Atelier de calligraphie à Namba, Dotonbori

Description

The people friendly, instructions were good and easy to follow. Class was very enjoyable. Learnt alot, so much so that I have since bought all the supplies I need so I can continue practising at home.

We had a great calligraphy workshop with Stephan and Nao sense. They gave us an introduction into shodo and showed some of the Chinese Kanji! Sensei was really kind and helpful, she taught us how to properly sit, hold our arms and draw the lines. We really enjoyed the workshop. It was interesting, educating and interactive!! Highly recommended!!
Thank you for joining our workshop. You both did great! Please have a good time in Osaka and Kyoto!
Great experience, the instructor covered the history and meaning of a the kanji before we started drawing them and we got to finish writing our names in kanji
We really had a good time with you two. We're amazed that you learned everything so quickly. Hope it will be one of your hightlights during your trip. Have fun!
We loved this very informative and interesting workshop! We were in a small group, so it was nice to be able to ask questions in such a small group setting. The teachers were very well informed, very friendly and helpful - it was great to learn about the history and background of Japanese calligraphy, its cultural signficance and how each Kanji character has its own story and history. It gave us some great insights and it was a highlight of our trip to Japan. The calligraphy teacher even made us little origami souvenirs to take home, in addition to our names written in Kanji. Thank you so much for your kindness!
I've told teacher Nao about your impression on the workshop and origami souvenirs. That made her very pleased. Thanks for having that good time with us.
Everyone comes to Osaka for the food or to shop, which are valid and fun things to do. But if you want to do something deeper and get a sense of the culture of Japan, I would recommend taking this calligraphy class. I had wondered why other classes were only an hour but this is two. After taking it, I understand why. You get a bit of a history lesson. It's not only a calligraphy where you write. You need to understand the why. It helped me to understand a bit more about the Japanese culture and I'm sure it'll help you too. While it was fun, it was surprisingly challenging. Not difficult in a normal sense but challenging. That surprised me a bit as someone who used to do western calligraphy as a kid. If you've got two hours to kill, definitely give it a shot. You won't be disappointed. Both of them do a great job of teaching it and walking through this portion of Japanese culture.
Thanks for taking our workshop. And thanks for such a impressing comment. We're so glad that you both enjoyed the experience. Many thanks.
We loved this experience! It was a really peaceful experience in the midle of a bustling city! Our kids loved it (Age 9 and 11) and we came away with very special keepsakes from our trip! The teachers were brilliant, very knowledgeable and so friendly!
You and your daughters did such a good job at the workshop and we also enjoyed sharing that peaceful atmosphere. Thank you for coming.
Great experience. Stephen and the teacher were very patient with our attempts and they made the experience very enjoyable. Thoroughly recommend taking the time to do the workshop.
We didn't have to be patient as you just did a wonderful job! So glad that you enjoyed yourselves with us!
We had a wonderful time during this workshop. The teachers are very patient and let you practice multiple times to improve your strokes before you write your own name in Kanji. We had a small introduction into the history of Calligraphy and each Kanji was well explained in fluent English. The teachers also took photos and videos. We recommend this workshop to everyone interested in Japanese culture and language!
Thank you for joining us the other day. We also had a good time with you and were surprised at your knowledge regarding Japan and Japanese language. Please have a good time while you're in Japan!
