La Citerne Basilique a été conçue pour alimenter le Grand Palais Byzantin et les bâtiments environnants. Elle pouvait stocker jusqu'à 100 000 tonnes d'eau acheminée via 20 km d'aqueducs à partir d'un réservoir autour de la forêt de Belgrade. La Citerne Basilique (Citerne souterraine, Yerebatan) est l'une des citernes les plus célèbres d'Istanbul. Elle a été construite pendant l'Empire byzantin et plus tard, elle n'a pas été utilisée par l'Empire ottoman et a été oubliée pendant longtemps. Depuis sa découverte et sa restauration, elle est utilisée comme musée depuis 1988.

The tour guide was very helpful. My friend missed the tram, and the guide went with him on the tram.
The guide was very kind and offered us to visit the racetrack as well, it is a place with a lot of history and a wonderful architecture and ambiance. I felt like I was in the 007 movie walking along those walkways. I would have liked the tour to be available in Spanish.
