Our family of ten had an unforgettable tour through the magnificent GEM Museum in Cairo today. Among other things, we were able to marvel at the complete Tutankhamun exhibition. We were left with magnificent impressions. Our guide Ekramy led us through the museum in a pleasant way, with many exciting details and great knowledge. Our heartfelt thanks to him.
A very good tour with a great tour guide. The tour can be 100% recommended.
Our Cairo trip was certainly an adventure and gave us some unforgettable memories, but there are also several things that could be improved. The day started at 00:30 with our hotel pick-up. The minibus arrived about 10 minutes late, and both the vehicle and license plate were different from the information/photo we had received. The air conditioning barely worked and several seats were worn out, which made the approximately 45-minute transfer uncomfortable. Once we transferred to the main coach, things improved considerably. It was a comfortable touring coach with good seats and working air conditioning. Bottled water and cookies were provided. Unfortunately, we then waited another 30 minutes for other participants before finally heading towards Cairo. At a security checkpoint we also had to wait around an hour. The absolute highlight of the organisation was our guide Manal. She deserves more than 5 stars. She is knowledgeable, enthusiastic and clearly passionate about Egyptian history. Her explanations at both the Pyramids and the Grand Egyptian Museum were excellent. Manal also arranged additional tickets for us to enter the Great Pyramid and for a horse-and-carriage ride into the desert. Not having to organise these things ourselves was very convenient. The Pyramids were absolutely breathtaking, and entering the Great Pyramid was an experience I will never forget. The Sphinx was interesting as well. Afterwards, however, we visited a local perfume/fragrance centre. Personally, I didn’t understand the added value of this stop and would rather have spent those 20 minutes elsewhere. Lunch finally followed at around 14:30. It was okay – nothing special, but certainly not bad either. The Grand Egyptian Museum was another highlight. Manal first showed us some important pieces and explained their history before we had approximately one hour to explore independently. For a museum of this size and importance, I felt that one hour was simply too short. The biggest downside was the duration of the excursion. It was advertised as approximately 19 hours including hotel pick-up and drop-off. We left our hotel at 00:30 and finally returned at around 01:00 the following night – a total of approximately 24½ hours. I understand that traffic and security checkpoints cannot always be predicted, but travellers should be aware that the actual day can be considerably longer than advertised. I also found it surprising that from approximately 23:50 onwards there was no longer an OceanAir Travels representative accompanying us on the bus, even though guests were still being dropped off at their hotels. Would I recommend seeing Cairo, the Pyramids and the Grand Egyptian Museum? Absolutely. These are incredible places and memories I will keep for the rest of my life. Would I personally do it again this way from Hurghada by bus? No. It was a very special adventure and I’m glad I experienced it, but 24½ hours made the day simply too long and exhausting. A special thank you to Manal – she truly made the difference and turned a very long day into a fascinating journey through Egyptian history.
We had a wonderful day trip to Cairo. The contact and organization on site were great. The bus to Cairo was air-conditioned and the seats were adjustable enough that sleeping was possible. There were packed lunches on both the trip there and the trip back, so everyone was taken care of. Once we arrived in Cairo, we were divided into small groups of 14 people and our German-speaking guide Ekramy introduced himself. He possessed extensive knowledge of the pyramids and the Egyptian Museum. He could answer every individual question and it did not get boring for children either, because he was involved with a lot of wit and fun. We were even able to watch the production of papyrus, in addition to the pyramids and the museum. It was incredibly exciting and informative. We also had a German-language explanation during the papyrus production. We had our lunch break at a local restaurant. We were able to choose between 3 main courses in advance. In addition, there was a soup as an appetizer, various dips and breads, and a sweet local dessert. Everything was served quickly and was extremely delicious. Ekramy organized everything perfectly and we are grateful to have met such a lovely person.
Many thanks to our great guide, Ekramy. He explained everything to us in an incredibly exciting way, and was very charming and patient. The tour was really worth it. The food during the tour was delicious. Many thanks again, I can really recommend this tour.
The most memorable part of the trip is the moment you arrive at the Giza plateau and take in the pyramids, it is absolutely breathtaking. It was a tiring day after travelling from Hurghada to Giza during the night, but our tour guide, Dina, didn’t let us bring tired stop her from giving a phenomenal tour. She kept us all together away from the scamming sellers set up near the sites, gave us free time to explore comfortably at our own pace both at the pyramids and at the GEM, honestly, 5 stars just for Dina. We went as a family of four with two younger children, it’s a hard day for them, but there are places to get ice cream and ice coffees to keep everyone happy and cool off in the hot sun.
The trip with ikramy was very, very good, highly recommended, top tour guide, everything was great
We had such a great experience with this company! Everything was well organized from start to finish, and the day was absolutely unforgettable A special thank you to our guide, Bassant (Flower). She was honestly the best! She took great care of everyone, made sure we were all comfortable, and answered every question with so much patience and knowledge. You can really tell she loves what she does, and she made the whole experience even more special The buffet lunch was also amazing—so many different options, and everything was really tasty I would definitely recommend this tour, especially if you get Bassant as your guide❤️
It was an absolutely great day. Our guide "Adel" took an extraordinary amount of time to explain Egyptian history. That was truly fascinating. Thank you for that.
We had the great fortune to visit the pyramids, the Sphinx, and the Grand Egyptian Museum with our guide Ekramy. The tour was excellently organized, very informative, and simultaneously entertaining. Our guide possessed impressive knowledge of the history of Egypt and was able to convey many exciting details clearly and with great enthusiasm.
