En compagnie de votre chauffeur Anglais averti, voyagez à travers les collines de l'Ombrie jusqu'à la ville d'Assise, classée au patrimoine mondial de l'UNESCO. Voir l'église Santa Chiara, la maison natale et d'enfance de saint François d'Assise, ainsi que la place de la mairie et le temple romain de Minerve. Au cours de cette excursion d'une journée au départ de Rome, vous aurez la chance de voyager dans la vraie Italie, loin des routes modernes et des grandes villes, au cœur de la campagne ombrienne, où de petits villages antiques attendent d'être découverts. L’un d’eux est Assise, une oasis d’art, d’architecture et de spiritualité, et le foyer de saint François, l’un des saints les plus aimés d’Italie.
En quittant Rome par le nord, vous traverserez la vallée du Tevere en passant par des villages médiévaux typiques tels que Deruta, Todi e Perugia avant d’arriver à Assise. Ici, vous commencerez votre promenade dans les rues étroites du village pour voir l'église de Santa Chiara, qui contient les restes de Sainte Claire, disciple de Saint François et fondateur de l'Ordre des Pauvres Dames, puis passez à la maison où Saint François est né et a passé les premières années de sa vie.
Toutes les routes vous mèneront à la basilique de San Francesco. Cette basilique grandiose et magnifiquement décorée est un monument plutôt incongru à un homme qui a prêché et mené une vie simple de pauvreté, d’abstinence et de renoncement aux biens de ce monde à la recherche d’une plus grande spiritualité. C'est cependant l'une des plus belles rencontres au monde entre religion et art. Des peintures uniques de Cimabue, Pietro Lorenzetti, Simone Martini et Giotto ont fait de la basilique Saint-François un point de référence fondamental pour le développement de l'art et de l'architecture italiens et européens.

Matteo made the whole trip very pleasant and enjoyable. The trip started well, with an easy pickup right outside our hotel. Matteo gave us information about Rome and the history of the region on the drive to Assisi. Approaching the town, he added more information, specifically about the sights in Assisi, and the history St Francis and St Claire. Matteo offered variations to adjust the trip to best suit our requirements. He definitely made the trip an extremely enjoyable and comfortable one.
Fabio our driver communicate with us the time of arrival at our hotel the night prior & morning. He was cheerful and happy to see and welcome us to our adventure thru Assisi. He has a wealth of knowledge not only Rome but also Assisi and surrounding towns. He walked us thru our itinerary with his wealth of knowledge making every church a unique characteristic history of the church. Fabio, thank you for makes us feel special. ❤️
Do not recommend this trip. The driver arrived late, unprofessional and fell asleep consistently on the way home. He was a nice guy and drove us to top of the place to make walk better but overall the trip was not informative nor professional. Assisi was nice but we didn’t learn anything at all. I would not recommend this trip with this company.
We had a wonderful experience from start to finish! We took two tours — one to Assisi and another to Pienza and Montepulciano as well as an airport transfer, and we were so lucky to have Costinel as our driver throughout. Costinel was professional, knowledgeable, friendly, and a real pleasure to spend time with. He made everything feel easy and comfortable, shared great recommendations along the way, and never made us feel rushed. He truly helped make the entire experience relaxing and enjoyable. I can’t recommend this company highly enough and especially Costinel. He was exceptional!!

Visiting Assisi in general was very enjoyable. We knew that each of the sites represents will tell a special moment in history for catholic in christian faith. Being there was a blessing!! In addition, Fabio, our tour guide, was exceptional! He was very knowledgeable of the region of Umbria. As we were passing through the various towns, he was sure to explain the details about each one of them. Most of all, Fabio was very accomodated and sensitive person, especially with our nephew who is handicapped. Finally, having lunch at the restaurant that Fabio recommended was unforgettable! Truly Italian pasta, lamb, and more. Thank you Fabio!

It was an incredible day beginning with a prompt departure. Our driver Matt / Mathew was professional, knowledgeable and engaging. He helped us plan our time in Assisi, suggested possible schedule and took us to the burial place of one of our newest saints, Carlos. Our day trip to Assisi was one of the highlights of our trip to Italy. We enjoyed the drive through the beautiful countryside in Umbria. Assisi was more amazing than we could have imagined, a stunning city on a hill with so much religious significance. Our driver, Ricardo, was excellent. He first drove us to the Basilica of St. Mary of the Angels because it was a few miles outside of Assisi. Ricardo then dropped us off in the middle of town and gave us very good directions on how to access the other three basilicas and where and what time to meet him for our return to Rome. We had plenty of time to visit the three basilicas, eat lunch, shop and take in spectacular views. Ricardo even kept in touch with us to make sure things were going well. On the return trip, Ricardo stopped at a perfect spot for photos. It was a perfect day!

We spent a really pleasant day in Assisi. Matteo, our guide, was punctual, patient and always available to adapt to our needs. At lunch he took us to a restaurant frequented by locals, with homemade cuisine, authentic and delicious. We enjoyed one of the best tiramisu we have ever eaten! Experience highly recommended.
