Leonel is a experienced guide. We enjoyed the tour. The bikes are well maintained and the tour is almost flat. Highly reconmended.
Lionel was prompt and professional, and extremely knowledgeable about Portugal and biking. I would not hesitate to book with him again, and I would encourage anyone else to book the trip!
Highly recommend! Our experience was excellent. The bikes are in good shape, meeting spot and train ride back were super smooth, and the bike tour itself was beautiful. You end up biking along the coast and through a coastal forest area, making lots of stops along the way. Our guide was kind and knowledgeable, as well as flexible. One person in our party was newish to biking; our guide was understanding and helpful, making sure the ride was always manageable. You bike through parts of Portugal that tourists would never see otherwise. Some things to consider: - this is not a short bike ride. Make sure you are physically able to handle biking for 5 hours (at a slow speed on flat terrain) or else make sure you book the e-bike option - bring snacks and water! - the guides do not control the weather. Make sure you check ahead of time. We happened to book on the hottest day of the year. Our guide and his wife prepared extra stops and water for us, as well as some snacks, but it was still 5 hours biking in 95-105 degree weather. Be an adult and make sure you know what you’re getting yourself into. Overall, would do again!
Recommend doing the ride on a weekday, on weekends the bike trails can get busy. Also, best on a Monday when the Espinho open-air market is open. Our guide, Leonel, spoke great english. The e-bikes we rented were very good. We had plenty of battery life. After the ride finished at the Ovar train station, we were given train tickets to take us back to Sao Bento station in Porto. The ride along the coast was scenic, mostly flat and easy biking.
The tour was beautiful and the guide very friendly! We cycled across the sea and through nature, an exceptional experience.
This was a really cool tour that gave us the opportunity to see a bunch of towns along the at Atlantic coast. The pace of the tour was great. It's a family owned business too! We've taken a few e-bike tours in different countries and this one was the best. If you're a biker and don't know the area, take the tour with a regular bike as it's not too challenging. If you're not a biker, go with the e-bike, relax, and enjoy the views and the guide.
This bike tour was a highlight of my Portuguese experience. As we left Porto, there was a laundry building where women were washing clothes by hand on stones and hanging them on clothesline. We entered the ocean bike path where we saw miles and miles - maybe 20? - of pristine beaches, surfers, craggy rocks, and sheer beauty. We entered sand dunes and an enormous pine forest, emerging to ride through the streets of a fishing village. The guide was careful, accommodating, and an unwavering support for our group of 8 travelers. Highly recommend.
We had a wonderful time on our 48 km bike ride with our guide Leonel. We rode through a variety of locations, along the Douro river the Alantic ocean, through a board walk and bird sanctuary and a pine forest. I had the electric bike and was a very easy journey. My friend was on the standard bike and this required more effort and a certain level of bike fitness. There was time for toilet stops and a coffee. I would advise to carry some food snacks as no time to eat along the way. Lionel was happy to share about his life in Porto and answer any questions along the way. Very enjoyable tour and would recommend to anyone wanting to experience something unique of life outside Porto.
Excellent day. Time was 10am, but Leonel our Guide was there setting up the bikes at 9.30am. There was only myself and my friend on the ride. So was great, could stop and take photos when we liked. Leonel said min 2 people Max 8. I rode a hybrid bike and am reasonable fit and found the ride good, some small rises where we dropped the gears, but overall flat. My friend had an e-bike and found the ride easy. Great to get out of Porto and Gaia, travel on bike paths, board walks, a bit of road with traffic. Through villages, along the coast, past local beach sites and pine forest. 1 stop to have coffee and snack if you wantedfor 15-20 minutes. Good lication by the chapel on the beach for photos. 2 opportunities for toilet stops. Take your own snacks if you need to eat. Arrived st Ovar train station, Leonel arranged the tickets and explained how to get back to Porto. We stayed and had local food at a cafe near the station and had a walk around. Trains are hourly. Take about 40 minutes to get back to Sao Benton station. Leonel very friendly and informative, happy to answer all questions. Highly recommend. Long day but great to see outside the cities.
This cycling tour was a real highlight of my stay in Porto. Leono was a fantastic and knowledgeable guide. The bike paths along the Seaside were amazing and I loved our stop at the beautiful old chapel perched on the ocean front. It was a great way to see the sights beyond the city.
