Description

Amazing wildlife viewing opportunities, the guides were knowledgeable and friendly. The facilities were basic but decent enough for what was promised.
We choose this camp because we wanted to really experience the jungle in a very basic camp. Pick up from our hotel in sandakan was on time and we stoped in a little town for lunch. The camp is located in the middle of nowhere on the river. You will not see any other people which is exactly what we wanted. Food was good, even for a vegetarian. If you want soda etc, you need to bring your own. We slept in a room which had comfortable beds as well as a fan an mosquito nets. Bathrooms and showers were clean, except for lizards or spiders. We loved the river safari and managed to see lots of wildlife. We especially loved seeing the hornbills and kingfishers and all our questions were answered. By far the highlight was the jungle trek. We couldn’t see anything and then Jay pointed out a tarantula, which was bigger than our hands. We saw so many animals and it was a magical experience, that we will not forget. Absolute must do!
Jay and his team at the Tanjung Bulat Jungle Camp were excellent guides and host. We were booked up at our hotel and driven about two hours where we caught a boat to the camp. The camp was comfortable and clean. Soon after we arrived, we took a boat ride where we saw different species of monkeys, birds, even a crock, but no orangutan. After dinner (which was delicious), we took a nature walk around the property and saw birds, snakes, even a tarantula. During breakfast the next morning (which was excellent), Jay called us to come out back and there were a number of orangutans in the trees above the camp. It was definitely the high point of the trip. It was amazing watching them swing from tree to tree. After breakfast, we took another boat ride to another part of the river and saw more wildlife. And then we packed up and returned back to Sendekan.
Great experience, kind and helpful jay and the other guys The field is very basic but honestly I have not missed anything. We have not seen so many animals but you can not expect that every day is like the previous one in which maybe they showed up a little more; it was still beautiful and just the experience of being in the countryside with no one around. Beds all in all comfortable. Running from 6pm to 10pm then complete darkness falls. Highly recommended!
You will not meet any other tourists at this place. The people of Tanjung Bulat do everything to show you as much of nature and animals as possible! An overnight stay in the rainforest is a very special experience.
Nice experience to be in the jungle. Echt back to the basics. We did 1 night as a young family. Was doable, but also enough. Especially the night we found spicy (very hot and clammy). Beautiful nature around you during the day. People were very friendly and helpful and could tell a lot about the flora and fauna.
We booked 2 days and 1 night with my husband and it was a great experience. They picked us up from our hotel and dropped us off the next day. The guides are top, passionate and friendly. The food was good. It's a great experience to do. We did 2 boat trips and a hike at night in the jungle and we could observe monkeys, crocodiles, spiders, birds etc. We did not see elephants because there was a lot of rain and they go inland. We recommend this experience!
Generally it was great. I suggest that driver explain in detail the Tour Activities once he pick up from hotel. We were driving and we don't know what's next. In the other hand, the guys in the camping area are amazing.
This was an awesome experience, we did 2 day 1 night and saw 4 different kinds of Monkeys (including a wild orangutan), crocodiles and heaps of cool birds. Only thing we missed out on were the elephants but just sleeping over in the jungle and waking up to monkeys all around was well worth it. Would have definitely stayed for the 2nd night if we had more time in Sabah. Our guide was knowledgeable and great a spotting animals with some fun stories to tell about the place as well. If we had of brought a beer to have on the riverside at night it would have topped it off. All in all a great time and would do it again.
Everything was amazing for our jungle experience.... picked up from hotel, lunch on way, small boat trip on river to accommodation. Yes it's basic but it's in the jungle and that was the reason for doing the trip.. and as for the wildlife... flying foxes, long tailed lungur, proboscis monkeys, kingfishers, rain forest frogs, millipedes, crocodiles.. Jay our guide was amazing and knowledgeable and great at spotting the wildlife along the river. A an amazing wild adventure!!!
