Such a fun night under the stars! The waters were calm. We expected more bioluminescence waters (like the pictures), but we saw a bunch of jumping fish and learned a lot from our guide “Terrence” about the history & ecosystem! Thank you 💦
The bioluminescence itself was beautiful, and I believe we would have enjoyed this tour much more if we had been able to spend more time experiencing it. Unfortunately, about five minutes into the tour, one kayak cut in front of a tow boat and nearly caused an accident. There was a lot of profanity afterward, from the tug boat driver, naturally, as it could have been really bad! But the guides were just like, well, that’s what happens when you don’t listen. I get it, but maybe have more guides helping with inexperienced? I don’t know. We weren’t experienced but we got the drift of it after a few minutes. I just feel something should be done so everyone could enjoy their time. The same kayakers had difficulty steering and keeping up with the group, eventually needing to be towed by a guide. Another kayak became lost twice, which resulted in multiple stops while the group waited. We ended up spending a significant portion of the tour waiting for others rather than enjoying the bioluminescence. My money felt wasted. Hopefully you have a better experience. The guides were friendly, but I feel the experience suffered because the group was not managed more effectively. What should have been a peaceful and memorable kayak tour became frustrating, and I left feeling like we missed out on a lot of the experience.
Ronnie was painfully goofy. The bio was good and stars were beautiful.
This was the highlight of our vacation! I was afraid to keep my kiddo out quite late, but he and I both absolutely loved the whole experience and it was WELL worth it. Would absolutely book again. Our guide, Terence and his team were enthusiastic, knowledgeable and friendly—they made it so comfortable and fun.
The experience was excellent - I’ve never seen anything like it! The guides were very knowledgeable and did a great job at reading the group.
We had an AMAZING time with our guide Terrence. We did the 11pm tour and saw so much bioluminescence and learned a great deal about the history of the area. We caught comb jelly (and released them) and it was a beautiful setting. He took photos and videos for us for memories and it was a truly one of a kind experience. Would highly recommend and Terrence was awesome! Bugs were also not as bad as we thought, but we doused ourselves in spray and brought long pants and shirts. Recommend brining towels for after and bug spray for on the kayak. Phone camera do not do this experience justice. It’s out of this world!
It was just my mom and I on the tour and we had Javier who was wonderful! He was so sweet and funny. It was a full moon so the glowing wasn't as vibrant but it was still amazing to see! A few manatees swam near us and a shrimp jumped into our kayak! Such a cool experience and we loved it!
This bioluminescent kayaking experience was AMAZING!! Javier and Hope weren’t only experienced and knowledgeable but also fun and made it exciting and enjoyable especially for our groups being first time kayakers. Our High school seniors graduates had fun in spite of the mosquitoes. lol advice to potential kayakers TAKE LOTS OF BUG SPRAY! And anti itch cream for the following day.
We had so much fun! So so glad we came prepared- heavy duty bug spray to keep the swarming mosquitos away- it worked and we were fine. There are even portable potty’s at the launch area so we girls were fine.
There was only one guide for 9 people of which 6 had never been in a kayak. The active water way was seriously scary. A large travelling barge and shrimp boats everywhere. Lots of downed trees that could not be seen in the dark. These factors made it very uneasy. The other company had 5 guides with there group. Freedom made the best of what she had.
