Had a wonderful tour with Jay. He was very knowledgeable and showed us great pubs, beers and local chocolate and waffle shops. Highly recommend!
It was a good tour of the area around the square and good information about the evolution of beer in Belgium. Also went to an excellent chocolate shop which we will revisit before leaving Bruge.
We waited at the meet up spot for 20 minutes and no one showed up, nor did they ever let us know if there had been any changes to the reservation. It wasn't until about 45 minutes after the start of the tour they told me they canceled the tour due to a lack of a guide. Problem is, the tour guide texted me two days prior asking about our stay so there was a guide designated already. We only had one day in Bruges, and this was supposed to be the highlight of our visit. It ended up being the biggest source of frustration for our entire trip to Europe.
Hi Josh, We are truly sorry for the frustration and disappointment caused by the cancellation of your tour in Bruges, especially given that it was meant to be a highlight of your trip. We sincerely apologize for the lack of timely communication and the confusion regarding the assigned guide. This is far from the experience we aim to provide, and we are taking immediate steps to review what went wrong and to improve our processes to prevent such situations in the future. Thank you for sharing your feedback with us. Warm wishes, Withlocals Team
Alain, our tour guide, was exceptional. He was personable, knowledgeable, and fun to be around. It was so wonderful getting to tour Bruges with a local guide - we even found Alain the next day for his boat tour. The beer was outstanding, and we so glad we booked this excursion!
Alain is a very gentil host with a large dosis of humor. He gave us a interesting tour through Brugges.
The beer tour is super fun and also very educational and enriching if you are interested in the Belgian specialty beers. Alain took us to three cafés where we would otherwise never go. Here he always chose three beers for us which were very exclusive and very varied. The guide was also friendly, informal and expert.
As a travel writer who regularly turns to local guides for their expertise, I found Filip to be one of the best guides I have met in years. A model of punctuality, courtesy, and clear communication, Filip possesses an enthusiasm for Bruges/Brugge that is fully matched by his in-depth knowledge of its history, culture, and cuisine. The experience was so enjoyable and informative, like taking a walk with a good friend who happens to be very smart, kind, and entertaining. Unlike guides who simply repeat facts on auto-pilot, Filip offered real insight and was well able to answer my many and wide-ranging questions about Brugge. I should add that while I eagerly stopped to buy some of the foods I learned about, I never felt the least pressure to do so. That was impressive, as were other pleasant surprises--but I leave it to you to discover those for yourself!
This is a great tour to introduce Brugge to any visitor. Igor is charming and has a great depth of knowledge which he shares at a pace to suit you. From the early intro in the main square he takes you through a well paced story of Brugge as you walk around the main sites. He easily fits Brugge into its place in the history of Europe. But if you are a returning visitor or feel well read Igor will be able to go into depth and is likely to find hidden things you may have missed. The original Brugges church under the destroyed Cathedral was a highlight for me.
We really enjoyed meeting and talking with Igor. His knowledge of the area is amazing and we learned so much more. It was well worth the money and more.
On our tour with Fanni we were introduced to parts of the city we never would have found on our own. A relaxed 3 hours tasting some lovely foods while walking the beautiful streets of Bruges. Fanni is funny friendly and knowledgeable. We thought it might be awkward on a eating tour. but these concerns were soon eased at the first stop where we sat and tried the first dish while having a chat about the city the food and what we wanted to get from the experience. People that have mentioned concerns about sharing food are entitled to their opinion. But I would say the sharing was essential otherwise you would eat so much you would roll around like a michelin man!. We left fully satisfied and unable to decide which of the many dishes we tried was the best. I wholeheartedly recommend this. And Fanni is a Brilliant guide. Thank you.
