Aventure de kayak bioluminescent de nuit de baie à Porto Rico

Description

This was our first time kayaking in Puerto Rico. It was so much fun my whole Family loved it and the guides were very knowledgeable about Puerto Rico‘s history.
I went for the 6:30 tour. It wasn't fully dark when we got to the lagoon as there was some light pollution and daylight left but on the way back it was pitch black. It's an adventure that will forever live with me and I'm thankful the experience was offered.
Thank you so much for sharing your experience! We're delighted to hear that your adventure left such a lasting impression. One of the unique aspects of our 6:30 PM tour is experiencing the transition from sunset into darkness, allowing guests to enjoy the beauty of the mangrove ecosystem before returning under the night sky. It means a great deal to know this is an experience you'll always remember. Thank you for choosing to kayak with us, and we hope to welcome you back for another unforgettable adventure whenever you're in Puerto Rico! Néstor
Great experience! Lots of fun kayaking. Highly recommend even though the bioluminescent organisms were covered by the seaweed.
Thank you so much for your review, Daisy! We're thrilled to hear you had a great time kayaking with us and that you enjoyed the adventure. It means a lot to know you had a fun experience, and we truly appreciate your recommendation. Thank you for choosing to join us. We hope to welcome you back for another unforgettable adventure the next time you're in Puerto Rico! Néstor
Tour was cancelled by the host. We drove all the way across the island and was notified 3 hours before start time that it was canceled. We have yet to see our money back either
Thank you for your feedback. We would like to clarify a few details regarding your reservation. Due to the extremely low bioluminescence conditions that evening, we contacted all guests well in advance to explain the situation and provide options so they could make an informed decision. Our records show that we sent you a message through the Viator platform at 12:18 PM, along with text messages and multiple phone call attempts. We offered three options to every guest: move to our 6:30 PM Sunset & Mangrove Adventure at a discounted rate, reschedule for another date, or cancel for a full refund. According to our records, you contacted us at approximately 4:00 PM and chose to cancel your reservation at that time. Regarding your refund, because your reservation was made through Viator/Tripadvisor, refunds are processed by their platform and may take several business days to appear, depending on your payment method. If you have not yet received it, Viator's customer service will be able to provide an update on its status. We appreciate your understanding, as our priority is always to communicate natural conditions honestly and give our guests the information they need to make the decision that is best for them. Néstor
I like the kayaking experience but we did not see any bioluminescent in the water. If they give you an option to cancel just do it. They give you a 25% off if you still go but you won’t see any light.
My husband and I attended the Bio Bay in June. The crew was great and provided lots of info on what to expect and when we were out on the water they gave lots of good info about the area and what causes the luminous. There were four tour guides, Victor, Jesus and there were two other guys, sorry I forgot your names, but you all did a great job. The bays are not what they used to be, which is a bit sad 😢. You used to stir the water and it lit up instantly, now it’s more like seeing lightning bugs in the water. It’s still a neat experience but not the full on water lighting up experience you might be expecting. No fault of course to the crew. To get to your kayak you walk through the water, I would suggest bathing suit bottoms and water shoes. That’s what we did and it was nice to have dry clothes to put on after the excursion. My suggestion to the crew is to take the group out in sections (like a group of four to one guide, wait a minute and then start the next group), we did a lot of running into each other as we made our way down the canal. I’d also suggest having the new kayakers go last. Just a little feedback to make the process easier. My husband and I are athletic so we really enjoyed the physical part of this excursion.
Thank you so much, Jennifer, for your wonderful review and for sharing your experience! We're so happy you and your husband enjoyed the tour and that our guides, especially Victor and Jesus, helped make it a memorable evening. We'll be sure to share your kind words with the entire team. We also appreciate your helpful suggestions. Guest feedback like yours helps us continue improving the experience for everyone. Thank you for choosing Island Kayaking Adventure. We hope to see you again on your next visit to Puerto Rico! Néstor
There were way too many people on this tour. We had trouble hearing the guides and it was very chaotic kayaking with such a big group. Also - it is very misleading to say that this is a bioluminescent tour. You see very little bioluminescence.
Dear Sheila, Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We're sorry to hear that your experience did not meet your expectations. Our tours are conducted in groups so that our guides can provide assistance and ensure everyone's safety while navigating the mangrove channel and lagoon. We understand that larger groups are not everyone's preference, and we're sorry if you found the experience more crowded than expected. Regarding the bioluminescence, we understand your disappointment. The brightness of the glow is a completely natural phenomenon that changes from night to night due to environmental factors such as rainfall, tides, water conditions, sediment, and moonlight. Because of this, no operator can guarantee a certain level of visibility on any given evening. We strive to communicate this in our tour description and pre tour information so guests know that conditions are determined by nature. We appreciate your comments about hearing the guides as well. We will share your feedback with our team as we continue looking for ways to improve communication during our tours. Thank you again for your honest feedback, and we wish you the very best in your future travels. Néstor
Guides were great and very knowledgeable. Seeing the bioluminescence was a really cool experience. Would definitely recommend.
Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. We're so glad you enjoyed the tour and that our guides helped make the experience both fun and informative. Seeing the bioluminescence is truly something special, and we're happy you had the opportunity to experience it. We also appreciate your recommendation and your 4-star review. We hope to welcome you for another adventure the next time you're in Puerto Rico! Néstor
The guides were excellent. 100% recommendable. They were always attentive to all of us, ensuring that we enjoyed the excursion.
Operator: basic instructions for check-in, nothing for parking. Asked to be there 30-minutes before, which wasn’t necessary. The previous tour was running late, which was obvious, but not communicated. We were handed wet life jackets and told to line up for a safety briefing. Oh, they do provide bug spray, which is absolutely essential. Advise: it’s not worth the time, effort or money. You enter the water to wade out to the kayaks, about waist deep, not mentioned. The paddle out isn’t bad, but after 15 minutes in the lagoon is a paddle back, against the current, not mentioned. We couldn’t see much of anything, barely more when you’re under a giant tarp which smelled awful and was hot. We lasted a few minutes under. No one mentioned the terrible smell of the water either. Our whole car stunk on the drive back. Bring more than just a towel. Bring a change of clothes and a trash bag for your clothes. That’s it. It was highly disappointing.
Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We are sorry to hear that the experience did not meet your expectations. Our tour takes place in a natural environment where conditions can vary from night to night. While we strive to provide clear information before arrival, we understand that some aspects of the experience may have felt different than what you anticipated. The check in period is scheduled 30 minutes before departure to allow time for parking, waiver verification, equipment distribution, safety instructions, and group organization. During busy evenings, occasional delays may occur as guides ensure the safe return and transition of previous groups. As described in our tour information, guests should expect to get wet during the excursion. Water levels at the launch area can vary depending on tides and conditions, and participants enter the water to board their kayaks. The paddling portion is an essential part of the adventure, as it is the only way to access the bioluminescent lagoon. Current and wind conditions are natural factors that can make some evenings easier or more challenging than others, but our guides are always available to assist anyone who needs help along the route. Regarding the tarp demonstration, its use is disclosed in the tour description provided at the time of booking. As explained, guides may use a tarp to help block surrounding light and enhance visibility of the bioluminescence when natural conditions require it. Participation is completely voluntary, and guests may choose whether or not to take part. The odor you experienced was most likely related to naturally occurring sargassum seaweed that periodically reaches our coastline. Although we make every effort to keep the area around our operation clean, sargassum is a natural phenomenon throughout the Caribbean, and when it decomposes, it can produce a strong odor that is beyond our control. We appreciate your comments, as they help us continue improving communication and the overall guest experience. We wish you the very best and thank you for giving us the opportunity to host your visit. Néstor
