It was nice hike up to some view points to see the volcano. Note, it is unusual to see to the full volcano as the top normally has fog/clouds around it. This is what happened for our hike. The guide was informative, and we saw some wildlife as well. We enjoyed the waterfall much more. It's very beautiful, and there was time baked into the tour to jump in the water. Note, it's a bit of a hike down (500 steps) to the waterfall.
We did the mini tour of hanging bridges and waterfall with lunch to follow. It was beautiful. The hike for the hanging bridges was nice for those who don't mind a bit of walking with minor inclines on cement. The views were lovely and David our tour guide had eagle eyes and pointed out all sorts of snakes, bugs, bats, flowers and monkeys. We'd have never noticed if he didn't stop to show us. He also used his scope to take some amazing photos for us. Next stop for us was the la fortuna waterfall. It would have been nice to have a little more time here as we had a nine year old and 3 teens who were enjoying the water. BE AWARE...the stairs to the bottom of the falls are no joke!!!! Only one way down and one way back up. 500 steps in total and it was tough! David was extremely patient and followed behind to make sure we all made it. He was very encouraging and didn't mind that we took many breaks along the way. I'm not sure what was worse, the shortness of breath or the fatigue of the muscles in my legs ( I will also point out, that we are not completely out of shape either, it was extreme). Lunch followed at an outdoor restaurant. Many choices to pick from and everyone seemed to enjoy it. Others in the group were going on to tour the volcano. My group of 8 was happy our day came to an end around 3...we were exhausted and I think everyone had had enough sightseeing and walking for the day. They also made an unplanned pitstop on the side of the road for us to take photos of a sloth in the trees! Pickup was at our Airbnb at 745. They were a few minutes early which was fine. They provided towels which was nice not to have to worry about. We were able to keep things we didn't need on the bus without worry which was also really nice. All in all, we loved our tour! David, Samuel and audiel were wonderful. We felt safe and well taken care of. Would VERY HIGHLY RECOMMEND water shoes for the waterfall (very rocky and slippery) bring a small lightweight backpack to carry a poncho and water bottle for the hike.
This was really fun! Walking on the hanging bridges, such a beautiful walk. Our guide was friendly and knowledgeable. We chose the waterfall and lunch option and enjoyed the day. It was a great way to see these popular spots.
My husband and I enjoyed this experience. A tour guides are very knowledgeable and professional. We were lucky to see lots of wildlife on the day. We went on the hanging bridges tour. I will say it was a lot of walking and steps for us, we are 60. It was all worth it. The lunch at the end was from a local business and was a very nice touch at the end of the tours.
Wet and wonderful! Just did the safari float down a river and our guide pointed out lots of wildlife, including crocodiles, a caiman and many birds. Very safe and only your feet get wet. Wish id brought my camera. The corn tortillas snack and lecture on chocolate after were an added unexpected bonus. But pick up and drop off take up to an hour.
My large family (9 people, 5 boys aged 14-24, and my 85 year old mom) went to the coffee tour and La Fortuna waterfall. We were mostly interested in the waterfall, but chose the combo with the coffee plantation so that my mom would be able to participate in half of the tour. My expectations were low for the coffee but it was one of the best surprised of our whole trip. Our guide Sergio was fantastic. This tour option is about a lot more than just coffee. Sergio taught us about the growing of all kinds of tropical produce including vanilla, peppercorn, and of course cocoa. He led us in our own coffee brewing and chocolate making at the end. It was a great experience. The La Fortuna waterfall was simply spectacular. I can't imagine visiting La Fortuna area without seeing it. Our driver walked us down the 514 steps to the base of the falls where most of my family went swimming. Needless to say, my 85 year old mom did not make this part of the trip. There is a restaurant at the trailhead where she was well cared for by the wait staff. I'm 52 and it was definitely a lot of work climbing back out - but well worth it. Lunch at the end was very satisfying - quality was great and portions were generous.
Great experience with Canoa! Our guide Jason was amazing for both Hanging Bridges and La Fortuna Waterfall. We highly recommend it!
Just great guiding and support and lively 5* and nice lunch after doing 500 steps back up from the waterfalls we were picked up dropped off and seamless from sloth 🦥 to snake 🐍
The communication with Canoa was fantastic! They sent a reminder/confirmation email and let us know where to meet and what to wear. The safari float was so fun and peaceful, and even when it rained crocodiles and turtles. We saw iguanas, Jesus Christ lizards, howler monkeys. a turtle, and multiple crocodiles! Our guide was full of interesting facts about La Fortuna! The snack was well done, and I loved the fried plantains and tortillas. The chocolate demonstration was fun. We also appreciated our guide taking us to La Fortuna Waterfall, telling us about it, and taking pictures of us. The service was amazing! Lunch was also excellent. Our kids loved the pasta bolognese, and the pizzas looked delicious! Thank you for a great day!
Chino was an excellent guide. We walked through the rainforest stopping to see different birds, insects, and animals. The bridges were thrilling. The La Fortuna waterfall was breathtaking! And the lunch from the local restaurant was a delicious treat.
