The Mayan Cacao Company est un lieu pour découvrir les origines du chocolat dans le pays même de leurs créateurs: les Mayas. C’est un lieu interactif dans lequel vous devenez un explorateur de l’histoire de la nourriture la plus populaire au monde, au cœur d’un écrin de verdure tropicale, à la découverte des origines du cacao. Dans notre atelier, vous apprendrez également à fabriquer votre propre barre de chocolat à la main, avec la recette authentique des Mayas; vouloir plus? Nous avons plus, nous allons vous apprendre à faire une délicieuse Margarita avec la touche de chocolat, notre spécialité. Il n'y a pas de meilleur moyen de passer une journée à Cozumel tout en profitant d'un peu de culture et de divertissement.

Nous commencerons notre visite par la visite d'une véritable maison maya, où vous saurez comment les Mayas utilisaient leurs fèves de cacao comme monnaie, découvrirez leurs traditions, leur vie quotidienne, des techniques de jardinage astucieuses et même essayer une tortilla fraîchement préparée garnie de une sauce régionale composée essentiellement de Chocolat. Devenez un expert du chocolat artisanal et laissez la sensualité du chocolat éveiller vos sens dans notre Atelier Margarita et Chocolat. Dans notre atelier, vous apprendrez à faire votre tablette de chocolat artisanale avec la recette maya authentique, en utilisant les ustensiles appropriés. Vous apprendrez également à faire la Margarita au chocolat, notre spécialité, vous découvrirez l'origine de cette boisson à base de touche exquise de la boisson du Mexique "El Tequila". Pour terminer dans notre boutique, vous pouvez acheter une variété inimaginable de produits à base de cacao : savons, crèmes, sauces, chocolat artisanal et bien plus encore. Essayez les différentes saveurs de chocolat avant de choisir vos préférées.

This was a nice way to spend an early afternoon away from the cruise port. Angel was our guide and did a great job explaining the history of chocolate and the relationship to the Mayan culture. It’s an interactive journey where you learn the history, see a Mayan home, learn about the day of the dead, get a fresh made corn tortilla with chocolate mole and then head up to a step by step journey to create your own chocolate bar manually the Mayans did in the past. After that we had an opportunity to make our own chocolate Margaritas based on Angels recipe. They were surprisingly good and refreshing treat on a warm afternoon. They have a nicely setup gift store to purchase chocolate bars and other cocoa products along with Talavera pottery and other items. This is definitely something worth doing and a welcome change if you want a short break from the beach and water. Easy Taxi ride from cruise port and easy to get back with plenty of time to enjoy the port shopping and board the cruise ship. Highly recommend Angel, he has a passion for chocolate!

This is a fun and informational experience. We had a good time going thru the tour with our guide, and then grinding cocoa beans to make our own chocolate and a delicious chocolate margarita. Paty, our guide, was super sweet and knowledgeable, and we had a great VIP tour, since we were the only ones there that day. As a sidenote, there is no taxi stop from the chocolate factory, so arrange your return trip before you get dropped off! The taxi from Punta Longosta terminal cost us a little more than expected, but it's a good 20 min ride out there, and our driver waited 2 hours for us, so it was probably worth the cost.
