My two teenage daughters and I attended the wagyu sukiyaki class and had an amazing time. We learned about local ingredients and techniques, and even learned some historical and cultural facts as well. Our dishes were delicious and we were pleased that we were able to produce such beautiful masterpieces. Thank our for the experience.
Best organized activity I did on my Japan trip. Learned a lot, had fun, food was delicious and class was well organized.
It was one of the best cooking classes. The dishes were great and it was a lot of fun. A fabulous experience that I would highly recommend.
Small group, great instructors, great menu. We each prepared our own meal. We leaned techniques in Japanese cooking cuisine ,about the ingredients they use. I fell in love with Japanese cuisine and intend to practice it at home. We were not hungry but we ate it all. In the following days bought the egg pan , cooking tools and a lot of spices.
Great opportunity to learn some common Japanese dishes from scratch from lovely English speaking instructors. Awesome experience for the whole family.
If you’re after authentic Japanese food & recipes, delivered by experienced and knowledgeable people in a small ‘class’ environment, you will be thrilled with this experience. It’s easy to get to with a 7 minute walk from the train station, priced very well (especially given it includes all the ingredients) and is a good way to meet other travellers from different cultures. We highly recommend it.
The cooking experience was a great activity that I will surely do again with family. The staff is amazing. They were welcoming and kind. They made it a memorable experience!!
An excellent introduction to traditional Japanese cooking. Bitufa was clear in her instructions, the ingredients were good quality and the resulting food delicious. I would definitely recommend
I had such a great experience with this cooking class in Tokyo. The instructors were incredibly informative and explained everything in a way that felt approachable and easy to follow, even for someone who doesn’t regularly cook Japanese food. What I appreciated most was how accessible the recipes were — nothing felt intimidating or overly complicated, and each step was clearly explained. I left the class feeling genuinely confident and excited to try making Japanese dishes again once I got home. It was both educational and empowering, and I’d absolutely recommend it to anyone looking for a hands-on, thoughtful introduction to Japanese cooking.
Thank you so much for this wonderful cooking class at Cooking Sun. We cooked a variety of side dishes such as cucumber, omelette (sooo good!), potatoes, pancakes, and more. We also cooked our own wagyu beef, and everything was absolutely delicious!! The class was very interesting, and the three women who taught us were truly kind. I will definitely try to book another class with Cooking Sun in Kyoto because I really loved this experience. It was a true highlight of my trip to Japan. Thank you very much, and see you again soon!
