Our guide, Raphael, was great! He was very knowledgeable and took us past a hangout islet for Stellar sea lions (fun, but stay upwind!) on the way to the humpbacks, orcas and more humpbacks. We had to stay a good distance away from the orcas due to Canadian regulations (there are patrol boats), but we did see a pod of them for quite a while. After lunch the waves got quite choppy on our way south where several humpbacks were hanging out. They love the waves and saw a lot of breaching and splashing on fins. Fair warning - the Zodiac really slams down hard in the waves, but we were rewarded with seeing many more whales there than in the calmer bays earlier, so no pain, no gain!
Thank you for sharing such a detailed account of your trip with us! We’re so glad to hear you had a great time with Raphael—he’ll be thrilled to know his knowledge and guiding made the experience memorable. It sounds like you had an incredible day on the water, from the Stellar sea lions to multiple encounters with humpbacks and orcas. Those choppier Zodiac rides can definitely be a wild ride, but we’re happy it paid off with so many whale sightings and exciting behaviour. We appreciate your thoughtful feedback. We hope to welcome you back out with us again for another adventure soon!
I would say this was a very average trip. We saw little wildlife in 6 hours however the scenery was stunning. I was unconvinced by the knowledge of our guide. The boat was comfortable and lunch was nice.
Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We're pleased to hear that you enjoyed the stunning scenery, found the boat comfortable, and appreciated the lunch provided during the tour. We're naturally disappointed that the wildlife viewing did not meet your expectations. As with all wildlife tours, sightings can vary significantly from day to day. While our team uses local knowledge, recent sightings, tides, weather conditions, and animal behaviour to maximize opportunities, wildlife remains unpredictable and cannot be guaranteed. Regarding your comments about the guide's knowledge, we take this feedback seriously. Our guides and captains undergo extensive training and continuously build their understanding of the marine and coastal ecosystems we operate in. That said, we are always looking for ways to improve the guest experience and will take your comments into consideration. Thank you again for joining us, and we wish you all the best with the rest of your travels.

Today a 6 hour Whale Watching Tour done with a zodiac. We almost had a private tour. With 1 other couple and our guide/captain Justine. She gave us a very nice day. Several wild life animals seen including killer whales, sea lions and a humpback whale. We look back on a very beautiful day. Eagles Eye Adventures thanks! Arjan and Vengy

We're delighted to hear that you enjoyed your 6-hour Whale Watching Tour and that the small group setting made the experience even more special. It sounds like you had a fantastic day on the water with Justine and were lucky enough to see an amazing variety of wildlife, including orcas, sea lions, and a humpback whale. We will be sure to pass your kind words on to Justine. She is passionate about sharing the beauty of our coastal waters and wildlife with our guests, and we're thrilled she helped make your day so memorable. Thank you for choosing Eagle Eye Adventures. We hope to welcome you back for another adventure in the future! Kind regards, The Eagle Eye Adventures Team
Had a very nice Zodiak tour from 6-7 hours. Group of 7 humpback whales spotted and a few more further down. The humpback whales jumped out of the water a few times! 3 orcas spotted, seals, American bald eagle, black oystercatchers, tern with young. All in all had a very good trip with also very nice weather!
Thank you so much for your lovely review! It sounds like you had an incredible day on the water—seeing humpbacks breaching, orcas, seals, and so many beautiful birds is truly something special. We're so glad the weather cooperated too and made the experience even more enjoyable. We appreciate you joining us and hope to welcome you back for another adventure soon!
Absolutely outstanding! This is by far the best wildlife trip we have ever been on. We are a family of four (two kids included) who went on the 6 hour whale watching trip from Campbell River in July 2025 on a warm and sunny day. Everything was so professional from the minute we arrived. The reception staff got us kitted out with thick all in one suits which were brilliant and very much needed when out in open waters going at speed as the wind was cold. We were introduced to our tour guide and captain for the day, Andreas. He gave us a full and thorough safety brief and a rough idea as to what the day would potentially involve. He made it clear from the beginning that the safety and welfare of the wildlife was top priority. He would not manoeuvre the boat too close to the sealife to avoid stressing it out. There is a clear policy of alerting other nearby boats know that they are approaching an animal- a flag is waved to tell them to slow down. Andreas did this on a number of occasions. Then the magic started. Within minutes we were watching a group or orcas. Over the next two hours we saw 8 humpback whales. Andreas was so informative, answering so many questions and telling us a lot about the animals. He knew the area so well and his knowledge of the marine life was fantastic. He navigated us north around many of the islands in the archipelago, knowing the best spots to see the wildlife and appreciate the stunning scenery. In these areas we saw around a dozen bald eagles, a sea otter (a rare site for this time of year), seals and sea lions. Andreas asked us on a couple of occasions what our preferences were for where to go next but we allowed him to guide us to the best spots. We stopped at a lovely spot for lunch which was provided by Eagle Eye Adventures and included sandwiches, cookies, plenty of drink options (both hot and cold), little chocolates, fresh fruit juice etc. Special thanks to the company for provided a gluten free lunch for my husband. I honestly can’t fault anything about this tour. Andreas was an amazing host for the day and the trip was an exciting adventure that massively exceeded our expectations. It was suitable for our children who were thrilled by the speed of the boat and captivated by the wildlife. I wish we had booked a bear watching trip too but we didn’t have enough days left on our trip. Although this experience was expensive, the price is completely competitive with other tour companies and completely worth every penny we spent on it. Thank you so much for our amazing day!
Thank you so much for this absolutely wonderful and detailed review! We're truly honored that you consider this the best wildlife trip your family has ever been on—that means a great deal to us. It’s fantastic to hear that you and your children had such a memorable experience out on the water, and that the sunshine, marine life, and scenic beauty of the Campbell River area all came together for an unforgettable day. We're especially glad the zodiac ride was exciting yet comfortable, and that the provided gear and lunch (including the gluten-free option) helped make the experience even better. A huge thank you for your kind words about Andreas—we’ll be sure to pass them along to him. He’s incredibly passionate about both the wildlife and ensuring a respectful, educational, and safe experience for all guests, and we’re so happy to hear his knowledge and care made such an impact. We’d absolutely love to welcome you back in the future—hopefully next time you can join us for a bear watching adventure too! Until then, thank you again for choosing us and for taking the time to share such thoughtful feedback.
The biggest reason for our trip to VC Island was a whale-watching tour. After researching the options, we chose to travel to Campbell River and take a tour with Eagle Eye Adventures. Our research showed that the boats coming from Victoria were much larger, more boats and had less care for the animals. And we were right. There were 8 tourists and a captain on the boat and the captain really respected the animals. In the morning we spotted a couple of humpback whales just swimming and some jumping out of the water. The lunch was good and the location where we stopped to eat and take a break was beautiful. After the lunch we also saw a couple of orcas. The 6 hours were over before we knew it! The captain was great! She had a lot of knowledge, respect for the animals and a big camera to take some spectacular photos (they are on their FB). The jumping humpback whales made this a unique experience and something we will never forget. We would definitely do another trip with them! We might even travel back just to do another tour.
Thank you so much for your thoughtful and detailed review! We’re thrilled to hear that your whale-watching adventure with us was such a highlight of your trip to Vancouver Island. It means a lot that you chose Eagle Eye Adventures after doing your research — we’re passionate about respectful wildlife viewing and creating meaningful experiences for our guests. We’d be honoured to welcome you back anytime for another tour. Thank you again for joining us and for supporting ethical wildlife tourism!
Great day out with Benji captaining powerful open air Rib. It is the expertise of the area, and timings of tides and coms with other tour boats that can make the difference I what you see. Benji, with his high energy & optimistic approach made the 6 hours fly by as well as providing knowledge in an interesting way that illustrated that he is a true local! The longer trip is definitely recommended due to the long distances needed to find the wildlife and give time to actually watch the whales rather than grabbing a quick glance, Delicious and thoughtful local packed lunch. The company clearly has nature conservation in mind.
Thank you for sharing your experience! We're so glad to hear that you really enjoyed the adventure and your time with our guide, Benji. He truly has a wealth of knowledge about the area. With the 6-hour tour, there’s definitely more time to explore and immerse yourself in the surroundings. It also allows us to spend more time observing wildlife, which makes the experience even more special. Thank you again for joining us.
Had a wonderful trip of six hours, seen many orcas, dolphins Eagles and sea lions. Got good information from the captain on the way. Highly recommended.
Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us! We're thrilled to hear you had a great time and spotted so much wildlife along the way. It was a pleasure having you with us on this adventure—thank you for joining!
We had an awesome time on our 6 hour Zodiac tour. Captain Benji was great. A really nice guy full of information and you could see he loved his job. The young lady in the office was also very nice and very helpful. We saw Killer Whales, Eagles, Seals, Dolphins and a heap of really beautiful scenery. Lunch was provided and was fresh and enjoyable. Like all tours of this kind, nothing is guaranteed, but we had a fantastic day and we got to tick off a few things on to see wildlife list.
Hi Dave, Thank you for your thoughtful message and for understanding that wildlife encounters are never guaranteed. That said, we’re absolutely thrilled you had such a rewarding experience on the water! Nature has a way of surprising us, and it sounds like your trip delivered some memorable moments. I’ll be sure to share your kind words with Benji and Tessa—they’ll be happy to know their efforts made a difference in your day. We truly appreciate you choosing to explore with us and hope to have the pleasure of welcoming you back on another adventure in the future.
