Au départ d'Athènes, vous voyagerez à bord d'un autocar confortable et climatisé, admirant la beauté pittoresque de la campagne grecque en vous dirigeant vers les monastères à couper le souffle de Météores. Prenez le bus de 7h30 à Kalambaka le matin depuis la gare d'Athènes et profitez d'un voyage qui vous donnera la chance d'admirer la beauté de la campagne. Arrivée vers 12h30 à Kalambaka.
Arrêt brunch en bord de mer: Évitez les aires de repos animées de l'autoroute et profitez d'un brunch paisible au bord de la mer, à quelques pas de l'eau. Sirotez votre café ou savourez un repas léger avec vue sur l'océan et l'air frais du littoral. Les repas sont facultatifs et peuvent être précommandés via notre application à bord pour une expérience sans tracas.

Visitez l'impressionnant monastère de Varlaam, le deuxième plus grand monastère de Météores, perché sur un sommet rocheux. Votre guide vous fera partager l'histoire fascinante de sa construction du XVIe siècle et la vie des moines qui tractaient autrefois des matériaux à la corde. Admirez la chapelle richement décorée de fresques, les reliques historiques et les vues panoramiques sur le paysage spectaculaire ci-dessous.
Le Grand monastère des Météores est le plus grand et le plus ancien de tous les monastères des Météores. Construit au sommet d’une imposante formation rocheuse, il a gagné le nom de « météoro », signifiant « suspendu dans les airs ». Fondée par saint Athanase le Météorite, elle devint la première communauté monastique organisée de la région, jetant les bases du riche patrimoine spirituel de Météore.
Laissez-vous émerveiller par les grottes isolées de Badovas, reflet puissant de la solitude et du dévouement spirituel des premiers moines de Météore. En explorant ces abris isolés à flanc de falaise, vous découvrirez les histoires des ermites qui vivaient autrefois ici et verrez les traces de leurs simples habitations – offrant un aperçu rare de leur mode de vie austère et contemplatif.
Le monastère Saint-Étienne est le plus accessible de tous les monastères Météores, ne nécessitant aucun escalier – juste une courte promenade à travers un petit pont pour atteindre son entrée – ce qui le rend idéal pour les visiteurs à mobilité réduite qui veulent toujours une expérience monastique authentique. La vie monastique sur ce rocher a commencé dès le XIIe siècle, avec des personnages clés comme Hosios Antonios et Hosios Philotheos crédités pour son développement, ce dernier ayant reconstruit l'église d'origine en 1545. Aujourd'hui, le monastère comprend deux églises : une chapelle du XVIe siècle qui a subi des dommages pendant la Seconde Guerre mondiale et la guerre civile grecque, et une cathédrale plus grande du XVIIIe siècle dédiée à saint Charalambos, qui abrite ses reliques vénérées.
À la fin de la journée, notre accompagnateur Expert vous ramènera à Kalambaka, où vous aurez le temps de vous promener. À 17 h 35, le bus part de Kalambaka, et arrive à 21 h 58, retour à Athènes.
Le monastère Saint-Nicolas d'Anapafsas est le premier monastère que nous rencontrons sur le chemin de la Sainte Météore et a été fondé à la fin du 14ème siècle.

Le monastère saint de Roussanou serait nommé d'après le premier ermite qui se serait installé sur son rocher. Son église principale a été établie à la fin du XVIe siècle et joliment décorée environ trente ans plus tard. Contrairement à certains des monastères Météores les plus élevés, Roussanou est assis sur un rocher inférieur, ce qui le rend plus facile d'accès. Fondé à l'origine par des moines, le monastère a subi d'importants dommages pendant la Seconde Guerre mondiale. En 1988, il a été transformé en couvent et continue d'être un lieu de vie spirituelle et de tradition.
Le monastère de la Sainte-Trinité est le plus difficile d'accès, mais les vues panoramiques à couper le souffle depuis le sommet font que l'ascension en vaut la peine. Situé près du couvent Saint-Étienne, ce monastère est situé au sommet d’une formation rocheuse abrupte et saisissante. Pour y accéder, les visiteurs suivent un sentier menant à la base du rocher, puis montent environ 140 marches jusqu'au sommet, où des paysages époustouflants et une histoire spirituelle les attendent.
Dîner au coucher du soleil à la mer: Sur le chemin du retour, profitez d'un arrêt de dîner en option dans une ville côtière pittoresque. C'est le cadre idéal pour se détendre, déguster des plats grecs authentiques et admirer un coucher de soleil imprenable au bord de l'eau, une fin de journée inoubliable.

Lieux et horaires de prise en charge
Un service de ramassage gratuit est offert depuis certains hôtels situés dans le centre d'Athènes environ une heure avant le départ de la visite. Le fournisseur vous enverra un courriel avant la date de votre visite avec des détails sur le lieu et l'heure de ramassage. Veuillez noter que le service de dépôt n'est pas inclus, la visite se termine à la gare de Larissis.

- Pour entrer dans les monastères, des vêtements appropriés sont nécessaires. Les femmes ne doivent pas porter de jupes courtes et doivent avoir des manches longues. Les hommes ne sont pas autorisés à porter des shorts.
- Les modifications sont traitées en fonction de la disponibilité
- La visite nécessite de monter des escaliers à l'approche des monastères. Si quelqu'un trouve la montée des escaliers difficile, il est possible d'attendre sur le parking où se trouvent des bancs.
- Les visiteurs n'ont pas besoin d'acheter les billets d'entrée aux monastères à l'avance. Ils paient en espèces sur place.
- Le bus qui conduira les clients à Kalambaka est réservé uniquement au groupe de voyage.

Extremely disappointed is an understatement! We were very much looking forward to spending our first day trip away from Athens and it immediately started off on the wrong foot. We arrived early to our drop off location, and then shortly after followed what we were told was our guide for the day. We went on this amazing big ( possibly new) luxury bus. To then randomly being told to get off the bus, as we are transferring buses. The guide proceeded to drop us off at a random bus on the side of the rode and goes this should be your bus, I’m not sure where the driver is and then left! We waited in front of this bus for 30 mins, to then the bus driver arriving and telling us this was the wrong bus. We eventually found the correct bus. That was through a completely different tour company than what we had been told. This bus was much older( which really doesn’t matter) but this bus is EXTREMELY small compared to the other. Which when you are spending 4 plus hours each way to travel to and from Athens plus the actual excursion it’s self it makes a MAJOR difference! Extremely uncomfortable bus ride, our bus even broke down at one point! From the moment we got on the bus we received zero communication about the itinerary and how long it would be till our next stop. We were given 30 mins for what the itinerary calls “ optional breakfast” we were not told to order ahead as I now see suggested on the itinerary so us and many others had rush to get our food. Again we got back on the bus without any idea of how long we would be on. We randomly stopped multiple times to let people off the bus which has never happened before on any of the excursions we have gone on in the past. Lastly your tour guide won’t join your group till lunch time which was 1:00 for us. We departed Athens around 7:00am! We were given 20 mins for dinner as well which is optional but arriving back in Athens at 10:30pm so is it really optional when you eat lunch at 1:00pm?
This is a fantastic excursion. The day is long, however it is worth the time with the amazing sights on the bus ride and at Mediora. This is a very well organized excursion. The bus drivers and tour guide were excellent. There is a stop each way, for breakfast and dinner,if you wish, at a beautiful lake side area that will take your breath away. The Monasteries, Convent and landscape are a sight to see. The history and culture and educational experience.

The monasteries were beautiful. The ride was extremely long. Please know that the monasteries require women to wear skirts longer than your knees and have your shoulders covered. This was not mentioned in any of the tour details, so almost our entire bus had to borrow covers. It really should be posted in multiple places in the tour details. Our tour guide was mediocre, did not go into the buildings with us so the audio portion was extremely limited and only on the bus. Also, the “10 course Greek meal” is extremely misleading. You pay and then get to choose an entree from a couple of options. The food was very mediocre, but large portions.
This is a must, you will not regret it! We were amazed both by the scenic views and the inimaginable history of the monasteries.

Very beautiful place, but during the booking, we were supposed to have a guide in French, which was not the case. English-speaking guide.

Meteora is a stunning site. You should consider allocating two days for the visit. You can do it in one if you are willing to get up early, return late and spend 8 hrs in a bus.
