We booked our Bay of Fundy shared tour with VGO through Viator. Our tour guide, Derick, met us at the entrance of our hotel. To our surprise, he informed us that our shared tour had been upgraded to a private tour at no additional cost, including complimentary hotel pick-up and drop-off. Derick, was extremely knowledgeable, courteous, and fluent in English. He made our experience truly memorable. We would recommend VGO Tours and especially Derick for anyone visiting Saint John and the Bay of Fundy area.
We could not find the tour at the dock. Nowhere did it indicate Viatour. The guide was holding a sign saying FGU. Finally he started looking for us and we embarked late. The guide spoke very broken English and was hard to understand. He had no enthusiasm and did not enlighten us with history of the area. He was unaware of what time we needed to be back to this ship so we were very rushed on our return. The windows of the bus were not clean. Worst excursion I have ever taken.
Dear Patricia, Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We are genuinely sorry that your experience did not meet your expectations. We would like to clarify a few points for future travelers. Your reservation was for the Bay of Fundy Shared Tour Adventure, which is operated by VGO Tour and booked through the Viator marketplace. Viator is the booking platform, while VGO Tour is the local tour operator. Our guide was stationed outside the cruise terminal at the designated meeting location, wearing a VGO Tour uniform, displaying a VGO Tour ID badge, and holding a clearly marked VGO Tour sign. The rest of the guests on the tour located the meeting point without difficulty. Regarding your comments about the guide, Mr. Derick is one of our experienced and highly rated guides, having received numerous 5-star reviews across multiple travel platforms. We recognize that communication styles and accents can be perceived differently by different guests, but he is trained in hospitality and tourism and strives to provide informative and professional service on every tour. Concerning the timing of the excursion, our schedules are coordinated with the official cruise information provided by the Saint John Port Authority. On the day of your visit, your ship’s departure time had been adjusted, and the tour departed at approximately 9:00 a.m. and returned around 2:30 p.m., about one hour before the scheduled 3:30 p.m. sailing time. Our goal is always to return guests with a comfortable margin before their ship departs. With respect to the vehicle, all of our tour vehicles are cleaned and sanitized before each departure. While road dust can occasionally accumulate on exterior windows during travel, we regret if this affected your enjoyment of the scenery. Had this been brought to our attention during the tour, we would have done our best to address it. We value every guest’s feedback, whether positive or critical, as it helps us continue improving our services. While we respectfully disagree with some aspects of your review based on our operational records and the feedback received from other guests on the same tour, we are sorry that your experience did not reflect the standard of service we strive to provide. We wish you safe and enjoyable travels in the future. VGO Tour Management Team Jul 13, 2026 Mary_L Great small group tour but not private Viator review: Bay of Fundy Shared Tour Adventure Derrick was very knowledgeable about the area and the sights we were seeing. My husband and I along with our two young adult daughters very much enjoyed this outing. With that being said, it was a little difficult locating Derrick as his identifying logo was the name of his business (VGO) and not the name of the tour as it was listed on Viator. Also, it was a very comfortable shuttle bus with 24 seats and not the private tour I thought I signed up for. I guess that is why it was called a “shared tour” but small group tour would have been more accurate.

We had an absolutely wonderful tour with VGO around Saint John and the Bay of Fundy, Canada. Our guides and drivers, Mo and Fatima were marvelous: very friendly, professional, immensely helpful, patient and informative. This was one of the very best tours we have ever been on through all our travels. We highly recommend VGO to everyone traveling in this area.

Our full-day tour of the Bay of Fundy, St. John City, and the sea caves with Derick was absolutely incredible from start to finish! Derick is a fantastic tour guide who made our experience truly unforgettable. * Perfectly Paced Stops: The itinerary features a massive variety of stops throughout the day. * Never Rushed: We had plenty of time at each location to soak in the views and take gorgeous pictures. * The Full Tidal Experience: We were lucky enough to see both high and low tides, which is a must-do in this region. * Fascinating Physics: Derick is incredibly knowledgeable and gave us a mind-blowing explanation of the physics behind these massive tides. * Wildlife and Wonders: We got to spot seals and witness the stunning phenomenon of the Reversing Falls Rapids—just wow! * Perfect Ending: We wrapped up our perfect day enjoying delicious food and refreshing drinks right by the beautiful sea caves. If you want an educational, fun, and seamless tour of St. John and the Bay of Fundy, book with Derick. You won't regret it! Also you can book this as just 2 people no problem. You get a small van shared with a few others. So fun!
We learned many things about the area that we would have passed by. It was a very relaxed pace. Derrick gave us great directions on our continuing trip to Halifax. I strongly recommend the more personalized tour.
Wow!!!! What an amazing tour!! Firstly, I contacted VGO to confirm time of pick up at my hotel. I was advised that it would be at 9.00 am, for meet up with the rest of the tour. However, the tour bus was full and I was offered instead, get this, a private tour, at no extra cost!!! I couldn't believe my ears!. I was a bit leery at first, but on June 29, I was picked up in front my hotel, on time, by Yasir. This was the name of the person who took me on the tour. It was so much more than what the bus tour had offered. Yasir drove me to all the historic sites, and took his time telling me the history. I could see that he loved what he was doing and his heart was into it. I appreciated this as I myself was very much intrigued by the history. I felt comfortable chatting with him, and was quite appreciative of the fact that he took me to the lighthouse (which is not included in the bus tour), which at first I couldn't see because of the fog, but there it was perched way above the ocean......what a view! The private tour took perhaps 2-3 hours and I was quite happy that I did it. I truly and favourably recommend that you book with VGO TOUR (and especially with Yasir as your guide). He is certainly really good at his job and you will have no regrets!!!!!
Enjoyed this tour of the City of Saint John and Saint Martin's Sea Cave. I booked a group tour and ended up by myself in a private tour. My tour guide, Khusro, was friendly, knowledgeable and accommodating, providing lots of info, answering questions, taking pics. I had a great day, thanks again.
