We had an amazing day with Felix from Oaxaca Conmigo Tours visiting local businesses and markets to sample Oaxacan cuisine, experience local life, and see how their Zapotecan rugs are produced from start to finish. Each stop on this tour was carefully chosen to avoid tourist traps and connect with the local community. We even had a hands-on lesson in roasting cacao and grinding it for mole in the kitchen of a local family. We ate SO much and learned even more. I would give this tour 10 stars if I could!
Felix gave us a fantastic tour! His enthusiasm for and knowledge of Zapotec culture made the experience very rich - not just about the food we tried (all delicious) but the sights we saw and the people we met along the way. It really is a full-day tour: come prepared to enjoy many different flavors and also see beautiful artistry as you visit a weaver, a mezcal maker, and a chocolate and mole expert. Wear casual clothing, comfortable shoes, and a hat as part of the tour will be outdoors. Felix speaks perfect English and will answer any questions you may have. We absolutely loved every minute.
Six out of five stars! Or seven! Our tour guide Iveth took really good care of us and made sure met our and her expectations. Each place we visited was very traditonal and the food was amazing! Our highlight was the mole tasting and chocolate making with Doña Dalia. She’s a treasure! Not only did she share her food with us, but she also shared many stories of her childhood and her culture. Definitely a must if you’re in Oaxaca.
Antonia was great to book with. He was responsive and in doing some research, the booking experience was completely safe as they are affiliated with Viator and Trip Advisor. It was only my daughter (19 years old ) and I and Felix was right on time with our pick up at our hotel. He had cold water in a cooler waiting for us. To keep the praise short, EVERY stop we made was an experience to remember. We speak weak Spanish but Felix spoke very good English and interpreted things when it was needed. I like to think I am a foodie with a great scope of experience in trying great food from everywhere, but I was completely humbled by the authenticity, integrity and skill that everything we met had. Our final meal with Dalia was the absolute best food I have ever had! It was interactive, informative and delicious. Mexico is full of wonderful people with a heritage that they are very proud of, I’m honoured that Felix and Antonio allowed us to be a part of it. I highly recommend this to everyone - you won’t regret it!
This was an amazing experience. Felix was an awesome guide and everything we did was wonderfully fun. The food was great, but seeing the traditional wool dyeing and weaving techniques was a true highlight, something we'll never forget.
From start to finish working with Conmigo Tours was professional and easy. Antonio helped ensure that our tours exceeded our expectations. We did 2 tours the GASTRONOMIC & CULTURAL FULL DAY TOUR and the HIERVE EL AGUA FULL DAY TOUR. Each tour was filled with amazing food and wonderful cultural experiences. Felix was our guide he was knowledgeable and helpful. Also, the vehicle was comfortable and air conditioned. Stop your research and sign up for a tour.
The guide Tony! Was friendly, knowledgeable and spoke great English :) the food and locations where spot on what we where looking for!
Best Oaxaca tour. Our guide Iveth was very knowledgeable, sweet and took us to great great locations. On our tour we got to meet another tour guide and he was great as well. Many laughs with both of them. We did other tours on our trip to Oaxaca and by far this tour was the best. This tour is a must, you will be able to appreciate different cultures from the surrounding towns and meet wonderful people.
I was the solo guest of Jesus on this tour. He is highly knowledgeable of the area and the specific locations we went to. We ate a lot of amazing food from breakfast to late afternoon lunch. The textile tour was superb and the young man who did the English for me was amazing, great oratory and his family are true artists The mescal tour was fascinating,I never knew there was so much to the beverage Plus we got to participate in the making of Oaxaca chocolate with Mrs Dalia, a wonderful woman. This tour is worth it and it gets you out of the city of Oaxaca to explore the surrounding area.
The food tour was wonderful. Felix knew all the right people and places. We ate very well and I learned a lot about the weaving tradition in Teotitlán del Valle. Then we went to a mezcal distillery, and then to a family hacienda where they make chocolate in the traditional way, where we ate very tasty tamales. The food was delicious and the people were very friendly. Felix was a knowledgeable and helpful guide, and very friendly. !I learned a lot!
