We had a great day out here, spending around five hours at Stift Klosterneuburg. To get there it took around 15/20 minutes on the 400 bus from the end of the U4 line but it was so quiet and peaceful- we left all the tourists behind in Vienna! We arrived in time for the 10am guided tour, which was predominantly in English as 4/5 of us were foreigners. That lasted an hour and then we joined the first part of the next tour, which visited the Imperial Apartments. This group was much bigger and so the tour was in German with audio guide highlights for us. That worked well. Then we had an hour’s break (time for a coffee at the nearby bakery) before joint the wine cellar tour (again in German but audio guides for English speakers) plus wine tasting at the end. Finally we visited the Treasury and the exhibition. A very enjoyable visit for only €18 (the combined ticket)!
Thank you for sharing such a lovely and detailed account of your visit! We're delighted to hear that you enjoyed the peaceful atmosphere, the variety of tours, and the flexibility of the audio guides. It’s wonderful that you were able to experience so many parts of the Abbey and felt it was great value. We truly appreciate your visit and hope to welcome you back to Klosterneuburg Abbey again soon! Warm regards, The Klosterneuburg Abbey Team
The place is fantastic. So much history, BUT make sure to take the tours. We took the Winecellar tour and the general tour and in between we had lunch in the restaurant.
Thank you for your wonderful feedback! We're delighted to hear you enjoyed the rich history of Klosterneuburg Abbey and that the tours – as well as your lunch break – made your visit even more memorable. We hope to welcome you back again soon! Warm regards, The Klosterneuburg Abbey Team
The short ride out of Vienna was well worth it to visit Klosterneuburg Abbey. We did a tour of the abbey in the morning which I highly recommend since you won’t have access to all of the rooms if you tour it on your own. And then in the afternoon, we toured the wine cellar which was a very cool experience! They’ve been making wine there for 900 years and it was awesome to see the old cellars.
Dear Donna, Thank you so much for your wonderful review! We’re delighted to hear that the short trip from Vienna was worth it and that you enjoyed both the guided tour of the abbey and the visit to our historic wine cellar. It’s always great to know that the 900 years of winemaking history we’re proud of made a lasting impression. We would be very happy to welcome you back to Klosterneuburg Abbey in the future! Warm regards, The Team of Klosterneuburg Abbey
On this day (Leopold holiday) there was no day ticket which I bought!!!!! Lt. Info Klosterneuburg so I would have to buy other tickets which cost only half Complaint to TripAdvisor was not possible until now.
Very large monumental complex, open only with Guide. We must therefore pay attention to the timetable. Romanesque, Gothic and Baroque. Our Guide was very kind.
Breathtakingly beautiful monastery with a special history. The tour of the living quarters was informative. The treasury interesting. The wine cellar totally worth it. We had arrived early by train from Vienna. By buying a day ticket you can really entertain a day. Even if you don't like museums. The wine cellar tour ends with a tasting and that is a beautiful end to the day.
Klosterneuberg Abbey is a fascinating day trip. Ingrid our guide was so informative and enthusiastic. She made the visit very memorable. Can highly recommend a visit.
A project of Emperor Karl VI inspired by the Escorial that was not fully realized. Another of the few places that respect the EU agreements on disabled access and that let you take pictures. German/English tours with free Spanish audio guide. Baroque rooms of the Emperor, museums, cloister, splendid altar of enamels and remains of ancient stained glass windows. Gran Iglesia. Impressive the unfinished room of the Atlanteans. Worth a visit.
Very well done tour of a very interesting abbey. Quality museum area. We joined a tour that was in German. Fortunately they provided English audiotapes. The guide was able to add details along the way beyond the audiotapes.
Excellent tour and a sensational guide who had an answer to every question (Mr. Zisser). It was a great refresher on the history of the Habsburgs, Babenbergs and the Imperial era.
