It was an amazing time in the Amazon rainforest. We had lots of fun with our highly knowledgeable guide, Christian. The animals and plants we got to see were incredible, the accommodation was great, and we were very well looked after by the staff. This was my personal highlight of our trip to Peru.
Bugs, no electricity, cold water showers and we had the best time of our life!! Everyone was wonderful! The dining staff was so eager to please and the food was different for every day and meal and totally delicious. You couldn’t go hungry there! The room was perfect with the sounds of the jungle and the hammocks to rest on, on the porch! Fresh water and towels everyday. But the absolute best was our guide, Edgar. He could not have been more accommodating for our group of ten family members. When we were late getting there our first day, we told him we wanted to do EVERYTHING! And he managed to work everything in, along with two kayaking trips, two fishing for pirrhana trips. No one could have worked harder to please us. His knowledge of all things, Amazon, was beyond belief! From our sunset boat tour, to our daytime and night time boat excursions, daytime and night time hikes in the jungle, spotting pink dolphins and swimming in the Amazon River! And a medicinal plant hike. I could never name the number of animals and birds we saw, from three toed sloths to four different kinds of monkeys, including the American Pygmy marmoset, anaconda, two kinds of boas, lizards galore, tarantulas, which we held, scorpions, pirrhannas and too many birds to mention! And Edgar was so helpful to me who has some mobility issues and eyesight difficulties. He made sure I saw everything and even took photos and videos for me! I can’t thank you enough, Edgar and all the staff and Muyana Lodge itself for this experience I will NEVER forget
The Muyuna team has the total program fine tuned after 25+ years of pioneering experience! It’s indeed a great way to experience, appreciate, and relish the blessings of Mother Nature and the local communities that are helping Manitoba and nurture it! Santiago and the Muyuna team take care of you as a family member at their wonderful lodge, where you have the privacy at your bungalows while enjoying excellent food prepared fresh, and unending supplies of fresh fruit, hot drinks, and snacks at the main lodge. The day/night activities are well planned and guided to help you enjoy all the nuances of the amazing river and the jungle. Our personal guide, Roger, was not only an experienced jungle guide but also was fluent in English and with great sense of humor. The meals were arranged in such a way to allow mingling with other guests and build the collective camaraderie. Bravo and heartfelt thanks to team Muyuna for making a lifelong memory for us! On second thoughts, we would go for the longer stay next time as it finished too soon. Needless to say, please follow all guidance provided by Muyuna for trip planning; especially light clothing that covers fully, Sun screen, and strong bug repellents (they also sell there at reasonable price if you forget). We additionally used pre-treated inspect repellent clothing, and happy to say that we did not have a single bug bite … totally exceeded our expectations! A must do life experience…. And strongly recommend doing it at and with the Muyuna team!
All staff were professional, kind and helpful. Francisco, our guide, was incredible. He could spot the tinyest and most well-hidden of creatures in the jungle. We had a wonderful trip and felt very safe the entire trip.
We did 2 nights, 3 days Amazon experience at Muyuna lodge. This includes airport pick up, stopping at their office in Iquitos, choosing the gum boots and speed boat transport to the lodge. Since our plane was running late, they even made sandwiches for us and fed us during the boat ride. You have to bring a smaller bag and leave the rest of your luggage in their office as the water level is low in dry season and the boat shouldn't be loaded with heavy suitcases. The ride takes 3 hours. The lodge is amazing. The rooms are very spacious and protected with netting. All the meals were very tasty and we had different dishes every day. The excursions were fantastic, some on land, some by boat. Our guide Alain was very knowlegable about the plants and animals of the rainforest. He was able to spot them even in the dark! It was an amazing experience.
