We had a great afternoon at the workshop! The teachers are very kind and speak good english which helped us understand the meaning behind this craft. Here your artistic freedom has no boundaries. We ended up with beautiful jewelry that we made for one another.
What an amazing morning of learning a new technique and enjoying the experience of being able to create my own memories to take home. There are options other than Brooch to make. Bracelets, earrings etc. Wendi was a great interpreter between the expert and the students and the love the tutor has for her craft is noticed and appreciated.
The result turned out to be beyond my expectation. Had a nice and relaxing time, hosts are friendly and knowledgeable!
As someone new to Shanghai and eager to learn more about the arts, this was an incredibly welcoming experience. The guide was both friendly and deeply knowledgeable, offering thoughtful insight into the craftsmanship behind mother-of-pearl works. She also shared the symbolic meaning behind my brooch of choice—the lotus—which made the piece feel even more personal and significant. The space itself was warm and accommodating, with tea and snacks provided and soft, comforting music playing in the background. Conversation flowed easily as we discussed the history of the art form, its cultural significance, and other traditional Chinese artistic practices. The instructor even demonstrated her own work, creating a hairpin adorned with intricate, colorful floral details that showcased remarkable precision and artistry. Participants are encouraged to freely customize the colors and design of their brooch. Once completed, the staff carefully package the piece and even provide extra mother-of-pearl chips and adhesive gel in case any pieces shift during transport, allowing for easy repairs. Overall, it was a meaningful and beautifully curated experience. I left not only with a timeless piece of jewelry, but with a deeper appreciation for the artistry and tradition behind it.
Thank you for your support! We really enjoyed your visit and happy to share Chinese culture with you. We will keep working hard to provide better experiences.
A great way to get hands-on experience blending traditional techniques with a modern twist. I’ve also learned a lot about Chinese history and modern methods of cultural object preservation Many thanks to Wendi and Zhang Mo! I’m looking forward to attending other workshops they offer!
Thank you! We enjoyed the time with you and your family as well, hope to see you again!
the teacher is very knowledgeable and patient. You can create your own thing but we choose to go with the classic ones that the teacher provide, which means wish for fortune and good luck. i'll put that back in our living room lol.
Thanks for participating our workshop and hope that painting can bring you good luck. Hope to see you next time!!
An unforgettable experience! The teacher shared not only techniques but also the rich history behind the craft. It gave me a whole new perspective on ancient Chinese architecture. A truly eye-opening and hands-on experience. Highly recommended!
