Excellent! Highlight of the trip. Pedro was such a wonderful teacher, we all learned so much and had a wonderful time even though it rained.
Pedro was wonderful as a guide and a teacher! At the beginning of the tour, he helped me find where he was and did not get impatient. We sat and talked about photographic techniques and content and how the technique can affect the mood of the photos. He explained how the various settings changed the photos and created a diagrams so that it made sense. He messaged some more information later--a handout from the teacher! We then walked through the small,, old streets of Lisbon taking artistic photos along the way. He does not force his opinion on you, but rather helps you to get the best out of yourself. He is a true teacher and a wonderful photographer.. Absolutely this was my favorite activity on my trip! 10 stars and 100% desire to do this excursion again.
Honestly, this has been the highlight of my trip so far. The tour was so great - to see real and quaint Lisbon with a local who knew the area was super knowledgeable and chill. I've done these type of photo-walks on many travel / visiting new places, but this one was the best. Pedro was super knowledgeable about the camera and although I've done many classes in the past, I still walked away with several tips and things to think about to take my photography forward. He also was respectful of the type of photography that I like to do, looked at my photos after and gave me ideas on composition. He was also a cool guy to spend a few hours with. The places in Alfama were really beautiful and real places too - places I would not have found on my own. I came away with 4-5 shots that I really like - which after a few hours being out is way better than what I could do on my own. Plus all the suggestions that really pushed my thinking. And it was so enjoyable. Absolutely loved the tour -- so glad that I booked it. Pedro was super. If you're into photography, book the tour!
Pedro was excellent. Great communication pre-tour to set-up meeting point. We spent a good deal of time talking about composing pictures and theory, but it a very practical, everyday use way - which is exactly what I was looking for. We then headed out into Alana where he helped me work through what we had discussed - what did I see, what story was I trying to tell. He also provided technical advice on using my specific camera. And he knows the neighborhood. Next time I’m here, I definitely want to try the golden hour tour.
I met Pedro at a coffee shop (great coffee!) in Lisbon’s old town. Over an espresso and a latte we spent a while discussing various aspects of my photography: kit, subjects, level of technical competence and what I wanted from the morning. Pedro taught some really useful photography theory such as composition and then we began the tour to put things into practice. Pedro knew some great spots around the old town to get some amazing photos. He also helped with composition and taught me that very often the first few shots of a scene are just first drafts to improve upon. Pedro is great company and his passion for photography shines through. He’s been in touch after the tour with some more useful tips and even offered to help with advice on post-processing when I get home. Definitely recommend this tour. I hope to meet with Pedro again on my next trip to Lisbon.
Pedro was an excellent teacher and guide. He led my wife and me through the streets and alleys of Alfama and discussed photographic techniques and composition while also giving us cultural and historical insights about the neighborhood and Lisbon. He spoke eloquently about the art of photography and clearly enjoys crafting photos as well as sharing knowledge. We did a morning tour and it was fairly quiet (especially since it was Sunday). An evening tour might have produced more "atmospheric" photos because of the quality of light, especially when the street lamps come on and there is still some light in the sky. But after Pedro's tour, you will know where to go later.
From beginning (getting in touch and arranging the afternoon session) till the end, Pedro has been nothing but extremely friendly, professional and very accomodative even at a very short notice. We started with great tips and introduction to my new DSLR camera (I'm absolute beginner when it comes to that), Pedro explained it in very concice, detailed but entertaining way all ins and outs of professional photography. The tour and walk through Lisbon was spectacular, myself and fiance enjoyed it a lot and left with heaps of knowledge about street photography as well as gained great Portuguese friend, not mentioning of discovering couple great restaurants as well. I left with invaluable knowledge about DSLR functionality and knowledge about taking great looking pictures. I will definitely do more Photography tours with Pedro again once I'm back in Lisbon. Could not recommend him highly enough, five stars are not sufficient to value the Lisbon Photography sessions with Pedro. Thank you once again and will see you soon again!!!!
It was a surprise gift from my friends on my birthday. And it was absolutely perfect:-) Before the class, I was a little complexed by my lack of technical knowledge, but Pedro immediately puts super comfortable. Hyper pedagogue, he knows how to alternate moments of explanations on the photo and on the history of the city.I came out of the course hyper motivated with lots of new technical reflexes of shooting. And I also spent a very good afternoon with Pedro, who is very friendly and speaks perfect French (which is convenient for technical explanations). In short, a great time that I absolutely recommend!
From meeting Pedro, and realising that this would be a private tutoring, to a thorough examination of my technical abilities, this tour/workshop exceeded my expectations in every department. From our initial interactions, Pedro gave me an excellent grounding in composition and understanding around what makes a good photo great. He was extremely helpful in analysing my shots and giving me tips on how to improve them as we went along as well as building in useful exercises for me to try my hand at. I did the 'Down The Hills' day workshop, I'll be returning to do 'The Magic Hours' night time workshop. An excellent workshop!
I did both Down The Hills (day) & The Magic Hour (night) with Pedro. For the day tour, Pedro taught me to get out of my comfort zone by: One, being forced to learn and use the Aperture mode which I have never had to guts to use, and two, learning how to compose in a picturesque but yet difficult city like Lisbon because there are so many beautiful places to shoot but you need to decide what to keep in and what to leave out to make the perfect shot. The night tour was even more challenging but rewarding as I learned how to use the right combination of ISO (to find the perfect balance between noise and shutter speed), white balance (to get to the right color/mood) & exposure (to control flare). You will also learn how to use the shutter speed to do light painting against Lisbon backdrops. Pedro is very friendly and knowledgeable person and the workshop is worth every penny!
