We booked this tour for a party of two (husband and wife). On our two-hour walking tour Fabio proved to be extremely knowledgeable, sharing fascinating insights into the history, rich culture, and culinary traditions of Brussels. He effortlessly brought the city to life as we strolled through all the top tourist attractions, including the breathtaking Grand-Place and the iconic Manneken Pis. We especially loved exploring the charming neighborhood of Sablon, admiring the grandeur of the Royal Palace and surroundings, and stopping by some wonderful local chocolate shops to sample the goods. Ok, so I have a mixed review. Our tour guide presented to our hotel on time, properly dressed, and was polite. We started out by introducing ourselves and reviewing our upcoming tour plans. While that is always a good idea, I was trying not to show my readiness to get the tour moving. It started out well as he we walked to the main market place. His knowledge and deep love for his city of Brussels was evident. Once at the market place that is when he started to quiz us on foreign architecture. At first I found it more of an intellectual stimulant. However, as time went on and we were consistently answering his questions incorrectly to the point where there would be very long pauses. Each wrong answer we gave only seemed to annoy him a little more each time. Those very uncomfortable silences gave us the feeling that we were being unfairly judged. I can only conclude that his unfair assessment was due to our nationality. He recommended multiple times that we should read the newspapers more and become aware of what is happening in our country and around the world as if we were completely ignorant in worldly affairs. He was giving this suggestion to two highly educated people. Myself being a doctor. At one point he asked us for the definition of “surrealism .“ While we without a doubt knew it, he didn’t care much for our definition and kept insisting our was incorrect. This may have been due to a language barrier to give him the benefit of the doubt. Now I’m not sure if he was aware of our religious affiliation. The feeling that is did not came from his remarks that insinuated that the leader of a country in which we love deeply was a contributing factor to the problems in our own nation. I’m not writing this in order to cause him trouble. I writing this in order to make him aware of how his words made us feel and to hopefully prevent further uncomfortable clients in the future.

I had Andrea as my private tour guide of Brussels, and I have to say he was very knowledgeable about the city's history as well as hidden secrets of different sites that he showed me along the way. Majid was an experienced guide. Bonus that he is a doctoral student in architecture. The two hour tour was well paced and provided great coverage of the city. Be prepared for a lot of walking. He showed up on time at my hotel and ended the tour at my hotel. Learned a lot. Enjoyed walking through the park. Stopped at Mary’s, the female started chocolatier shop that serves the king. Transparent about Brussels’ history of colonization. Stopped at great picture spots and offered to take pictures. He had a laminated notebook with historical pictures or renderings to support your anecdotes.

Patrick made our Brussels walking tour one of the highlights of our trip. His knowledge of the city’s history was incredible, but what really stood out was how he wove it all. We covered the Grand Place, the Manneken Pis, the EU quarter, and a handful of hidden courtyards and comic-strip murals we never would’ve found on our own. Patrick has a great sense of pacing too, he knew when to linger over an interesting building and when to keep things moving. He also had great recommendations for waffles and beer afterward, which we happily took him up on. If you’re visiting Brussels, book a tour with Patrick, you won’t regret it.
