We often take the Hop-on, Hop-off as a ‘sampler’ when visiting a new destination. We are then able to decide which areas deserve more time. At minimum, it’s inexpensive transportation and we won’t get lost. Our advice is to skip Lima’s hop-on, hop-off unless you are looking for an uncomfortable drive through traffic. We purchased both the Yellow and Red routes, but neither was beneficial. Staff was friendly, but the map must’ve been designed by a failed intern. The route was stops 1,2,1,4,5,6,2,3,1,2,3. Each listed with times of arrival and departure but the guides advised us to ignore the arrival times. Perhaps it was a treasure map. One of the highlights of the yellow tour is to visit the central city. We can understand why, it’s the cleanest area outside of Miraflores and boasts churches and political mansions. However, there is a large military presence here. It’s a fine line. A visible and approachable police force, even if large, can be reassuring to a foreign tourist. Police are meant to protect the people. A military presence with automatic weapons, no matter its size, is intimidating and makes you wonder what is happening for which I’m unaware. A military is meant to fight an enemy, so are we that enemy? Instead of finding the answer, we stayed on the bus, forgoing institutional buildings and opting for another hour of fighting traffic. For Lima, skip the hop-on, hop-off. Take a taxi to the beautiful park which hugs the coastline and walk to Miraflores from there.
Very nice tour an Jose Carlos, our guide, was excelent!
Great dynamics, we know many points of the city, using transportation.
For starters, our tour guide was not only friendly, but also knowledgeable. He knew how to warm up to the crew. I wad with my 4 year old daughter and he even addressed her to fill her in what was going on. Nice Guy!
Excellent service from the guide Jazmin, very professional.
We had a wonderful time with our guide Carlos. He was very professional, friendly and entertaining. He really knows the history of Peru and we learned a lot. We highly recommend this tour and if you can get Carlos as your guide you would definitely have a wonderful experience.
A very complete and varied Tour to get to know a large part of Lima and its historical and cultural wealth. Our guide, José Carlos, was very kind and attentive at all times, explaining every detail both on the bus and during the walk through the historic center. Absolutely recommended and unmissable for those visiting Lima.
Jose Carlos the guide is highly recommended, very knowledgeable and passionate
Good tour by Jose Carlos in the historic center
The Turibus was fun but I was very confused as to how to find the place to get on it. I called TripAdvisor’s number and they sent me a couple of addresses to go to, but I thought that could have been made clearer from the original booking. It was not clear to me that there were only two places that we were supposed to start to get on the bus??-I thought it was supposed to be hop-on/hop-off anywhere on route. Luckily we stopped a bus and they let us on.
Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback! We are thrilled to hear that you had a fun time on the Turibus. We are very sorry for the confusion regarding the boarding locations. We understand that having to call for directions can be frustrating, and your comments are incredibly helpful. We are currently reviewing our booking details to ensure our main starting points are much clearer for future passengers. We are glad you were able to get on board and enjoy the tour. We hope to welcome you again soon! 💛
