Our guide Jose was great to the whole Family and ensured we had a good day despite the river rising and tubing canceled. We found alternative tours and he guided us every step of the day.
The tour with Jeff as our guide was wonderful! He gave us a lot of interesting information regarding Belize and its history. He took us cave tubing and to Altun Ha. We walked about 30 minutes to get to the cave opening. It was an easy walk but you did need to watch your step due to tree roots and small rocks. Jeff took his time so we could take it all in, so it was a very relaxing float throughout the cave and we were able to take lots of pictures. The tour of the ruins is fairly short as it’s not a place where a lot of time is needed. All in all, a great experience!
We booked the Altun Ha Mayan Ruin & Cave Tubing adventure, as well as added on the Belize Zoo. Jose planned the trip perfectly to avoid a crowd at either place. His associate, Abel, led us on the cave tubing, starting with a walk through the Mayan jungle explaining various plants and trees and their many uses. It was interesting to hear about the history and forest secrets. The cave tubing portion was very fun as well with a ton of history and waterfall inside the cave. This was a great start to the day. From there Jose guided us on the zoo tour, where we saw so many local animals. Jose was very knowledge about the animals and cared very much about the zoo. Our last stop was the Mayan ruins which was an amazing piece of history to see. Structures hundreds of years old, still standing. Jose was very knowledgeable about Belize and all aspects of the tour - he’s a great guide!
This was great because we got to do two excursions at once. Through the cruise line it was either cave tubing or Mayan ruins. But this group made sure we got to do both. I was worried about missing the ship at the end of the day, but they were in constant contact with each other making sure we got back to the port on time. Jose called me before to make sure my concerns were addressed. He gave me a hug at the terminal. It felt like we were friends. Jeff was our driver. The potholes were the most adventurous part of the excursion. Jeff knew where they were and we missed every single one of them. What a challenge. Several in my group had to cancel, so I went by myself and Jeff made sure I was comfortable. I made new friends. Thanks Crew. Great time.
Amazing adventure Jose was great! Would recommend to anyone. Jose was very accommodating and a wealth of information.
Our tour guide scammed us. We had some down time between two of the excursions (Altun Ha Maya Ruin and Cave Tubing Adventure) so he recommended to show me and my family the Belize zoo. He was very friendly, hospitable and knowledgeable about the culture. At the end of the day when he dropped us off at the airport we gave him a VERY handsome tip. Then he said we still owed him for the zoo. We asked how much was the cost (the tip was so 'handsome' we thought that would cover the costs) and he told us it was $60 each and $50 for my 10-year son. But he dismissed the fee for my son. We thought that was odd and yet still very expensive for a zoo tour but we didn't argue and so we paid him $180 for the 3 adults. The next day while in San Pedro, Belize we decided to look up the entry cost for the Belize Zoo and turns out it was only $20 per adult and $10 for children. We called him and he denied any wrong doing. We then contacted Viator to resolve this issue but they simply dug in and sided with the tour guide. We will NEVER schedule another excursion with Viator (and we travel a lot).
Tarique was fantastic! We had a tight timeline as our cruise ship shortened our time in port. He made sure we got to both locations and back to our ship on time. Tarique was very knowledgeable and shared the area, history and local plants and animals we encountered along the way. We really enjoyed our tour!
Cruise port 2-person private tour. Couldn’t ask for a better driver/tubing guide/ historian than Abel! Great walk in the rainforest to the river/ cave system. Incredible tubing in the caves!!! Delicious local lunch, and then off to see the Mayan temple sites. Several local markets along to way to get souvenirs. Abel made sure we got back in plenty of time for cruise departure. All entrance fees and lunch included. Booked directly with Jose Tours Belize. Easy to communicate with ahead of time. Private tour is the way to go to avoid the crowds! Ask for Abel!!!
We had an excellent tour! We were visiting as part of the cruise ship and got back in plenty of time to catch the tender boat back. Our guide, Charles was very knowledgeable and shared tons of captivating insight about Belize from prehistoric times to modern days. We loved the cave tubing, it was both fun and incredible experience! The private tour allowed us to get everywhere efficiently and without the crowds. We were also able to rent water shoes and phone water-protective case at the site. We had a nice walk through the rainforest, as Charles pointed out different plants and wildlife. The tubes were waiting for us near the cave entrance, so we did not have to carry them much. Charles did all the navigation in the cave, explaining different shapes and other details. We really enjoyed the cave and river tubing, it was truly amazing! The lunch after was much welcomed and delicious!! Altun Ha Mayan Ruin was very interesting and we got to climb the tallest. We were there without the crowds and the place felt magical! This was by far one of the best experiences we’ve had in our many travels! We would highly recommend this tour and Charles as the guide!!
What a great day! Jose took fantastic care of our day! The tubing is great, definitely bring water shoes and be prepared to walk a pretty good distance carrying a tube. It’s worth it though!
