat in late August weather. Paolo explained all interesting local and historical tidbits when we’re on the way to Rome. Small van tour is the best way to visit Rome in a day. We didn’t have to walk too far at all. Paolo literally dropped us off right in front of the places we wanted to visit, and we were on our own way. We summoned him back with a text and he’s ready at the rendezvous point to pick us up to the next destinations. I’ve heard horror stories from others that they had to walk 30-40 minutes to a destination when taking a trip on large full-size bus, as large bus has to use designated parking spaces far from any destinations, 30-40 minutes walk one-way, not to mention the heat of the summer. Paolo took us to 9 places around Rome, which obviously we cannot do it ourselves without the intimate local knowledge to get around. The cost of a private tour is more than a shared large tour, but it was so worth it considering all the walking one has to do in a large shared tour. For us, it was a very well-spent trip. We would not hesitate to do it again. Not sure if you can ask for a particular driver, but Paolo is the one to get if possible. At the end of the day, Paolo dropped us off a few steps from the gangway, and we’re back to the cruise ship before 4:30PM, in time to hit the buffet for some afternoon snacks.
I spent the day with Beatrice who was the most wonderful driver and aficionado of all things Rome. She was friendly and kind as well. What a joy to have been so lucky to have her help me see all things Roma.
