This was wonderful. Our meal was excellent. I had the beef tenderloin and my husband had the salmon. Both dishes were cooked perfectly. The salad was simple but so good. The homemade cream puff was amazing. Carlos did an outstanding job and was so friendly. The scenery was absolutely incredible. The sunset as we were coming in was beautiful. Highly recommend this cruise.
This is a totally enjoyable evening on the water. Food was excellent! Carlos took great care of us all. And the views were just breathtaking the entire cruise; ending with a spectacular sunset. We did this 2 years ago and really enjoyed it. This time was even better!
I was glad that we booked the sunset dinner cruise on Lake Powell. It's pricy, but you get a dinner along with a boat ride at the best time of the day when the rocks are lit up by the setting sun. We arrived at the Lake Powell Resort a half hour before our cruise time, and waited about 15 minutes before we were called outside for a short walk down to where an open-air shuttle drives passengers down to the boat. The boat is clean and the table settings were elegant. Tables were assigned and we found our name. Alcohol is available for purchase, but I opted for the included lemonade, which was very good. Salad bowls were on the table - greens, shredded mozzarella, and blackberries, served with little pitchers of ranch dressing. The rolls and butter were excellent. I'd describe the dinner as what you would get at a banquet, not gourmet, but decent. Several choices are available - beef, salmon, chicken, and vegetarian. We both opted for the beef, which was served with gravy, mashed potatoes, and roasted carrots. A small custard-filled eclair topped with whipped cream and a raspberry was the dessert. Carlos did an excellent job of serving and cleaning up after us. The best part was seeing all the beautiful rock formations on Lake Powell. The cruise was 2 hours long, and the sun set about an hour into the ride. It's still light for a while after sunset, but by the time we returned it was dark. If I were in charge of scheduling, I'd have the boat leave earlier so that you aren't sailing in darkness. Tips: Go up on the open air top deck for more views. Bring a jacket since you will be on an open-air shuttle returning to the lodge after dark. Bring some cash to tip the host/server. Talk to the other guests - we really enjoyed speaking with the other folks we met on the cruise.
