Daniel went above and beyond in information, variety of tour and communication. I traveled from Jerusalem for the first time and it was my first time to Bethlehem. Daniel took me to all the spiritual, religious, and socio-geographically relevant sites. I would highly recommend, it's 110% worth it!
Daniel was super knowledgeable and the perfect host regarding all aspects of Bethlehem. I could ask any question, and I not only learned about the past, but the present as well. He was also super communicative in the booking and transport process. I would highly recommend this tour and guide!
This is one of the greatest tours I've ever taken. Experiencing the Sheppard's Field and chappel was amazing. Learning the historical and religious context from my tour guide, Daniel was amazing. Seeing the wall and graffiti art, especiallu the Banksy work, was unforgettable. It was beyond the words I can construct to express how moving it was, but I highly recommend the tour.
Thank you for your wonderful review! It was an honor to guide you and share the history, faith, and realities of Bethlehem with you. I’m truly glad the experience was meaningful. Your recommendation means a lot — you are always welcome back!
If you want a west bank experience catch the 231 bus from jeruselem and go on Danis tour. An excellent complement or alternative to the standard Bethlehem religious sites tours. See the west bank with a Palestinian. Go through the checkpoints, visit the separation wall, Banksy's work, refugee camp and maybe some west bank knafeh. Recommended
Dani was a wonderful guide. He is super knowledgeable about a lot of things and clearly explained the issues that Palestinians have been facing so I got a better understanding of the poor situation they are in. He provided me resources to check (YouTube , books) on my own as well. He is also very knowledgeable about history (Christian history, general biblical history even the old testament, etc) and explained many things to me in great detail. He knows great food and took me to some nice places to eat. We got into a bit of a situation while I was touring with him, and between my persistance as a foreign tourist, and his good nature and humor, we remedied it. I would 100% trust him as my guide again. Also his family is super nice and their hostel/guesthouse was great.
Thank you so much for your kind and thoughtful review! It was truly a pleasure to guide you and share not only the history and culture of this land, but also the stories and challenges that shape life here. I'm so glad you found our time together meaningful and informative, and that the resources I shared were helpful for you to explore further. I'm also happy to hear you enjoyed the local food and felt at home with my family at our guesthouse—it means a lot. And yes, even the unexpected situations can turn into memorable moments with a bit of humor and teamwork! You're always welcome back anytime—thank you again for your trust and support. Warm wishes, Dani
I took my trip (Bethlehem Alternative Tour) in May 2025. Dani provided a great tour and experience. I wasn’t that interested in only seeing the regular tourist attractions, so that is why I signed up for his tour. We went to the various places mentioned in his tour description, modified a little bit. He can customize the tour for you. The Walled Off Hotel is currently closed. So, you can’t go inside. He will also provide some history and context concerning the present situation in the Palestinian Territories, which is probably different than what you hear back home. So, it is good to learn something from that perspective. I took the 231 bus from Jerusalem, then needed to take a taxi to the House of Peace once I got to Palestine. Not quite certain why the bus only went to the border that day, but everything went fine. Don’t forget your passport and travel documents for the return trip to Israel. I highly recommend Dani’s tour and his style of guiding/teaching and his cheerful personality. Make sure to stop someplace for lunch and desserts!
Thank you so much for your detailed and thoughtful review! It was a real pleasure to guide you on the Bethlehem Alternative Tour. I'm glad you appreciated the more personal and customized approach—I always try to shape each experience to match the interests of my guests, and it's great to hear it resonated with you. Thank you also for highlighting the importance of learning about the situation here from a local perspective. I truly believe that understanding is built through dialogue and shared experiences. I'm happy everything went smoothly with your arrival, even with the unexpected bus change. And I’m glad you enjoyed the food and desserts—always an essential part of the tour! Your kind words and recommendation mean a lot, and you're welcome back anytime. Warm regards, Dani
Dani’s alternative tour in Bethlehem was one of the most impactful experiences of our time in the region. Through thoughtful storytelling and deep knowledge, Dani helped us understand the complex history of Palestine and offered meaningful insight into the daily lives of Palestinians. We visited a refugee camp, where we learned about the history of displacement since 1948 and how it continues to shape communities today. One of the most memorable moments was visiting a local family — a warm, welcoming encounter that brought the human side of the story to life. We also had the chance to support local artisans by purchasing beautiful handmade jewelry. If you truly want to gain a deeper understanding of Palestinian history, life in the West Bank, and the resilience of the people who live there, this tour is a must. Dani brings honesty, heart, and perspective to every step of the journey. I can’t recommend it enough.
Thank you so much for your incredibly kind and meaningful words. I'm truly honored that the tour was such an impactful part of your time in the region. It means a great deal to know that the stories, history, and people you encountered left a lasting impression. I believe deeply in the power of connection—whether through storytelling, shared meals, or meeting local families—and I’m grateful you approached the experience with such openness and empathy. Thank you as well for supporting local artisans; it’s small actions like these that truly make a difference. Your support and recommendation mean a lot, and you’re always welcome back to Bethlehem. With appreciation, Dani
I visited Bethlehem Palestine on 03/25. and booked the Bethlehem tour with Dani. Naturally, I was a bit apprehensive, but Bethlehem was very safe and everyone I met was very friendly. Dani is such a kind, genuine and funny person. His knowledge of Palestinian/ Israeli relations is expansive. I got to witness the problems Palestinians deal with, day to day, due to the occupation. On this tour, Dani showed me the real Palestine as well as lots of the historical landmarks, like the Church of the Nativity and The Chapel of the Shepherds Fields. We visited the Ayda Refugee Camp, which was an eye opening experience, as well as the Banksy Walled off Hotel and the separation barrier. I got to meet some of the Palestinian Locals and got to see things that most tourists do not get a chance to experience. This isn’t part of the tour, but Dani was so welcoming during my stay in Bethlehem, and was so generous with his time. While I was in Bethlehem, I stayed with Dani’s lovely family at the House of Peace Hostel. Dani even took me and another guest to a Palestinian Bakery, where we tried some delicious Knafeh. We later went to a Palestinian beer shop and tried some local Palestinian beers. Dani also lets you customise your tours. He also did a separate tour with me to Solomon’s Pools and Battir both in Bethlehem. Genuinely, if you are thinking of visiting Bethlehem I would recommend Dani 100%. I think this tour that Dani a Palestinian Christian gave me, is a lot more authentic than a general Bethlehem Tour. I learned so much and had an incredible time. On another note, that may be useful. Getting to Bethlehem was pretty easy to be honest. Coming from the UK I was worried that it would be hard to get to Bethlehem from Jerusalem. However, it’s quite easy to take the 231 bus from Damascus gate in Jerusalem. The bus ride is about £3. The bus runs from Damascus Gate bus terminal, all the way to Bethlehem, and the House of Peace Hostel where Dani picked me up from was a 10 minute walk away. Getting back to Jerusalem, Dani dropped me off at the bus stop and I used the same 231 bus back to Damascus gate. There is a checkpoint where Israeli forces check your passport before you can cross back into Israel, but there were no issues and the bus journey back was about 10 minutes longer.
The locations and tour guide’s (Daniel Aqleh) in-depth subject matter expertise was simply phenomenal! From highly accurate biblical theological background and knowledge, to the historical context and significance of the Christian/Arab/Palestinian/Muslim/Jewish/Israel experience in the Bethlehem and neighboring areas - Daniel’s presentation and execution of this tour was simply par-excellence in all ways. You simply could not acquire a better or more skilled tour guide than Daniel! I have participated in many tours over the years, but the bottom-line is that this was THE MOST extremely cost effective and memorable tour which I have ever been on and one that I truly hope to repeat in the future!!!
Thank you a lot. It’s been really a privilege for me to take you around in Bethlehem my hometown on Christmas Day. It was so much fun as well.
Dani is an excellent guide. Knowledgeable and friendly. The tour is very informative. Aida Camp will forever be in my memories. Next time, I hope to make it to the Banksy Hotel and museum... All in all, a wonderful experience...
Thanks a lot for coming to Bethlehem. I hope that would come back as well and enjoy more of the country
