Knowledgeable and pleasant tour guide who speaks both English and French fluently. My partner and I did a 4 hour tour and visited two different wineries. Good explanation of winemaking process to a novice. They also went out of their way to help me retrieve my phone which I accidentally left on the travel bus
We had an amazing time on this wine tour. Our guide Kim provided in-depth information on the region of the wine we were to experience. The view of the landscape along the way was stunning.
This was a great experience with two lovely visits to family run vineyards. We learned about making beaujolais and about growing grapes. The wines were tasty also! The group was five in total and that was perfect.
Wonderful tour of two Beaujolais vineyards. Great guide, lovely scenery and - not least - very good wines. Highly recommended!
A wonderful morning filled with great information great knowledge and great conversation. The vistas and the wine samples were superb, overall a great half day.
A Thoughtfully Guided Morning Through Beaujolais If you are visiting Lyon and debating whether a wine tour into Beaujolais is worth your time, this was easily one of the most worthwhile and memorable experiences of our trip to France. Our half-day morning tour with Rhone Trip struck a rare balance between cultural immersion, beautiful scenery, education, hospitality, and genuine human connection. Nothing about it felt commercialized or overly produced. Instead, it felt like being welcomed into the living rhythm of the Beaujolais countryside by people who truly care about the region they call home. We were picked up directly from Lyon city center and within about 45 minutes the entire atmosphere shifted. The city gave way to rolling vineyards, golden stone villages, winding hillside roads, and panoramic green landscapes that felt cinematic in every direction. It is remarkable how quickly you can leave the energy of Lyon behind and find yourself somewhere that feels timeless. Our guide, Eddy, was exceptional and genuinely made the experience what it was. Being from the region himself, he brought a depth of authenticity, humor, humility, and knowledge that transformed the morning from a wine tour into a real cultural experience. He made both wine and history feel approachable and engaging regardless of your experience level. One of the most impressive parts of the tour was how accessible Eddy made wine tasting feel. Instead of relying on pretentious terminology or intimidating explanations, he taught us how to think about wine through structure, balance, acidity, minerality, fruit, texture, and personal perception. You leave feeling more confident in your own palate rather than feeling like you need expertise to participate. At the same time, he naturally wove in the history of Beaujolais throughout the drive and vineyard visits. Discussions about geography, generational farming, trade, climate, and regional identity made the wines feel connected to something much larger than a tasting menu. It added depth to every stop without ever feeling overly academic. The two vineyard visits complemented each other beautifully. Our first stop was Domaine de Fond-Vieille in Oingt, where winemaker Dominique Guillard welcomed us into his family vineyard and cellar. The experience felt intimate, relaxed, and deeply rooted in local tradition. Mascot, the black and white vineyard dog, wandered through the cellar greeting visitors as if he were part of the hosting team himself. We then visited Domaine des Prévelières, run by brothers Quentin and Gaëtan Morel, where the focus shifted toward certified organic and biodynamic winemaking. Eddy did an excellent job explaining biodynamic farming in a way that felt thoughtful and grounded rather than trendy or performative. Walking through the vineyards while learning about the intentionality behind soil stewardship, ecosystem balance, and terroir expression gave us an entirely new appreciation for the work behind the wines. Somewhere among the hillsides, storm clouds, and vines, we also met a baby lamb grazing quietly beside the property, one of those simple travel moments that unexpectedly stays with you. What Rhone Trip does so well is create a communal and deeply human experience. You are not rushed through tastings or shuffled between tourist stops. There is time to ask questions, learn, wander, laugh, and genuinely absorb the rhythms of the region. For culturally curious travelers, food and wine lovers, photographers, couples, solo travelers, or anyone looking to experience a more authentic side of France beyond major tourist centers, this experience is exceptional. The wines were wonderful, but what continues to resonate with me most is the feeling of the morning itself. Welcoming. Grounded. Generous. Authentic. I would recommend Rhone Trip without hesitation to anyone visiting Lyon.
Outstanding day! I booked two half day experiences with Eddy for Beaujolais and Northern Rhône and it was fantastic. You can certainly do both if you only have one day. The wineries we visited were excellent and the tastings generous. Everyone was so welcoming. Eddy knows the region really well and gives great insight as you travel around. I highly recommend this trip and it’s an experience not to be missed!
An excellent experience! Very nice places we visited and our guide, Eddie was the best!
We really enjoyed this tour, Beaujolais is beautiful. Eddy is very knowledgeable, he was fun and engaging with the group. He took us to two small, family-owned wineries, and we got to taste some wonderful wines. Such a fun and educational day!
This was a great tour and introduction to the Beaujolais region. The half day tour was short but sweet, and the small group size made it a very friendly experience for all of us. Our guide Kim was bright and knowledgeable, as well as being a good driver. The wineries we visited were quaint and personal, and the wine was very good also. We appreciated being able to purchase some bottles directly from the producers. We highly recommend!
