Description
Continuez le long de la route côtière en passant les magnifiques plages de Glyfada, Vouliagmeni et Varkiza jusqu'au point le plus au sud de l'Attique, le cap Sounion. Où se dressent les piliers de marbre blanc du temple de Poséidon. En chemin, vous aurez une vue splendide sur le golfe Saronique et les petites îles au large. Après avoir visité le Temple de Poséidon, vous aurez du temps libre pour vous promener à loisir sur le promontoire rocheux de Sounion.

La Riviera d'Athènes est la zone côtière dans la banlieue sud d'Athènes, en Grèce, du Pirée à Sounio.
Le cap Sounion est l'un des endroits les plus impressionnants du front de mer à ne pas manquer pendant vos vacances à Athènes, car il n'est situé qu'à environ 70 minutes de la ville en voiture. Le splendide promontoire rocheux qui s'élève de la mer Égée est l'endroit où se trouve le temple de Poséidon, l'un des sites archéologiques les plus importants de Grèce.
Cet endroit était émotionnellement important pour les Athéniens, car c'était le dernier point de leur terre que les anciens marins et guerriers athéniens pouvaient voir lorsqu'ils naviguaient dans la mer Égée et autour de la mer Méditerranée et c'était aussi le premier endroit de l'Attique à voir quand ils sont revenus du voyage ou de la guerre. C'est pourquoi les Athéniens décidèrent d'y construire un temple, dédié à Poséidon, le dieu de la mer, pour leur offrir de belles balades en mer afin qu'ils rentrent chez eux sains et saufs.

Really enjoyed this tour. Too bad we had an overcast day … but you get what you get. Still it was amazing to see and the views of the ocean en route were great. Kudos to our guide who had a bilingual group ( Fr/en). And well done to our driver on those hairpin turns and dealing with the traffic. . Hotel pick up and drop off great. Worth the trip just for the experience!

They forgot to pick us up. Very irresponsible and unprofessional. We waited at the designated area in the hot sun for over an hour. Ruined the evening.
The drive to the cape return is 3 hours. Was good to see the sunset on a clear day and on the last day of 2024. The bus picks up people at designated spots and there are several stops on the way back. The guide was informative and would point out stuff to us which wasn't part of the tour. Great that it wasn't a very long tour.
You should bring enough time for the Temple of Poseidon as it is quite a large complex. The temple itself is perched high above the Mediterranean with a great all-round view. You can easily imagine how the ancient Greeks used to live here.Unfortunately, this impressive complex is already closed at sunset and you are promptly asked to leave by the staff. Below the bay there are some good seafood restaurants. The journey is also spectacular because you are mostly on the coast.
We really enjoyed the timing of the sunset tour. The ruins are definitely highlighted with the sunset as a dramatic backdrop.
Well worth the long drive. The bus was comfortable and the views along the coast were amazing. Everyone was very nice and accommodating.
The temple was great and the drive there was lovely. The guide (Niki?) was okay but not overly engaging. It sounded like she was reading from a script. The view was spectacular, but unfortunately we went on an evening with lots of clouds. It would be breathtaking on a clear evening.
Really fun experience! The tour guide and driver were great. Going in the evening (530pm tour) is the way to go for the full sunset timeframe.
