Bristol Chocolate Tour

Description

Went with friends on Saturday morning Although I have lived in Bristol all of my life I learned so much about the history of how chocolate was introduced to Bristol Very informative tour Good for all ages Tasty treats too I have also done the air raid shelter too👍⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Fantastic tour! We really enjoyed it
Brilliant tour, totally recommend it. Duncan is amazing and so knowledgeable. Learnt a lot and had a great time.
What a great tour with Duncan our guide who kept us informed about Bristol’s Chocolate history but made it fun too. We took our granddaughters and they both enjoyed it, especially sampling the treats on the walk!
This was a great tour. Interesting history of chocolate and Bristol's place in it. Fun things to taste on the way. Duncan is an excellent tour guide. Definitely recommend.
Bristol’s sweet history came to life on the Bristol Chocolate Tour, a fascinating wander through the city’s Old Town uncovering the stories behind its long connection to chocolate making. From Bristol’s dark history in the triangular trade and wealth and exploitation that built the city to Fry’s creating the world’s first chocolate bar, the tour revealed just how deeply chocolate is woven into Bristol’s past. Led by the fabulous Duncan, whose passion for Bristol’s hidden history was infectious, we explored medieval streets, old sugar houses, hidden rivers and beautiful historic buildings while sampling plenty of delicious treats along the way. As well as trying raw sugar cane and cacao nibs, we tasted medieval sweet treats, discovered an independent chocolate shop tucked away in the heart of the city, and visited Ruby Hue, a brilliant bean-to-bar chocolate maker. The mix of history, storytelling and chocolate tasting made this such a fun and unique way to explore Bristol. Finishing amongst the bustling independent traders of St Nicholas Market was the perfect ending to the tour. A brilliant experience for anyone with a sweet tooth or an interest in Bristol’s hidden history — highly recommended.
I booked this last minute as I wanted to do the WW2 tour but it was fully booked. It was my birthday so I wanted to do something different. My husband has lived in Bristol for 50 years and I have been here 16, we both learnt a lot about Bristol. The tour guide Duncan was very friendly and informative. He gave the information in a fun way and was open to answering questions all through the tour, even if slightly off topic. I would recommend this tour to anyone wishing to learn new facts about Bristol and who wants to see it in a different way. The tour itself isn't physically taxing but was very interesting and entertaining. There are a few tasty treats along the way. We will be doing the other tours soon, offered by this company.
This was an absolute amazing tour!! Would highly recommend this tour too anyone who is from Bristol or perhaps visiting. For a short break. Duncan our guide was very knowledgeable and made the group of 17 of us feel involved with the chocolate tasting. The admission fee was good value highly worth it. As the tour last long for an hour and an half. There was stuff in this tour we didn’t even know about Bristol. Even though we live here ( so shame on us) overall a great tour with a great guide… ( I’ll be back) - Arnold Schwarzenegger.
We did the chocolate tour at the weekend & it was full of interesting & fascinating facts about Bristol & how chocolate was so important to the city. We had lots of sweet treats along the way & Duncan made the whole experience very informative! Loved it!
Unique look at the origins of the chocolate and sugar trade in Bristol, and learning so much about the city I've lived and places I've walked by loads of times without realising their significance. Duncan is hugely knowledgeable and passionate about the history of Bristol and brings the stories to life with a little theatre and some sweet treats. I really enjoyed sharing some nostalgic sweet treats from my childhood with my daughter that I'd long forgotten about - and discovering some of the other treats that long pre-dated my existence. Highly recommended!
