Description
La préparation traditionnelle du café turc implique un processus minutieux qui commence par la sélection et la mouture de grains de café de haute qualité pour garantir une finesse parfaite. Cependant, ce qui rend l'expérience vraiment exceptionnelle, c'est la méthode de préparation du café sur le sable. En Cappadoce, des pots en cuivre chauffés au sable spécialement conçus, appelés « cezve », sont remplis d'eau, de café et de sucre et placés sur du sable chauffé. Cette méthode permet une répartition douce et contrôlée de la chaleur, sublimant les saveurs et les arômes du café. Avec le pot niché dans le sable chaud, il atteint progressivement la température souhaitée, ce qui donne une infusion riche et savoureuse. I’ll be honest, I had never tried Turkish coffee before this, so I went in with zero expectations. The small-group setup ended up being just me and the instructor after the rest of my group canceled last minute, and honestly? It made the whole thing even better. It felt like a private lesson rather than a group tour, and the instructor was so patient and genuinely excited to share the tradition with someone experiencing it for the first time. The sand brewing process is mesmerizing to watch and even more satisfying to actually do yourself. There’s something almost meditative about the slow, gentle heat working through the cezve. I ground some coffee (as a demonstration, but used pre-ground coffee beans), controlled the brew, and ended up with a cup I made completely from scratch. For a first-time Turkish coffee drinker, it was such a cool way to be introduced to it. What surprised me most was how much history and cultural context was woven in throughout. This isn’t just a coffee demo. It’s a real look into how Turkish coffee has shaped social rituals, hospitality, and romance (yes, there’s a whole tradition around it!) over the centuries. After spending the morning exploring Cappadocia’s cave churches and fairy chimneys in a hot air balloon, it felt like the perfect way to slow down and connect with the region on a more personal level. If you’re a coffee lover, a culture nerd, or just someone who wants more than sightseeing while being here, do this one. Even if you’ve never had Turkish coffee before, that just makes it more fun.

The activity was the best, Haroon's explanation and the way he handles activity 10/10. It is certainly an activity adherent to Cappadocia and the Turkish/Arab culture. It teaches you from how to grab the cups, how to put them in the sand, how to fill them and how to take them. Plus it puts you in the right dress. Do it! ✨️🙌🏻

Great and interesting experience! Would have loved more interaction while we were enjoying the coffee we made (host was sitting at another table on his phone and did not participate then when we finished our coffee it was OK, all done and we had to leave). Expected a bit more history and intersting facts about Turkish coffee. It was focussing only on the process and only one of us were given the opportunity to make the coffee instead of each of us making our own coffee, so in that regard it wasn't hands-on for each of us. We had a longer and more interesting chat with the person at reception while we were waiting for the experience to start. Definitely worth it, still!

This had a little bit of history, a little bit of costumes and fun, and a little bit of a one-of-a-kind hands-on experience! Turkish coffee, tea, cake, and Turkish delight were served. Small class (only room for 6 people), so we all got a group demonstration, but then a one-on-one experience, which Ugar, the instructor was more than happy to document for you. He was so friendly and clearly passionate about making sure you have the best experience possible. For under $20usd and an hour of pure joy, this was great for me as a solo traveler but would also be fun for couples or families. The sand is very hot (and the coffee is very strong), but I think this would also be great for older children and teens who like to "do" things.

This was a truly unique way to experience Turkish culture. Our host was warm and welcoming, making the session enjoyable from start to finish. She shared the fascinating history of Turkish coffee, demonstrated the preparation process, and gave us the opportunity to make our own. She even allowed time for each person to take photos and videos individually. Overall, it was a delightful experience—and the coffee was excellent!
