Almost everything was bad, first of all the price, a crazy amount; if you come as I did in the summer (end of July) it is not impossible to get the ticket at the ticket office for 300% less, given that two tickets cost me 50 euros and at the station you could buy them for 3 euros; second, the tickets arrive very late, the day before at midnight, and on top of that I bought two tickets together but they assigned me two separate seats; third, and worst of all, the reserved cars have closed doors, you have to go to the conductor and hope they open them for you; for more than half the trip we were behind closed doors, only managing to get two opened, so even with fewer people, having only two doors open makes taking photos a struggle. I advise against booking the ticket if you are going in the low season and to save money by buying it directly at the station; furthermore, since the seats are assigned, if you are on the wrong side, you will spend the whole trip looking at rocks or the windows of the people on the right side.
Hello Thank you for your feedback ! You have ordered 2 Second Class reserved tickets on 6th July for 30th July. At that time there weren't any reserved seats was available and we could arrange it for you even after the first booking window. Second Class is the most demanding seat class. Yes you can buy UNRESERVED tickets for that amount from station counter but it doesn't guarantee you a seat. You have to standing all the way for 3 hours. Also you need to understand that you are paying taxes, Viator charges and service charges on top of the ticket price. If you don't want to pay for that, you could simply avoid booking here. And the other thing is you need to come to station early. Otherwise door gets closed when train ready to moving, so you have to ask to open it again. We have continuously communicate with you regarding delivery of tickets and we have provided it at the given time. Really disappointed about your feedback in this matter.
Very disappointed. Booked the train on line 1st class and we thought the train was the scenic train that stopped along the way. There was no stopping, only to drop off and pick up. We boarded at Ambewella. As a 70 year old and most likely my last overseas holiday I was really upset as I was on the understanding that it was the scenic train. I paid $98 AUS. It was something that I always wanted to do! It would have been much cheaper for us to have a private car transfer to Ella. Please be aware people and do your research before booking this train through Viator!
The train stopping at tourist attractions along the way is Ella Odyssey which is only operating on Wednesday at the moment. You were paid for First class tickets in the Podi Menike train leaving at 9 am. As per our conversation, you should follow up given guidelines with the ticket to make good experience out of it. Hope you will enjoy the journey ahead.
One of the best apps for booking train tickets! We booked our train tickets through this app and received confirmed seats without any hassle. The booking process was smooth, quick, and reliable. Highly recommended for anyone planning a train journey!
Total scam - the actual value of the ticket is $9 (it was printed on the ticket) - I paid $36 on here!!!!!! I get you need a mark up for the booking fee and what not, but 300%? That’s an actual joke.
There are extra fees to get reserved seats for last minute reservations. You have ordered 2 days before and we have provided a Reserved Seat for you. You need to understand that booking platforms are charging fees for commissions, marketing and all. As the tour operator, we charge for transport and our service charges. Therefore if you don't like to pay for it, you can come to railway station and get a so called ticket and go standing in a crowded compartment without having a seat. So its up to you to decide what you want to have.
Our tour operator booked this train as it gets booked up quickly . Do take water & snack with you although they come round selling tea coffee , fruit ,nuts (cash only ) I agreed left side has better views but you can go stand near doors to outside .Hold on as it gets bumpy be careful if you lean out to take photo !! A nice trip with Mountain View’s does get busy .
Nice train trip, the booking via Viator was easy and I received the Eticket well in advance! Everything went smoothly on the Dday.
The tickets arrived the next day via mall. Everything is agreed. Very good and fast communication.
Booking was very easy but we received electronic tickets via WhatsApp only few hours before the journey. To make comfort better to send tickets three days before the journey via email as well as WhatsApp.
The train ride itself was not that spectacular and I think it's just become the thing to do in Sri Lanka. Getting the tickets was also stressful as there was no communication from the agent until I chased him twice. I was also only informed the day before that the station I was going to get the train from had been damaged and I needed to go from another station and quickly needed to arrange transportation. Really not impressed with the customer communication.
We have informed you about the railway track damages on 25th February through WhatsApp and email. Its over 2 weeks before your travel date. And clearly sent all necessary details through email, which you must check as mentioned in the tour page.
Very expensive for the seats you're awarded. You get 10 times cheaper by buying it at the train station itself.
Well, if you want you can pay some extra and have a reserved seat. If you don't want a reserved seat, you can buy a cheap unreserved ticket on the station and able to take the train by stand and probably be packed in a crowded compartment. Therefore its up to you to choose.
