Do it. You’re in Aruba. Ride a horse on the beach. It was a great tour. We took the early morning 7am because the 10am was full. I highly recommend the early one. It puts you on the beach for sunrise. And a 2.5 hour ride starting at 10am would get super hot by the end. Our tour guide took some good photos of us along the way. It’s WELL worth the $100 per person.
I had an absolutely amazing time riding with Ranchos Notorious! I have a lot of riding experience and booked an advanced tour, but some beginners also signed up so our guide Max had to adjust to a wide variety of skill levels. He did a great job and kept everyone safe and happy and I still got in a few short canters. Then, Max went above and beyond and fit me in for a private ride the next day so that I could have a faster ride with lots of cantering and galloping - I couldn’t stop smiling! Max even took a video of me cantering behind him on the beach, along with lots of great pictures in the surf and with desert views. My horse, Bonnie, was absolutely amazing and the total package. All horses were happy, well cared for, and knew how to do their jobs well. I’m already planning my next trip to Aruba so I can ride here again. Highly recommend for beginners and advanced riders alike!
Rancho Notorious is consistently wonderful. Truly one of the best experiences on the island! Kudos to Max and Nelson-fantastic trail rides, breathtaking scenery . Can’t wait to do it all again!
Booked this on a whim and I am so glad I did! It felt like I had the whole island to myself that morning. In January the 7am ride is a Sunrise Ride!! As an advanced rider we galloped along the coast line and (walked!) through the cactus fields.
Please read this before booking !! On the surface - this place looks cute. If you aren’t familiar with horses you wouldn’t notice these things however… a deeper look at the horses will reveal lame horses (bad feet), eye infections, scabs and sensitivity on the back due to poor fitting saddles. I see why my guide was rushing to get saddles on so we didn’t see the scabbing. The horses were thin. You might think that the multiple horses sticking their tongues out is cute or funny - it’s not. It’s due to nerve damage in their mouths. My horse had a severe ear infection. The list goes on… I was put on a malnourished Paso Fino mare who did her best but trotted the entire ride. Not comfortable to say the least for 2.5 hours of bouncing. If you have a bad back this would be hell for you. Our tour guide was sweet but I cannot get over the lack of care for these beauties. 0/10 - do not recommended if you care about animals :( so sad to see
bait and switch, depends completely on the group. we Walked??? I knew that might happen from reviews which have miraculously disappeared. replaced with better ones???who is in cohoots with whom.? said I would have a prancing horse,. my dead grand mother prances more
Dr. Lewis R Morrison, DDS we are sorry to hear about the guests not as experienced on your ride! Unfortunately, the family also selected our Advanced Tour 4/24 and the ride will only gallop/cantor if all guests are comfortable! We recommend booking a private tour so it's catered to the skill level of your group only, happy trails!
Amazing experience! Very experienced riding guide. Extremely beautiful look at the island from horse back!
Loved it! It was quite an adventurous ride with lots of different scenery. Nestor was a great guide and I ended up getting a private tour as there were no other riders that day. We started through the cacti fields, over to the beach, into the water, back to the sand dunes, all the way up to the lighthouse and then gave the horses (and ourselves a little break). We continued our ride through the more rough side of aruba, more rocky pathways, over what seem to be a ravine and then back through the cacti fields. This ride is not suitable for unexperienced riders or riders who scare easily. Just sit back and relax. We mostly walked and galloped, which was amazing (goosebumps!). The trot was definitely different from the European horses I am used to riding on, but it looked so beautiful! My assigned horse Juanes was very sweet and behaved wonderfull, he kept following the horse in front of me which Nestor was riding on so I didn’t have any concern as I didn’t want a challenge that day. The horses are well taken care of, they look good and even get time to nibble on some grass along the way. If you have proper experience riding horses you should definitely book this tour, I can highly recommend!
We had an amazing experience with Nestor. The horses were well trained and friendly. We were happy to book a tour which allows you to go galloping and not walk in a straight line. We had terrible weather (rain all the time) but it didn’t bother us. Would totally recommend to book a tour here!
Nestor was a great guide, if you want to actually run a horse this is the place. It’s the only advanced ride that allows the horses to do more than walk one by one in a line. We had a great ride to the lighthouse and back. Thanks Nestor. A+
