La visite commence à partir de votre hôtel, une chance de passer une journée agréable hors de Rome pour visiter l'Ombrie, l'une des régions les plus pittoresques d'Italie riche en vignobles, oliviers et les célèbres villages perchés. L'une des plus célèbres est Assise, classée au patrimoine mondial de l'UNESCO. La ville mystique de Saint François, entourée de ses anciennes murailles, a été construite sur les pentes verdoyantes du mont Subasio et avec ses maisons de pierre colorées, ses rues étroites, ses balcons fleuris et ses palais nobles offrent de belles vues pour des images mémorables (n'oubliez pas votre appareil photo). Visite intéressante de la basilique Saint-François, avec ses chefs-d'œuvre du début de la Renaissance de Giotto et Cimabue, et de la basilique Santa Maria degli Angeli. Temps pour déjeuner dans un restaurant typique (facultatif) et ensuite la visite continue à Orvieto, où vous pourrez admirer un chef-d'œuvre de l'architecture gothique avec une façade étincelante de vitraux, de mosaïques et de sculptures. Imprégnez-vous du charme d'Orvieto et explorez le centre-ville puis Retour à Rome.

Une visite intéressante de la basilique Saint-François avec ses chefs-d'œuvre de la Renaissance de Giotto et Cimabue et de la basilique Santa Maria degli Angeli. Basilique Sainte Marie des Anges, Après la mort de saint François en 1226, les frères construisirent plusieurs petites cabanes autour de Porziuncola. En 1230, un réfectoire et quelques bâtiments adjacents ont été ajoutés. Au fil du temps, de petits portiques et des logements pour les frères ont été ajoutés autour de Porziuncola. Certaines de leurs fondations ont été découvertes lors de fouilles effectuées sous le sol de la basilique actuelle entre 1967 et 1969. Alors qu'un grand nombre de pèlerins sont venus se rassembler à Assise pour recevoir le "Pardon d'Assise", le petit espace de la Porziuncola est devenu totalement insuffisant pour accueillir tous ces pèlerins. La nécessité de construire une église incorporant la Porziuncola s'est développée. Les bâtiments autour du sanctuaire ont été démolis par ordre du pape Pie V (1566-1572), à l'exception de la chapelle du Transito, la cellule dans laquelle saint François était mort. La construction de la basilique a commencé le 25 mars 1569.
Visitez l'église de Santa Chiara. L'église a été construite, après la mort de Santa Chiara, entre 1257 et 1265, autour de l'ancienne église de San Giorgio qui, jusqu'en 1230, avait conservé la dépouille de Saint François.

Le Dôme d'Orvieto est l'une des plus belles cathédrales italiennes, un chef-d'œuvre de l'architecture gothique du centre de l'Italie. Le magnifique bâtiment domine la falaise sur laquelle se trouve Orvieto grâce à sa taille. En particulier, la splendeur de sa façade est connue dans le monde entier, avec ses tours qui atteignent une hauteur d'environ 53 mètres. N'oubliez pas l'intérieur du Dôme, avec de magnifiques décorations et fresques réalisées par certains des plus grands peintres du passé, parmi lesquels le célèbre Giudizio Universale de Luca Signorelli.
Explorez Orvieto, l'une des plus anciennes villes d'Italie, doit ses origines à la civilisation étrusque : les premières colonies remontent au 9ème siècle avant JC. et ils se sont installés à l'intérieur des grottes tufacées créées dans le massif sur lequel se dresse actuellement la ville ombrienne. Bien que la renommée d'Orvieto soit profondément liée à celle de sa magnifique cathédrale, la ville offre de nombreuses idées et itinéraires historico-artistiques, précisément en raison de ses origines anciennes. De plus, perchée sur une falaise, Orvieto offre des vues panoramiques vraiment splendides.

Elisabetta was a wonderful guide and when she handed us off to Victoria at the entrance to Assisi, the trip went up a notch. I have personally been there two times before and did not have as thorough an explanation for all of the artistry as I did this time. We were comfortable in the car ride and there was only four of us for the day trip so it was very personalized. I would not hesitate to recommend it 100%.

Fantastic Day in Assisi! Juliana and her driver were the best! Picked up my wife and me at 7 a.m. at our hotel and headed out for a great day in Assisi. Juliana was a wonderful guide - very thoughtful and allowed us to move at our own pace. In Assisi, we had a guide who walked us through the town and churches - explaining everything in detail. After a nice lunch, we stopped by Orvieto for a brief tour. Beautiful church. Highly recommend this tour and Juliana!
