Aucune visite de Dubrovnik ne serait complète sans une balade autour de la principale attraction renommée de la ville : les spectaculaires murs de la ville. Construits au Xe siècle, ces énormes murs, hauts de six mètres et allant jusqu’à six mètres d’épaisseur, fournissent une solide défense contre les envahisseurs. Avec près de 2 kilomètres de long, ces murs de la ville offrent un endroit idéal pour une promenade décontractée et une vue imprenable de la vieille ville et de la scintillante Adriatique. Les autres éléments essentiels incluent ses deux tours, la tour Minčeta et la tour Bokar, ainsi que deux forts, le Fort Laurent et la forteresse Revelin. Il y a trois points d’accès aux murs : l’un se trouve près du monastère dominicain, l’autre près du musée maritime à Fort Saint-Jean et le dernier à la porte Pile.

Les murs de Dubrovnik (croate : Dubrovačke gradske zidine) sont une série de murs de défense en pierre qui entourent la ville de Dubrovnik dans le sud de la Croatie
Étant à l’origine un fort robuste à quatre côtés, c’est le point le plus important dans le système défensif face à la terre.
Le Fort Bokar est considéré comme l’un des plus beaux exemples d’architecture de fortification harmonieuse et fonctionnelle.
La forteresse Saint-Jean (croate : Sveti Ivan) est un bâtiment monumental complexe sur la côte sud-est du port de la vieille ville, qui contrôle et protège son entrée.
Le fort Lovrijenac, ou forteresse Saint Laurent, est une forteresse et le théâtre de l’extérieur du mur occidental de la ville de Dubrovnik en Croatie, à 37 mètres (121 pieds) au-dessus du niveau de la mer.

We went early to avoid crowds in the heat. The views we’re fantastic of the Adriatic and the old town.
If you visit Dubrovnik and you can handle the steps you have to take a walk on the city wall. It gives you great views to sea and unique views of the city and other near by buildings.
It may be a beautiful walk, but the cost of 40 euros per person is excessive. This wonderful city has now become a tourist trap.
If you’re a GOT fan, you definitely want to do this walk. Walking the city walls is a great way to take beautiful pictures and sight see while getting your steps in! Be ready for climbing stairs - there’s plenty of them. If you plan on walking the entire perimeter, it will take about 2-3 hours depending on how many stops you take for pics and take water with you! The month of May is a great time to go with less crowds and great weather. Lastly, do not throw away your tickets as there is a checkpoint midway through the walk.
This did not work. We needed to buy admission tickets to the city walls once we arrived. We used Tripadvisor for several other tours that worked well. By the way, this was supposed to be admission and self-guide only, not a guided tour. Hopefully will get a refund when I return home. The city walls walk was worth while.
Dubrovnik is a total tourist trap - and also a must see. The walls really are spectacular (even though they cost 40E). Can get crowded (and hot) so go early or late.
I had booked a guided tour with Viator for the city walls but it did not include the entrance fee, which I also booked through Viator. Viator only email me a voucher but not a QR code that is needed to gain entry. They were so unhelpful during the process and we ended up buying another set of tickets as we didn’t want to miss our tour. We kept going back and forth with the online customers service which was crap so we email our complaints. Less than a day later they refused us a refund and won’t give us a reason why. I won’t be booking another thing with them as they are not helpful if anything goes wrong. Be careful when dealing with this company Stop trying to put us off and deal with your customers properly
This sounds scary when 1000 steps are mentioned - but fear not - they come in smaller sessions :) The view from above is magic and for those taking it easy there are food/drink stations along the way.
Amazing views of ancient and present Dubrovnik! Definitely do it! Just make sure to go first thing in morning, before heat and crowds!
This specific booking requires you to print your ticket beforehand, but they only send it to you less than a day before. So, this seems to be an impossible ask for someone who had already arrived in country. A very unrealistic requirement in 2025 when scanning a phone is just as easy. It's easier and cheaper to book this at the gate
