Le voyage commence tôt le matin à Bucarest en direction du nord.
Le barrage de Vidraru est l'un des plus grands barrages hydroélectriques de Roumanie. Il est situé au début de la rivière Arges car il a été construit entre 1960 et 1965 et a une hauteur de 166 mètres (545 pieds). Le barrage forme un lac d'une capacité moyenne de 465 millions de mètres cubes (16,2 milliards de pieds cubes) et d'une superficie de 22,5 kilomètres carrés (8,7 miles carrés). Le barrage est utilisé pour produire de l'électricité et réguler le débit de la rivière Argeș. Admirez les superbes vues sur la forêt, les montagnes et le lac.
Profitez d'une balade mémorable le long de la pittoresque Transfagarasan, déclarée par Top Gear "la meilleure route du monde". Construite en hauteur dans les montagnes Fagaras, la route s'étend sur 100 km, offrant des vues à couper le souffle. La cascade de Capra est un spectacle spectaculaire au sommet de la montagne avec une vue incroyable et ses eaux en cascade plongeant sur les falaises. Les visiteurs pourront explorer les environs et profiter de l’atmosphère paisible de la cascade.
Atteignez le sommet du lac Bâlea, un lac glaciaire situé à 2 034 m d'altitude dans les montagnes de Făgăraș, au centre de la Roumanie, dans le comté de Sibiu. Pendant la période hivernale, deux chalets sont placés au-dessus du lac, une station météorologique toute l'année et un poste de secours en montagne avec des bergers qui traversent toujours la montagne car les anciens chemins sont toujours conservés. L'emplacement est accessible en voiture par la route Transfăgărășan pendant l'été et le reste de l'année par un téléphérique depuis Bâlea.

It was a fantastic day. Pick up in Bucharest, then off to the mountains. We had a short comfort break to grab some breakfast and coffee then we went along the Top Gear road up to the lake. Unfortunately it was foggy, but the food in the tent was amazing. On the way up and down we saw 6 bears. A photostop and pause at the dam before heading back. 12 hour trip and worth every penny.
The trip was really nice. Very scenic roads. Lake view was ruined by fog.. but saw 6-7 bears on the way and back. Special thanks to our guide Andrio.

Great experience overall thanks to Stefan , our driver :) Great and safe drive with good sized a/c vans , good and accurate communication, we did many stops as per plan, we met more than 10 bears and few baby bears , lovely day and recommended to anyone visiting Bucharest for a day trip
Wonderful day in the mountains , the needle road very funny, secure meeting with bears, lake Balea is a must and the dam very interesting. Precision for the meeting point would help taxi drivers because the hotel doesn’t exist anymore.

9 hours on a bus!!!! that is honestly too much the guide was non-existent, other than wasting our time in the morning with the bus stopped to explain to us what everyone already knew the mountain road is indeed beautiful but not the most beautiful in the world, I have serious doubts about the bears being in the same spot on the way there and back, the lake is beautiful but there are a hundred cabins and thousands of people and above all only 1 hour and 15 minutes of stop time when it would have needed 2 hours at a minimum, same for the return stops, 5 minutes at the very small waterfall and 8 minutes flat at the dam ...... I do not recommend it, the bus is exhausting

Une précision importante pour les futurs voyageurs : la Transfăgărășan est avant tout un voyage panoramique — la route elle-même est l'attraction, d'où son nom de « Top Gear Road » — et l'itinéraire couvre plus de 500 km aller-retour dans la journée. Nous l'indiquons clairement dans le descriptif, mais nous comprenons que le rythme puisse surprendre. Concernant les ours : ils sont sauvages, mais habitués à la circulation sur cette route, où ils reviennent aux mêmes endroits — c'est précisément pourquoi l'observation depuis le bus est fréquente et sans danger, et nous ne cautionnons jamais leur nourrissage. We saw 19 brown bears 🐻 and our driver did great job with driving and was helpful. Wish more time at top but it’s a long drive from Bucharest.

This is a good trip but it is a long trip on a mini bus the Lake and the Bears are worth it As there is no guide you are given an App code to listen to the tour and that states you stop ay Dracula's castle and the reservoir but that is not the case although our driver did give us a quick stop at the reservoir on the way back. I would like to add that our driver was lovely and very helpful even taking some photos of us

No one said the Transfaragasun Highway was closed so we drove to the waterfall, saw 1 brown bear along the way and were then forced to spend 1h 45 mins before going back the same way. Absolute bloody rip off and a waste of a day. Didn't see the lake either as the road was closed. Never saw the monastery that was mentioned in the audio nor did we stop to see Vlad's castle ruins.

All the limitations you encountered are explicitly detailed in our tour description and the "Information travelers need from you" section, which every guest is required to read before booking. Please allow us to clarify the facts based on our official tour terms: Transfăgărășan Road & Bâlea Lake Closure: Our description clearly states: "From November to May or mid-June, access to Balea Lake Top and Capra Waterfall cannot be reached due to factors beyond the control of the tour operator." As your tour took place on June 6, the high-altitude section of the pass was still officially closed due to snow and safety regulations, exactly as advertised. The Winter/Alternative Itinerary: Our terms explicitly state that if the road is partially closed, "the itinerary will be adjusted with a stop at Curtea de Argeș Monastery and free time at Chalet Ursului for lunch." The audio guide mentions the history of the region, but stopping at the Poenari Citadel (Vlad's castle ruins) is not part of this specific itinerary due to safety or logistics, which is why it is not listed in the stops. Wild Bears Sightings: Seeing wildlife is never guaranteed. However, our terms clearly note: "Presence of wild bears alongside the main public road is subject to availability determined by factors beyond the control of the tour operator." You did, in fact, get to see a wild brown bear during the drive, which fulfills this highlight of the trip.
