Le pont sur la rivière Kwai, que beaucoup de gens connaissent du film du même nom de 1957 ou du livre de Pierre Boulle, fait partie du tristement célèbre chemin de fer de la Mort, construit pendant la Seconde Guerre mondiale de 1942 à 1943. Le chemin de fer reliait Kanchanaburi, dans l'ouest de la Thaïlande, à Rangoon, au Myanmar, qui s'appelait alors la Birmanie, et mesurait environ 415 kilomètres. Aux deux bouts, la construction commença en juin 1942 en travaillant l'un vers l'autre. En octobre 1943, les deux parties se rencontrèrent pour achever le chemin de fer.
La rivière Khwae Yai, également connue sous le nom de Si Sawat, est une rivière de l'ouest de la Thaïlande. Elle prend sa source dans les collines de Tenasserim et coule sur environ 380 km dans les districts de Sangkhla Buri, Si Sawat et Mueang, dans la province de Kanchanaburi, où elle fusionne avec la Khwae Noi pour former la rivière Mae Klong à Pak Phraek.
Le cimetière de guerre de Kanchanaburi est le principal cimetière de prisonniers de guerre accueillant les victimes de l'emprisonnement japonais lors de la construction du chemin de fer birman. C'est sur la route principale, la route de Saeng Chuto, à travers la ville de Kanchanaburi, en Thaïlande, adjacente à un ancien cimetière chinois.
Ce petit musée, ouvert en 1977, est principalement consacré aux terribles épreuves des prisonniers de guerre qui ont construit le chemin de fer de la mort. Leurs conditions de vie difficiles sont illustrées par de nombreuses photos originales, lettres et dessins de cette époque, ainsi que par des effets personnels et des vestiges de guerre, notamment une bombe alliée non explosée larguée pour détruire le pont. L'une des trois galeries est construite en bambou dans le style des abris (appelés attap) dans lesquels vivaient les prisonniers de guerre.

Les voyageurs seuls peuvent réserver la visite partagée de ce produit, mais sous réserve de disponibilité et d'annulation si le nombre minimum de personnes n'est pas atteint le jour de l'activité. (Une autre date ou un remboursement sera offert si cela se produit.).
- Si vous avez des problèmes de mobilité, vous pourriez avoir des difficultés à monter ou à descendre du hors-bord à longue queue. Veuillez en informer votre guide au début de la visite. Votre guide s'arrangera pour que le chauffeur vous conduise au pont par la route.

Brilliant, the tour guide 00M was brilliant and driver was excellent, trip is a long one from Bangkok but well worth it, don’t know where to start with explaining everything so people just do it it’s worth the money and this tour company where brilliant from contact to pick ups and drop offs, my only thing I would mention is the museum could do with some tidying up, displays where dirty and the film was good but could do with better speakers but that’s not down to the tour company but perhaps they could pass it on, by the way if your on the train journey sit on the right if you have your back to the engine or left if your facing it lol, you get the best view. Well done tour company your where brilliant, Special mention to the Aussie and Canadian ex pats m, it was brilliant to meet you .

This was one of the best tours I have ever been on! Oom our guide, spelled out exactly what we were going to do the entire day. It was very clear and concise, so there were no surprises. The museum was very moving, the boat ride was fast and fun! The train ride and the walk over the river was amazing. And lunch was fantastic, great view!

Informative, varied and interesting excursion and very thought provoking due to the nature of the visit. It was a long drive but very glad we went. I would have preferred a slightly later pick up time to enable us to have breakfast in the hotel rather than a stop at a coffee shop 20 minutes in to tne journey!

We didn't know what to expect but it turned out to be the highlight of Bangkok. The tour was extremely interesting, the guide was very informative and knowledgeable, and the pace of the tour was good. Lunch was delicious too.

I joined this tour at the end of February and had a very good experience. It was a well-organized, full-day trip to the River Kwai and the surrounding area. Everything ran smoothly, and our guide, “00M,” was professional and knowledgeable, sharing the historical details clearly and accurately. We made the tour of the bridge being in the “village” but privately. A beautiful building that deserves the excursion below the prison camp unfortunately left completely abandoned
