Khadakwasla Dam is a dam on the Mutha River, located about 20 km from Pune, that serves as a crucial water source for the city and its suburbs. Constructed between 1961 and 1969, it is now a popular picnic spot known for the surrounding lake, scenic views, and nearby attractions like the National Defence Academy and Sinhagad Fort. The dam is a popular destination for picnics, boating, and enjoying food and snacks, though parking can be challenging.
We thoroughly enjoyed this tour, and especially learning so much about Hinduism, the history of the forts around Pune, and learning about the culture. The lunch was very filling and delicious, especially the masala chai! Since the other dam was dried up, we only visited one of the dams, and they took us to a museum instead, which I think I preferred. It was fascinating and such a unique setup, I've never been to a museum quite like it. The dam we did go to was not so much about the views, but more a place to relax in the shade and drink fresh sugarcane juice. Sachinn was a great tour guide and we thoroughly enjoyed all the stories.
Had an excellent tour - I happily recommend it! My guide was Gaurav, who is very sympathetic and experienced. I much appreciated how flexible and communicative the organization was (I had to rebook the tour time twice). Gaurav also recommended me many other things to do around Pune, so that was a big help! If ever I'm back in the neighborhood, I'll ping them again.
Excellent tour with Sanket! If you’re looking for a personable, friendly, and localized tour, CityZest is the place to go. Sanket did an excellent job of giving history and background of the city and landmarks, selecting and modifying the activities to fit the group, and sharing his love of the city and state. We started with chai from a local cafe, next stopped at a dam, then headed to the fort. Sanket extended the fort time to do more hiking (my request) and also stopped to try some of the local snack food. After the fort, we stopped for a a local lunch. It was delicious and a great atmosphere. Lastly, we drove to Panshet Dam. The drive was beautiful to see Pune countryside and farming. We also rode on a boat at the dam (additional opportunity), which was quite fun. Krishna, the driver, did an excellent job of driving smoothly and safely. I had an absolute blast and found a new appreciation and perspective of Pune. I highly recommend Sanket and CityZest for all of your Pune tours!
Enjoyed the Sinhagad Fort hike and the dams, the guide was a good storyteller and the driver drove us smoothly between places
The tour was very well organized. Stops for tea, visits, lunch were well planned. I really appreciated Sanket's explanations on the city of Pune and on all the three sites that we visited, especially the history about Sinhagad Fort. Although we did have fresh air and beautiful views at the two dams, I was quite disappointed by the dams because there was not much to see. Overall, I did enjoy the whole day of visit and highly recommend this tour.
While visiting India, I did a number of tours, and this one was by far the best mainly because the tour guide was superb. He was personable, informative, and attentive. Sanket ensured I had a great time. He was knowledgeable in the history, which I loved and seemed to truly enjoy telling me all about it. When so many other tours seemed to be trying to sell you more stuff, Sanket seemed to only care about providing history and ensuring his guest had a great time. 10/10 would go with him again!
The tour was booked by me online for the Independence Day weekend after seeing the itinerary. This is a private car tour with guide. The pick up was from our hotel itself. The Innova car was neatly maintained. The Sinhagad tour was excellent and the organiser was the guide too. I was concerned that the dams were not accessible due to heavy rains But the organiser reassured that all was ok. The dams were filled to the brim but accessible. We even did boating in Panshet dam. The local lunch provided was nice. The tour was worth the money and time spent thanks to the organisers.
The tour was amazing as we saw the 2 huge dams .the historic background of Sinhagad fort was filled with amazing stories.
