The guide Betty contacted us the day before the tour to coordinate the meeting point. The next day we met at the subway station without problems. Her English was good and on the way to the wall she explained about the history of the great wall, the different options for moving around the wall, food options and so on. Betty was very kind and full of energy, she patiently explained the options and helped us book the one we wanted to do. She also helped us with tips and information beyond the contents of the tour, since it was our first time in china, and she was always very kind and respectful about it, so thank you very much!!

The Great Wall was amazing without a doubt. The guide did speak English but the explanation of history was difficult to follow. It was boring at times as the guide explained everything in different languages so everything became chaotic. On the bus on the way to the Great Wall, the guide explained there were additional charges recommended for cable cars and even a tour of the Olympic Stadium, and upsold and almost insisted it was essential for a good experience. This was completely unexpected. After taking payment upfront, we arrived at the Olympic Stadium later in the day to be told at this point that there were no English tours so we followed a Chinese tour without knowing what was happening. The tour guide originally said he would join as at the tour but left us beforehand. We weren’t taken back to the pick up collection, just left at the stadium without knowing where to go to get back to the hotels. Get Your Guide offered a partial refund for the initial payment but not for the unsatisfactory and unexpected additional costs that did not deliver to the expected standards.
