Initialement connue sous le nom de Porta Appia, cette porte enjambait la voie Appienne, la « regina viarum » (la reine des routes), qui prenait son point de départ à la Porta Capena, dans le mur de Servius.
Les catacombes de Rome (en italien : Catacombe di Roma) sont d'anciennes catacombes, des lieux de sépulture souterrains situés à Rome et dans ses environs, dont on dénombre au moins quarante, certaines n'ayant été redécouvertes qu'au cours des dernières décennies.
La Voie Appienne (en latin et en Italien : Via Appia) est l'une des plus anciennes voies romaines de la République antique et l'une des plus importantes sur le plan stratégique. Elle reliait Rome à Brindisi, dans le sud-est de l'Italie. Son importance est soulignée par son nom commun, rapporté par Stace, « Appia longarum… regina viarum » (« la Voie Appienne, reine des longues routes »). Cette route porte le nom d'Appius Claudius Caecus, le censeur romain qui, en 312 av. J.-C., pendant les guerres samnites, a lancé et achevé la construction du premier tronçon, alors conçu comme une voie militaire menant vers le sud.
Santa Maria in Palmis, également connue sous le nom de Chiesa del Domine Quo Vadis, est une petite église située au sud-est de Rome. Elle se trouve à environ 800 mètres de la Porta San Sebastiano, là où la Via Ardeatina bifurque de la Via Appia, à l'endroit où, selon les Actes apocryphes de Pierre, saint Pierre aurait rencontré le Christ ressuscité alors qu'il fuyait les persécutions à Rome. La villa de Maxence est une villa impériale située à Rome, construite par l'empereur romain Maxence. Le complexe est situé entre le deuxième et le troisième mille de l'ancienne voie Appienne et se compose de trois bâtiments principaux : le palais, le cirque de Maxence et le mausolée dynastique, conçus comme un ensemble architectural indissociable destiné à rendre hommage à Maxence.
La pyramide de Cestius est une pyramide datant de l'époque romaine située à Rome, en Italie, près de la Porta San Paolo et du cimetière protestant. Elle a été construite pour servir de tombeau à Gaius Cestius, membre de la corporation religieuse des Épulons. Grâce à son intégration dans les fortifications de la ville, c'est aujourd'hui l'un des édifices antiques les mieux conservés de Rome.
La basilique papale Saint-Paul-hors-les-Murs (en italien : Basilica Papale di San Paolo fuori le Mura) est l'une des quatre grandes basiliques papales de Rome[a], aux côtés des basiliques Saint-Jean-de-Latran, Saint-Pierre et Sainte-Marie-Majeure, ainsi que l'une des sept églises de pèlerinage de Rome.
Le Jardin des Orangers est le nom donné à Rome au Parco Savello. Il s'étend sur environ 7 800 mètres carrés et se trouve sur la colline de l'Aventin. Le parc offre une vue imprenable sur la ville. Le jardin, tel qu'il se présente aujourd'hui, a été conçu en 1932 par Raffaele De Vico.
La colline de l'Aventin est la plus méridionale des sept collines de Rome.
Le Circus Maximus est un ancien stade romain dédié aux courses de chars et aux spectacles de masse, situé à Rome, en Italie. Situé dans la vallée entre les collines de l'Aventin et du Palatin, ce fut le premier et le plus grand stade de la Rome antique et de l'Empire romain qui lui succéda.

Our driver Stefano was prompt, courteous, and accommodated every request we had! He used his knowledge of the city and sites that we wanted to visit to make our day easy and fun. We were able to tour all the basilicas we wanted and go through the Holy Doors for the Jubilee year. Even though we were hampered by a foot injury, Stefano found a way to easily get us into every site with minimal difficulty. We were so very well cared for - it was an exceptional experience. Stefano found us a charming restaurant to eat before returning to our hotel at the airport. He also made time to help us with some personal errands! Best insider tour of the most interesting historical Christian sites in Rome. The Church of Domine Quo Vadis was something that we would have missed, and it was amazing - the story of St. Peter told in one tiny church and even a sculpture by Michelangelo. Also the Villa of the Roman emperor Maxentius where we saw the emperor’s private version of the Circus Maximus.
