Amazing to talk with someone who lived through the transition from communist to a capitalist society. Great stories to listen
This tour was the highlight of my trip! The historical context helped me to appreciate the city more.
I did this as a private tour. I was pleasantly surprised that the price for taking it privately was not ridiculously higher than if I joined an existing group as a single person. The tour was fascinating. Ferenc, the guide, was knowledgeable and really open to answering my questions and discussing the complex political issues that are raised through a tour like this. He also enriched the tour by giving me multiple perspectives on the issues, sometimes the perspectives of the different generations of his own family. The tour operator is a great little company that offers a highly personalised level of service. I booked four of their tours while I was in Budapest and was very glad I chose this company
Booked this tour for myself and my husband. It ended up just the two of us with the lovely Ferenc. We had a lovely walk around various areas of Budapest and learned a lot more around the history and political landscape of Hungary. Truly made our weekend break.
Grand! I love learning about history, especially that of the countries I visit. Our tour guide was a darling, a very smart and professional one too! I did not know quite many things about Hungary which now all made sense as we saw the city.
My brother and I booked this tour and we had a great time. It was quite the walk but the tour guide made time pass by with much grace. The guide was very good and answered all our questions. Very nice tour!
My boyfriend and I did the Born Under The Red Star tour as we were interested in learning about the history of Hungary. We love historical tours and this was a really fun experience with a highly professional and knowledgeable guide. I highly recommend this tour and their services!!
My brother recommended this tour since he had done it before. I would say that I learned a lot and the tour was well-planned. The tour guide really knows a lot and I only wished I knew that much too. Really impressive! I highly recommend this tour as well.
We booked Born Under The Red Star with Viator. Our Hungarian local guide was very professional and extremely knowledgeable. It was a 3 hr tour and there’s a bit of walking involved but she kept us interested the entire time. We learned quite a bit about history of Budapest/Hungary. Our tour guide took us to retro bar for drinks midway and showed us restaurants with authentic Hungarian food. We highly recommend this tour for those interested in history!!!
Me and my boyfriend have recently booked a Born Under the Red Star Communist tour with Budapest Urban Walks and it was an amazing experience! Booking was really easy, and the staff was extremely helpful and professional. They replied to all our e-mails straight away, and patiently gave information about anything that we needed to know about the tour and about Budapest. The guide we had (Anita) was very knowledgeable and easygoing - she made sure the tour was entirely tailored to our interests. Being a historical tour, we were slightly worried that it would turn out to be somewhat tedious but our guide shared personal stories with us and she even took us to a retro bar where we had a popular Communist drink!! We absolutely loved it! I highly recommend Budapest Urban Walks and their guides!! Can't wait to go again and try one of their other tours.
