A must-do in Crete. The hosts were generous and genuine, and their warmth and constant smiles made it clear they truly enjoy what they do. There was an abundance of traditional food and homemade wine. The setting in the Cretan countryside was beautiful. We ended the evening sitting down together to enjoy the dishes we’d helped prepare. Their aim was to make us feel at home, and they succeeded.
We had the most beautiful Greek cooking experience in the most beautiful setting and the two main hosts were just incredible!! We loved every minute of it. The people pour their hearts into the experience and did their best to accommodate our dietary preferences. From understanding the experiential cooking method, their farm and opportunities to interact with the animals. visiting elder Greeks and all that warmth --- it is incomparable to anything else. The cooking area is divine, the mountains in the distance, the outdoor sink and oven and shaded area -- just magical!! Greek/Cretan warmth and hospitality is just amazing. The food above all was delicious and so simple to make. If I had to think of something that could be improved - it is that that the rabbits (and chickens too) could be given a larger space to live in and hop around and explore like they have attempted for their goats. Atleast they would have had a decent life before turning into a meal. We highly recommend the experience.
The time at Veggera was great. The hosts are super friendly. You feel comfortable there immediately. The food that we prepared ourselves was authentic and absolutely delicious. All ingredients came directly from the farm. Together with the beautiful location, it was a truly unforgettable experience. We will definitely come back. Thank you very much for this wonderful day! To everyone reading this: Visit Veggera!
One of the most amazing experiences you can book! You arrive at family farm, bikes in the yard and almost feel out of place if you’ve take a cooking class in a classroom kitchen. There is an amazing backyard kitchen with the best possible food. By the end of the night, it feels more like a night out with friends and family teaching you to cook with your heart!
We have been in Crete for two weeks and this experience will be forever in our memory. Vas and Sofia and their beautiful mother are PERFECT and being in their home and learning their culture was amazing. EVERYONE wanting a special family memory and to emerge yourself in the beautiful Crete culture has to do this! You will love it as much as we did. The food was unbelievable, the tour around their farm was so special and their kindness was beautiful.God bless this family and we will be back!
What an amazing and memorable experience. It was unique, authentic, special and left such a warm feeling. The family is welcoming, hospitable and lovely. The mountainside garden and farm, table setting and overall surrounding is beautiful. The class was fun and engaging. The food was simple yet delicious and wholesome. Our whole group had such a special and wonderful time. I highly recommend this for anyone looking for an authentic Cretan cooking class with a lovely local family.
This was a highlight of our trip. We enjoyed spending time with this family, who not only taught us about cooking an authentic Cretan dinner, but learning about village life, meeting some of the animals, and gaining a glimpse into farming in Crete. Our hosts were attentive and welcoming, and we even enjoyed meeting the other guests, with ample time to get to know each other as we were also working together on the meal and then while we ate. Thank you to our wonderful hosts and we wish you continued success and happiness.
This was so much more than a cooking class. The experience was hands-on from start to finish. We had the opportunity to bottle-feed sheep, milk a goat, learn traditional dances, prepare delicious local dishes, and then sit down together to enjoy the incredible meal we created. Every part of the day felt genuine, warm, and thoughtfully planned. The highest compliment I can give is this: my 25-year-old daughter, who has traveled extensively, said it was the best experience she has ever had. That says it all. We highly recommend this experience!!
This is an ABSOLUTE must. If you are looking to experience authentic Greek cooking, culture, and hospitality, then look no further. Sophia and her family are the kindest, most genuine people, and they welcome you to Crete with the utmost warmth and friendliness. I feel very grateful and blessed that they were willing to open their home to share their knowledge of not just cooking but of Cretan living and everything that makes it so special and beautiful. Big thank you to the hosts, and I urge anyone who is considering this to just do it, because you will take it home as an irreplicable experience.
This cooking class was, without a doubt, our favorite experience from our entire trip to Greece. As someone of Greek descent, I especially appreciated how authentic everything felt. From the moment we walked in, we were welcomed like family, and it was clear we weren't just learning recipes. We were being taught the family meals and traditions that have been passed down through generations. The experience went far beyond cooking. While our dishes simmered, we toured the family farm, met all of the animals, and even had the chance to milk a goat. It gave us such a deeper appreciation for where the ingredients came from and the way of life that makes Cretan cuisine so special. We also walked to the host's grandmother's house, where she welcomed us with freshly baked cookies straight from the oven. It felt less like a class and more like spending the day with family. The quality of the ingredients was incredible. The goat cheese had been made the day before from fresh goat's milk, and the vegetables were picked straight from the garden. Every dish reflected the freshness and simplicity that define traditional Cretan cooking. What made this experience even more unique was that we weren't just learning Greek recipes. We were learning authentic Cretan dishes that are unique to the island and its culinary traditions. If you're visiting Crete, do not miss this experience. It is authentic, immersive, and full of genuine hospitality. We left with full stomachs, new cooking skills, and memories we'll cherish forever. It was easily the highlight of our trip to Greece.
