A very disappointing experience unfortunately. Travelled into Split especially to use City Sightseeing bus as I usually find these such good value for money. Bought a 48 hour ticket and after initial confusion of pick up point (note Split has more than one bus station 🙄 and the live chat operator seemed helpful at first to guide me to the correct pick up point but then said they would just need a few minutes to check something and then never got back to me even though I could see my questions were being seen). We eventually took the hop on hop off bus for the hour tour. It poured with rain and we had to sit inside so didn’t see much so just thought we would do the tour again the following day. We then waited an hour and a half for the sunset tour bus only to see it leave early so we missed it. Went on live chat again straight away and was told I could email to get a refund which I did and we gave up the idea of using the bus for a second day. However after 3 days of back and forward emails to customer services they refused the refund, if I had known this was going to be the outcome then I would have used the second day. I would suggest that if a tour is advertised for a certain time, especially when there is only one trip a day then it really should not be departing before the advertised time. This experience (and the fact I’m £40 out of pocket) has left me feeling very disappointed in City Sightseeing.
Total rip off. A taxi would have been cheaper at 20Euros each way, to the cruise ship. We got off the Marella Explorer 2 Cruise Ship and got on the bus after breakfast, we paid 50Euros each for a ticket and decided to get off at stop 7 (last stop) on red line to check out St. Francis Church and Monastery, which was lovely. We asked about doing the blue route when the bus arrived, she said we wouldn't have time to do this, so I asked about the green route, the lady said that bus would be along in 1hr 20mins. She said there would be an additional cost for one of the lines, I think it was 10Euros. The return time was a bit too close to when the ship was departing, so I said we may as well go back to the ship, the lady said it would take us 10 mins to walk and pointed in the direction. So we paid 50Euros for a bus trip to a church and walked back! Looking afterwards at the map they give you, Red Line has 7 stops and departs hourly from 10am - 4pm, Blue Line departs 15.30 only and returns 9pm, Green Line departs 12.15 only and returns 15.15. This is not the same as the hop on hop off buses we have travelled on worldwide, false advertising.
We chose the 48 hour ticket and did the walking tour and green line on day one and the red line and blue line on day two. The tours are excellent value for money. KLIS fortress doubles up but on the second tour we sat at a pub for drinks
Comfortable, clean bus transporting us around Split on the red route, followed by a guided walking tour of the Diocletian’s Palace. Our tour guide Duju was fantastic. He was knowledgeable, humorous, clear and informative. The following day we took the blue route to Trogir, the olive oil museum and Klis, all of which were very enjoyable. Duju accompanied us again, and gave us important cultural and historical information, particularly about Trogir and Klis, which set us up well for our free time at each location. The 48hr ticket was fantastic value for money.
ear Janet, Thank you very much for your wonderful review! We are delighted to hear that you enjoyed both the Split and extended routes, and that the combination of the red and blue lines, together with the walking tours, made your experience so complete. It’s especially great to know that Duju made such a positive impact on your visit with his knowledge, humour and clear explanations — we will make sure to pass your kind words on to him. We are also very happy that you found the 48-hour ticket to be good value and that you enjoyed visiting Diocletian’s Palace, Trogir and Klis. We truly appreciate your feedback and hope to welcome you again soon on another of our tours!
hop on hop off was average at best. Have used HOHO many times in other cities that were far better organized than this one. Direction from staff was almost non-existent until you pushed for information. Staff was not friendly except for one young girl at the Green line start.
Hello David, Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We’re sorry to hear that your experience with City Sightseeing Split did not meet the standards you’ve enjoyed in other cities. We regret that you felt the information and assistance from our team were not consistent throughout your visit. Providing clear, helpful, and friendly guidance is an essential part of our service, and it is concerning to hear that this was not your experience on this occasion. We will make sure your comments are shared with the local team so they can be addressed and improved, especially regarding staff communication and guest support. We’re glad to hear, however, that one of our team members at the Green Line start made a positive impression. That recognition will certainly be passed on. Split is a truly unique destination, and our hop-on hop-off service is designed to help visitors easily explore highlights such as the Old Town and Diocletian’s Palace, the waterfront promenade, and the surrounding viewpoints at their own pace. We appreciate your honest feedback, as it helps us improve the experience in Split and across all City Sightseeing destinations. We hope to have the opportunity to welcome you again in the future and provide a much better impression.
A great way to see Split with stop off points. We thoroughly enjoyed it. The driver was informative at times to be picked up and the bus was very clean and comfortable.
I cannot say enough about the 48 hr tour. It was the best money we spent in Split. In fact, we cancelled another tour since this tour had so many options. We ended up going on the red line, the green line, the blue line, the Klis fortress sunset tour, and the old town Split walking tour. Our wonderful blue line guide Dakron explained so many things about Trogir and Klis Fortress. Another guide Peter was very kind, as was each person we encountered with this tour company. I highly recommend this being the first tour you book if you visit Split to get that perfect overall view of Dalmatia.
