Randonnée à travers l'écosystème de la forêt primaire de nuages, après la division intercontinentale de l'eau et finalement faire une promenade étonnante à travers les hautes terres pour exprimer la forêt unique de Polylepis. Le parc comprend environ 768 lacs dans une superficie de 70 533 acres. C'est l'une des sources d'eau les plus importantes à Cuenca et en Equateur

Itinéraire
Le parc national de Cajas est situé à 40 minutes de route de Cuenca. Il a acquis une notoriété internationale dans plusieurs catégories telles que : les zones humides d'importance internationale par RAMSAR et la réserve de biosphère par l'UNESCO en 2013. Nous visiterons d'abord la voie navigable de division, puis nous commencerons une randonnée modérée de 2 heures et demie (selon le rythme du groupe) dans les hautes terres à travers l'écosystème des marécages et des lacs. Notre guide naturaliste repérera une partie de la flore endémique et expliquera certains des principaux faits de la géologie, de l'histoire et de la culture de la région. Ensuite, nous arriverons à la forêt unique d'arbres polylepis, qui sont considérés comme certains des arbres à la croissance la plus élevée au monde. Avant de retourner à Cuenca, nous déjeunerons dans un restaurant traditionnel de la région. La spécialité c'est la truite !
Ensuite, nous continuerons notre visite avec une randonnée douce d'une heure et demie dans la région de Llaviuco, située dans la partie inférieure de la partie du parc à travers l'écosystème de la forêt primaire de montagne, également connue sous le nom de "Forêt des nuages". C'est une excellente occasion de s'acclimater pendant que notre guide naturaliste vous montre quelques-uns des principaux aspects de la flore et de la faune locales.

- Pour 1 à 6 passagers, un guide bilingue sera également le chauffeur. Pour plus de 6 passagers, un chauffeur et un guide bilingue seront mis à disposition. Taille maximale du groupe 15 voyageurs.

It is a unique experience. Our guide, Xavier, is a man with great knowledge of the Park and unmatched kindness. His explanations and teachings were very valuable to us. He took his time during the walk and was always attentive to us, asking how we felt and making pauses during the tour. We learned about the vegetation and wildlife of the Park because Xavier explained everything to us in detail. Very beautiful tour!
Fabulous walk in El Cajas national park with an excellent guide, Diego. He was very knowledgeable and patient as the altitude slowed me down on some of the steep uphills. Please note that the tour was not as advertised, as the laguna Llavuicu has been closed since 2024 & the tour itinerary has not been updated. The longer walk in El Cajas was an excellent alternative. Lunch was delicious.

I've seen a lot of nature parks and protected areas in Ecuador and across the Americas and can say this is truly one worth visiting. Xavier was our guide and did an excellent job of responding and adapting to collecive interests and abilities. He knows a lot about flora and fauna, making the experience truly excellent. There were so many trail options, and he did a great job describing them so we could decide the pace and difículty we were willing to go to see as much as possible. If you have never hiked in Paramo before, be prepared for cold humidity and wet shoes.

Diego was an outstanding guide, full of botanical and historical knowledge. He is friendly and fluent in English.
